Well, to those who asked. Don isn't doing better. I had to call 911 and he's at the ER now. Luke came down with the girls and his partner. They had just pulled into his mothers house down the road when Don texted him and asked him to get here as soon as he could. I couldn't get him up to his walker to use the commode, no strength in his legs. Luke left the girls and Marcella with his mother and came by himself. It took 45 min of trying various ways to get Don on his feet, finally practically lifting him. And Don is a big man, good thing Luke is too. He finally got him to the commode and then back to his chair.
Don asked him if he would go and get the girls and Marcella and bring them for a short visit, and then he was going to have me call 911. So they came and stayed about 45 min, Summer came over too. Luke helped him get on the commode one more time and then I called 911. When I was on the phone with them, the guy asked me if he was in any pain. Don tells me he had slight pain in his chest, and he felt like he did when he had sepsis a few years ago. He never told me that until he had me tell 911! It was less than 5 min when a dozen firemen, EMT's, fire chief and ambulance pulled in. The got him, out of the chair and onto the stretcher. He told me to stay home until they admit him. I have a huge issue with our ER and can't just sit there for hours. I can't do anything to help, and he just wants to sleep if they let him. Not the way he wanted to spend his birthday tomorrow, but it was at the point where I couldn't do enough to help him.
Hopefully they'll figure out what's wrong and treat it and get him back on his feet so he can come home. He will refuse a nursing home at all costs. At least this way, he'll be able to get some in home nursing care and home PT if needed.
Any and all prayers would be appreciated. I'm alone in a quiet house, not even the sound of the oxygen machine running.
The 2 little boys next door were outside when the ambulance came, and they said Miss Lynn, Miss Lynn, what's wrong? I told them it was okay, that I would talk to their dad in a little while. I went and told him just so he knows I'm alone and he can keep an eye out if I need anything. They are such nice neighbors.
Oh get this one. Don's ex wife, Mary, texted me, thinking she was getting him, to tell him that if I needed anything, like a ride to the hospital or the store, to just call her and let her know. It was very nice of her, but I think I've only talked to her 5x in the last 23 years, lol.
But at least I know she's willing to help if needed. Summer said the same thing, as did my sister in laws (both of them) and my brother in law. Just call if I need anything. I'll be okay. You all know I've said that it was inevitable that it was going to happen, I just didn't expect it to be today.
If you've all hung in through my rambling, thank you. I lean on my Quacker family for support, as a lot of you do.
