Question about CS credits

I KNOW I read a thread earlier that a poster who just came back had a long conversation with a manager regarding the separation of the credits. The CM/Manager basically told them the only way they are tracking the credits now is at the counter by looking at your card' child vs adult numbers - they are pooled in the system as they always have been and they don't track it nor can they tell you how many of each are left. The CM was from one of the All Stars I think. Now, if I could only find that thread, lol. I'm going to die if it was this thread and I've somehow missed it!

So, I'm not going to worry anymore about calling to find out - if they charge us an "adult" credit at Casey's, it won't matter! Oh - usual disclaimer - not trying to cheat the system, lol. My dd actually PREFERS the childrens menu, silly child.

I just got back on the 28th and had the same experience. The last day we had 7 meals left and I wasn't sure how many were adult and how many were child since my daughter shared meals with us a few times. I asked at the POP food court and they couldn't tell me and directed me to the front desk. When I asked at the front desk the gal told me that they have no way to track it. When you order food it doesn't specifically deduct from child or adult. They can only tell by how many adults and how many children are on the card. You aren't supposed to be able to get more adult meals at one time than what is listed or more childrens meals than listed.

I am interested to know if anyone else has gotten back recently and had the same experience.

ok not finished reading only on page 2 so if I have repeated what someone else has said...sorry but dont want to forget what I wanted to say.

Kami...there is a thread on here I forget the name but something like has anyone tried new cs plan, a few people have tried it maybe they can help with the child vs adult cs. I too want to know for the same reasons....dh will never remember to say that it is a child's credit....so I too will threaten that he will be using the cs if he forgets....:rotfl2:

So do we think it would be a HUGE pain to Disney and ourselves if they put each person's credits on their own card??????:confused3

Per the clearly stated rules of Walt Disney World concerning the dining plan, credits purchased for children age 3-9 are to be used to purchase meals only from the children's menu, where a separate child's menu exists, whether at CS or TS.

The DIS does not advocate or instruct regarding the violation of the stated rules of the Walt Disney Company. Any reference to doing so will be deleted.

If Disney made it more MY WAY instead of DIS WAY then I would not have to do that, they dont so I have to figure out how to use my credits (money) some way....after all it is MY vacation, not DISNEYS!!!!!

I really don't think anyone is trying to violate the rules...I think we all just want to know how everything works so we'll be prepared. The main reason I have been reading is to find out whether or not we need to worry that a "child CS credit" is used at a place without a child's menu, especially if you are only ordering for your child and not for everyone in the party.

Any statements that one intends to use the DDP credits to buy adult meals for children cannot remain on the board, nor can instructions on how to make an end run around the children's menu meal rule. According to all WDW literature, this IS the dining plan rule, whether or not they separate the credits.

Ok that is fine you can delete that post. I dont have a problem with it. Did not mean any harm by my post.

I was not trying to get around the rules...I am asking about using a 'child CS credit' for my child! The question is, do I need to make sure that the CM uses a CHILD credit for that meal, considering there is NO child's menu.

HI Monkey!! I dont think she is replying to your post, it is mine she is replying too! Sorry hope you were not getting offended by it. You have done nothing wrong but apparently I have....:rotfl2:

I guess the best way to make sure that the deduction is correct is to clearly state what to deduct and call from your room each night to check the balance. My concern isn't so much about the deduction of the childs credit or the adult, but of the limited selection on the kids menus at most of the counter service restaurants. My son will tire quickly of chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese. I have made ADR's for the TS meals at some buffets so he will at least have more options there, but lunches may be a problem. Any suggestions?

I agree that choices are limited - but, IMO, with some planning you can get by. Keep in mind how inexpensive the kids plan is though - so know that you're getting your money's worth even if you decide to pay OOP for a CS meal or two to give your child more variety. You more than get the $'s worth for your child just by going to that buffet for dinner.

Anyway - that aside, I prefer to not pay OOP if it can be avoided. My kids had: nuggets, burgers, soup, bagels, pizza, sandwich (mini sub at sunshine seasons) and a couple other things. They did do the nuggest, burgers and pizza more than once - but at least not every time. It was enough variety for them. Just take a look at menus and keep the ones with different kids options in mind.

We do one or two of our big meals as a late breakfast - giving the kids yogurt, fruit, mickey waffles and some sausage for the big meal of the day. Then, for dinner we might do one of the 'usual' CS places. Don't forget about snacks too - you could grab a bagel and a fruit cup as snack credits and give that to the child as a dinner for variety's sake. I also split some things that I got in my meals with the kids to give them more options.

Thanks 5boyz! I'm not really offended, just a little annoyed that simple questions cannot be asked without the assumption that we are trying to break the rules! I didn't see anything about your posts that implied attempts at rule-breaking either!

The rules are that the adults order adult meals and children order child meals; if the restaurant doesn't have a child menu (very few left), then you can order an adult meal for a child. However, they can't tell you how many adult or child credits you have left for your CS meals because they are not separated.

Thank you. That is exactly what I wanted to know.

For those concerned about the lack of choices for the kids....Many adult CS meals tend to be large enough so that you can share some of it with the kids...so if they are getting sick of the same old fare it is not our of the question that you would have enough food between 2 adult CS meals to be able to feed 2 adults and a child. As was stated earlier...snack credits can help suppliment this as well. Between 2 adult CS meals and one snack credit you could pretty easily feed 2 adults and a typical child I think. Just my 2 cents.
