Good Morning!🍁

Yesterday was such a dreary day with the on/off rain all day 🌧️. I should have gotten out for a walk but just didn't feel like it. Last night I looked in the corner of the room and there sits my little hand weights, didn't even pick those up. Had all day, just didn't do it. I need to start doing that while I'm sitting on my butt watching TV. Added to the dreariness, I was so tired all day yesterday. Getting up at 4:00 am didn't help.

I work tonight, I switched with someone so that I could be off tomorrow night. Mia's party is early Saturday so I wanted to be able to have some sleep since I work later Saturday night.

Since I'm working tonight, I had to take PTO at my weekday job tomorrow. Well, Saturday is my birthday and my boss (since the summer) doesn't know me because she brought in breakfast food, put a sign up, and emailed people in the office 🫣. This is not me! I don't advertise that it's my birthday, I don't like making a big deal out of things, I keep to myself because I don't like attention 🤫. So all day today, I'll be uncomfortable sitting at my desk.

Watched Survivor last night and fell asleep at the end 😴!!!! I didn't see who was voted out. 😳

Have a great day!

Good morning. Cable guy was supposed to be here 12:30-2:30, instead he called at 9 and asked if he could come early, like 15 min from the call. I didn't sleep well last night and had just gotten up. Had to hurry and feed the cats and put them in the bedroom and get dressed.
He checked the lines, the signals, and disconnected the old cables that he said they should have done when they put the streaming boxes in because it causes interference. He determined that it was indeed a bad streaming box and replaced it. Reset everything, I just signed back in to all of the streaming devices and am hoping this fixes the problem and I don't need a 5th box in 2 years.

It just never ends at Summers house. She had her oil changed in the truck and they broke the neck thing the oil cap screws on to, so she can't tighten it and it's keeping the engine light on until she gets the new one from Amazon. Then yesterday Gracie had a friend over, and Lily was rushing to leave for work, didn't see the girls car, must have been in a blind spot, and she backed into it and damaged the passenger door.
Then Summer gets a call from her husband that she has to pick him up at the first WV exit late tonight. The first exit is a 5 hour drive. Seems they were on the job in TN, supposed to be there until Sunday, and then drive to Indiana for a job. The foreman had a family emergency and since her husband and another guy were riding with him, they all had to leave. She had just placed a food order for him last night which he got, so he has to bring all of that home too. They are losing 2 days of pay on top of it. And now she has to spend more money on gas to drive to get him and bring him back home, then bring him back again on Sunday, so he can meet the foreman and the other guy and drive to Indiana. She said this job is starting out just like the one he just left and this can't keep happening.

Also, it turns out that in Morgantown they said that Gracie's boyfriend has a brain bleed, and will be on anti seizure meds for the rest of his life. Has both sides of his jaw fractured, and both the inner and outer parts of his eardrum are fractured. How our ER here in town missed that is beyond me, but sounds like a case of malpractice to me. They did X-rays of his jaw and didn't see both sides fractured? They did a CT scan of his head, said it was a concussion and didn't see a brain bleed? Unbelievable.

@footballmouse you didn't see the cut throat tribal? It came down to a tie between Sam and Sierra, and Sierra got blindsided.

@bobbiwoz The Christmas cactus that was Don's mothers, and is really old, is also in bloom. It bloomed around Easter too, and always starts reblooming around Thanksgiving

Another 75 degree day here, but it's cloudy. I can live with that, I'm too tired to do anything outside anyhow, lol

@flyingdumbo127 extra prayers for you and your Dad

Have a good day, I'm going to lay down and take a nap.

Lynn Summer and family just cannot catch a break. So sorry about the boyfriend. It does sound like malpractice or at the very least negligence.

@flyingdumbo127 Sending prayers to you and your father.

Bobbiwoz Glad you are feeling better.

Footballmouse Happy early birthday. And to Mia too!

Just stopping by quickly. I was in the office today and then got an inspection sticker on my car. Tomorrow is Chris' birthday. He would have been 71. I made a one layer chocolate cake in his honor. It is a "war" cake recipe from WWII that he loved. Tomorrow I will bring it to Kenny's so we can share it. The grandkids adored Papa and I know they will talk about him. He was their favorite Papa. Then Saturday I am off to NH for a couple of days. We are heading up early, having lunch, and then doing a bit of shopping until we can check in. So looking forward to the break. I took Monday off from work as we get one Federal holiday off that our company doesn't give us. It is a nice perk as we get to choose.

Have a nice evening.

I do hope you have a great enjoyable birthday :cake:

We haven’t had a rainy day in a long time, but today was just a gorgeous day. I sat outside for much of it, and used rollator to walk around the block.

I don't know about Bobbi's, but mine blooms twice a year, around Easter and then around Thanksgiving. Mine is an old one. It was my late husbands mother's plant, and we've had it since she died in 1999. I don't know how long she had it before then.
That's interesting. My Mom gave me one in 2021 before she passed away and it blooms like 4 or 5 times a year meanwhile my Mother-in-laws blooms maybe once a year around Christmas time.

Thank you dear Snowysmom and an extra hug indeed to you my friend.

Extra hug to you dear Lynn also.

Welcome to our kind thread, Sean :)

Dr. S, our podiatrist, will be coming to see both my dad and I next Tuesday adternoon. We agreed that due to other health concerns this was the best time for her to come. Otherwise we probably would not be able to schedule until mid December. I pray next week God willing to really make strides toward recovery. Thank you all always for your prayers and support.

Sweet Dreams to all with love.

Good morning. Back to being chilly at 40 right now with temps heading to 60. This is a day to get through and I will enjoy my time with Kenny and the kids. I am all set to head off tomorrow bright and early so I do have that to look forward to. It is about an hour and a half drive to get to my friend's house. I hope traffic won't be too bad early in the day. Not sure alot of people will be going to NH this time of year as there is no foliage, no snow for skiiing, and too cold for swimming and boating.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Good sunny Friday. Temps in the 70's again. They say rain on Sunday, that would be different. My friend in CO got 8" yesterday, and are under a warning for 7-14" between today and tomorrow. If I were her, I'd move, lol
Yesterday was the first day all week that nothing went wrong and I didn't have to deal with problems. I needed that. I have no idea why, but Summer texted me last night that they were on the way back from KY. Why she drove all the way to KY and back instead of picking him up in WV is beyond me. 14+ hours compared to almost 4 would have been less driving and less gas used. Sunday she has to drive him 4 hours up in WV to bring him to the ride that's taking them to Indiana.

I have some errands in town to do this morning, and maybe I'll stop and pick up Chinese for lunch.

Have a nice day

I think I remember a few "Gilmore Girls" fans in this thread, yes? This article might be of interest:

It’s winter in Stars Hollow! Stroll through the ‘Gilmore Girls’ town on this cozy Warner Bros. tour

It’s fall, and for many that means it’s “Gilmore Girls” season.
Though its original run ended in 2007, the series about the mother-daughter escapades of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore has remained a viewing behemoth, often returning to the top 10 of Nielsen’s streaming chart during the autumn and winter months. Consider it a soothing symbol of a less digital, pre-pandemic world centered on convivial small-town life.

Capitalizing on the show’s continued popularity, the venerable Warner Bros. Studio Tour has once again made “Gilmore Girls” a centerpiece of its holiday offerings. From Dec. 18 to Jan. 5, a portion of the studio’s backlot will be remade into the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Conn., with looks at key filming locations and props, as well as costume contests and cookie decorating activities.

The “Holidays Made Here” festivities will be available as part of all studio tour offerings, says a spokesperson, with tours departing between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily, excluding Christmas Day. Warner Bros. toursstart at $73 but various add-ons and offerings are available for additional fees. Danny Kahn, vice president and general manager of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, said the firm is showcasing properties that embody “the warmth, charm and community spirit that define the season.”

Those who analyze and study the series say it makes sense that fans return to “Gilmore Girls” during this time of year — or begin it for the first time.

“Gilmore Girls,” after all, sometimes appears arranged around the academic calendar, says Rachel Davidson, co-author of “Gilmore Girls: A Cultural History” with Lara Stache, beginning in the fall when the character of Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) is accepted to a prestigious prep school. The show is anchored around multiple generations of Gilmores, following Rory and her mother, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), as they navigate familial challenges, often around the dinner table with Lorelai’s parents.

“The title sequence of ‘Gilmore Girls’ also captures the feeling of fall, with its bird’s-eye view of a small-town scene surrounded by the warm hues of fall leaves,” Davidson says. “The colors and sepia-toned aesthetic of the intro set a cozy, nostalgic tone that aligns so well with the fall season, making it feel like a quintessential autumn show.”

It’s comfort food, says Haley McIntosh, who co-costs the “Gilmore to Say” rewatch podcast with Tara Llewellyn.
“Right now, people are starting to watch holiday movies to get into the Christmas spirit, and there’s a wash of people who get into a cozy spirit by diving into ‘Gilmore Girls,’” McIntosh says. “Everything is very autumnal. Regardless if it’s a spring episode, it will still feel like fall. There’s an emphasis on small-town community and crazy town events, but it’s so cozy. It’s the TV show equivalent of soup season. It’s too cozy to bypass.”

Warner Bros.’ “Holidays Made Here” program will invite guests into the show’s Luke’s Diner for coffee and pastries and highlight pivotal series locales such as the town’s gazebo, the official Stars Hollow sign, Lorelai’s house and Mrs. Kim’s Antiques. Guests are encouraged to come in outfits inspired by the show — Warner Bros. is promising trivia contests and 3 p.m. costume meetups — and key to the “Gilmore Girls” Christmas spirit will be a glimpse of a Bjork-inspired snowperson.

The Bjork sculpture is found in the Season 2 episode “The Bracebridge Dinner,” which also features a snow-laden sleigh ride. “It’s playful and whimsical — perfectly capturing the cozy, festive vibe of the show,” Davidson says.

“The series is all about family, including found family, and that is probably why it feels so appropriate for Christmas,” Stache says.

No word, however, if Warner Bros. will attempt to capture the scent of snowfall.

“Some of the most iconic episodes have been in the wintertime,” Llewellyn says. “Lorelai says, ‘I smell snow.’ That is one of her traits. She can smell when snow is coming. She loves snow. So I understand why Warner Bros. choose this season to zero in on. That’s the season one of the main characters thrives.”
