Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good afternoon. Just a quick drop in.

My husband finally got his shoes, and they gave us a break in schedule. He has ignored it. I may go crazy.

Saw the cardiologist and he still has a heart. just kidding. He's doing OK and will have a minor procedure when I get home from Disney to remove the Loop Recorder in his chest wall. They know what caused his strokes and nothing has changed so it's no longer needed.

Yesterday was my grandson Anthony's 15th birthday. He is such a good kid, and his knee has healed but PT won't clear him to play yet. They are working on his mechanics so that the odds of another tear are minimal. If he goes for the full year there is a risk, there always is in sports, but the risk in down to the normal risk for anybody. He's happy they will let his start doing some baseball activities soon like swinging a bat or catching in a stationary position.

Wyatt had football last night and is going to Urgent Care this afternoon. He got hit on the arm with a helmet and has a lump there. My daughter had work so as soon as she is home they are off to get it checked. She hoped it would be OK today. The little guy was running a low-grade fever so my son in law came home to stay with them. With three 3 boys it's always something.

I cleaned out my closet as it was running over into the bedroom. I have 7 pairs of sneakers, all in decent condition, to donate. I still have 5 pairs left. I have to get a new pair every fall and spring but neglect to get rid of older pairs. Hopefully they can be put to use.

Off to pick up Crystal and head to the supermarket. That's always an adventure with the way prices have been.

Check back later to catch up.

Good morning.

Not much new to report.

What a nice surprise.

I am sorry you are feeling defeated and DS is having a rough time. I have nothing to offer but prayers and a listening ear.

I am so far off the wagon. I am Life Time and was free for the longest time, but no more. I keep paying the monthly fee thinking I'll buckle down but then just don't have the motivation. And, since the pandemic, the closest meeting is about 25 minutes away up I95. I should go but hate the thought of that drive in the morning. Are you going to meetings or virtual? It works as long as you are motivated. (I won't give you my thoughts on the most recent plan.)
I had to drop weight and try to maintain a lower weight after getting diabetes 2 diagnosis quite a few years back.

What I find keeps me somewhat in check is to get on the scale every morning. If I find I'm creeping up by maybe 2 pounds than I have to eat better and less.

One way I found got the weight down was to reduce carbs from breads, pasta, rice and cereals. Then I increased the amount of fruits (also carbs but process through your system differently) I ate such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and a little banana for the sweetness it added to a bowl of the former berries.

I also would make a lunch out of Green Giant veggies or Birdseye veggies, which I didn't love but it worked.

Meat and fish proteins - no more than 4 ounces on my plate. All the leafy salad greens I could stand.

The first 10 pounds always drops easy. After that it's work!

For my diabetes 2, small and more frequent meals worked. While working, I would pack hummus and 5 multigrain chips. Or a bowl of fruit or cut veggies. I was eating what seemed like a lot of food in about 5 smaller meals/snacks and was losing weight. Breakfast 1 egg/1 slice of toast/1 piece of ham or bacon or sausage.

If I got the 'light' feeling - a piece of string cheese eaten slowly.

All this and I could do with losing another 10 pounds. I didn't mention a word about exercising. That's my most difficult task and yet one of the most important.

Hope he is OK!

The specialist got back to me, but just to put him in the regular appointment schedule - which is the middle of October right now. DS was up for a while and is sleeping again.

@PollyannaMom So sorry your DS is still having issues. I was there with both my kids when they were younger and it is so hard. A good doctor really makes the difference. I hope you can connect with the doctor you were referred to.

@tazdev3225 Glad your DH got his shoes. I am sure you wish he would follow the break in schedule. It would be best to follow the directions but sometimes they just do what they want to do.

@Judique I like your eating suggestions. I too find that 5 smaller meals work best.

It is cloudy here and cool. Last night there was one rumble of thunder and then a downpour. I do not do well with thunder storms so I was glad there was only one rumble.

I so wish I could start the town house search and put this place on the market but I need to have patience which is not easy for me. We need to get by our Disney trip and the holidays. Plus I want the 2 buy and sell cycles to be in 2 separate years for tax purposes. I know I am not going to get what I paid for this place and I am fine with that. I sold high and bought high. I will sell here and buy for lower where my son lives. I really wish he had told me about the divorce while I was originally looking for a condo so I could have just looked for a place in his area. But, then again, as I said before, I believe I needed to try to be in the general area that Chris and I raised our kids. Now I know I need to do new and different. Life is full of lessons.

Have a good evening.

He probably felt bad about dumping another sad thing on you at an already sad time, or worried that you would make your decision based on his needs rather than your own. It's bittersweet when we realize we did well raising our sons to be kind - but then they put others first when we want them to speak up for themselves!

:hug:Footballmouse and extra for Carol, too, I think most anything is made easier with support. Both of you always know we care so much and that you are indeed wonderfully and fearfully made--lovely ladies and dear friends.

:hug:Lynn, lol, maybe if reading all you did already makes you tired, you'll REST? I can hope so anyway! You know how much I care🌸

Judique, please only🚶‍♀️during daylight! Stay safe, my friend:hug: I forgot to say earlier that at the start of the pandemic what helped me to start losing weight was soup! Now, I know, unlike most people I am soup odd in that I just love plain Campbell's Chicken Broth. Of course, you can go heartier. Just having some soup before a meal made all the difference in terms of not being as hungry or feeling the need for extras. What also helped me was for things like potato chips, looking at the serving size on the bag. If it said the suggested serving was 20 chips, for example, I would take out of the bag before sitting down 10 chips. Put the bag away (out of sight and not opened in front of me was the key for me) and then it was surprising to see how big each chip was. I started off breaking them in half. 20 chips from just a total of 10. Worked!

Of course, for me, truly what always matters and mattered most was choosing to at last be still, be healthy, give past "stuff" fully over to God. I was not at all healthy in early 2020. I had exhausted myself. I have honestly always been someone who prefers to jump in and help and be there for someone else. I finally listened to God's lifelong prayer for me to know that it's not only okay for me to want to take care of myself in all ways but that is exactly what He wants us all to do! There is no way any of us humans as hard as we may go, to truly be of sincere and sheer joyous service and witness to Him, as was and always will be my heart's only desire, unless our own spirits are healthy and taken care of! Once I said "yes," fully to God and my spirit became of health and better joy, the rest fell into place. I choose always Jesus and only joy! No desire for drama, negativity, situations that are too much. Being still and a ton more mindful. Grateful to Him in all, always, and to Him for all of dear you! 🐥❤️

Praise, praise God, dear Taz, that your DH got his new shoes! I am so sorry that once again the process of getting the shoes was not fun or easy which is wrong all-around. Continuing 🙏for a resolution once and for all. :bday:to Anthony and much healing prayer for him and Wyatt, too. Always good to see you post, my friend.

:hug:Kirby, that is another wonderful reminder! I have also tried to slow down in eating. Not a race lol. Healthier to take more time all-around.

:grouphug:🙏🕊️PollyannaMom. Very thankful to God your DS now has that appointment. Much prayer the doctor will be a wonderful support and that he is able to see your son sooner, too. Is there a way you could call or email him in the meantime just to ask for suggestions?

Extra🕊️and love always to you, Snowysmom. Have FUN with your family and ::MickeyMo You know how much I pray the trip is healing. Meantime, and always, know we are here and care.

@PollyannaMom I just saw that your DS has an appt. That is a great step for him. I know it is hard to wait but time does go by quickly.

Yes, my DSs are aware of how sad I am and do not want to add to that. And if I had bought a condo out near older DS I may have wondered if I should have stayed closer to where Chris and I lived. Now I know.

Lynn I need a nap after reading what you do all day. I think you need a rest day.

@flyingdumbo127 You have some really good ideas for portion control and eating in moderation. Congrats on the progress.

:thanks:Snowysmom. I pray what I shared is helpful :)

Plus, with God's further mercy, and help of friends including all of dear you, truly forgiving and letting go of some past stuff. This reminds me that I recently thanked a former church pastor who is a good friend for a sermon she preached 7 years ago on the Ho’oponopono Prayer which is simply this: "I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I forgive you. Thank you. I love you." To anyone interested in more info PM me.

My prayer for you, dear Quacker family, is forever to be happy and at peace. Choose joy, grow your faith and relationship with God and come to know He is always, in all ways, with you. Each day of life is a gift that I have sure come to better thank Him for and appreciate each day in all. A favorite Hymn of mine is Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart

🐥❤️

Good evening.

Good news Ben is feeling better so probably just his allergies this morning. Wyatt bruised the muscle but no fractures were evident. Huge relief there.

I made an appointment for myself to see a new eye dr. I was quite happy with the office just from the brief interaction today.

My church is trying to return to a sense of normalcy, and we are having our Annual Holiday Tea after a 2-year hiatus. We always have a raffle table that I get donations for. I found a website when I googled something that listed quite a lot of businesses that will donate to fund raisers. I contacted a few online today and was shocked to hear back from one already that will be donating a gift box. I have bought cheese from them before, but Cabot cheese will get my business more often now. This is our major fundraiser for the youth programs and community outreach. This year we are hoping to take the children to the Sight and Sound Theater to see Moses. We are a small but growing multi-cultural parish and it is nice to see so many of the new people getting involved.

Prayers for those that need them.

@Snowysmom - I know we will be in Disney at the same time. I would love to try and meet up with you of possible. I'm on my own so I'm fairly flexible and I did get a park hopper ticket so I am not confined to one park. I am doing the Halloween party on Sunday night October 16th. I know you will be with your family so I will leave it to you.

Have a good night all.

My niece wound up asking me to come to the house when her Mom got home from the hospital (these day surgeries 🤔) so I went over as fast as I could. Had started the soup and threw in a blueberry cake, too, as I know my SIL loves that (as did my MIL). Both came out pretty good. SIL was tired but stable most of the afternoon, and woke up a little more as the day went on. We managed her pain medication so she was comfortable. No swelling or bleeding which were the two things I was worried about. She enjoyed the soup and the bread. Walked their dog several times, lol. (And there is a cat who keeps peeking at me, I wish he’d come and say hello but probably smells the dogs on me so is keeping his distance. Hopefully he doesn’t scare me if I doze off!) Got to talk and catch up for hours, which was fun. She rested. And I think enjoyed the company (as this is SIL who lost husband last yr). Currently on their couch and catching up on my reading. Just had an apple I brought rather than rifling through her cabinets, lol. (One benefit to not being home.) She did have some good snacks on hand, for the grandkids, we’ll see how I feel around 2am. 😋

@Pea-n-Me How kind that you are helping care for your SIL. I will pray for a good recovery for her. This must be hard for her with everything else she has been through.

@tazdev3225 I too have a park hopper pass. I will PM you and I hope we can find a good time. I will be going off by myself a bit. I know on Oct 18 we go to Epcot and I plan to do some alone time after they go back to the resort to the pool. That is the one day I have planned some alone time. I would really like to meet you.

So far dark and dreary. I have no idea if it is going to be sunny today or not. It is supposed to be in the 60s.

Have a good day.

Good morning all. I've been up since 5 but awake since 3:45am. I don't think my sleep is ever going to be any kind of normal so I'm just going with it.

I probably would have dozed off again at 5 if I'd stayed in my bed as that's when I stopped reading computer news trash.

Last night I went outside to park our cars and van back in the driveway. I had been cleaning up the edges of the driveway and had moved everything to get easier access.

Noticed DD's front tire was a bit low plus when I started her car the TPM warning came on. Did not want to go put air in it and neither did she so decided to leave it til this morning and check it early. It's not flat and she can drive it to the nearby gas station with air before she goes to work. If it had been flatter, I would have called AAA. The TPM on her car just shows the low pressure tire warning. On my car I can see how much air pressure each tire has, such as 28 (if low) or 34/36 if normal per tire. One more thing to check when I buy a new vehicle. I like seeing actual numbers on my screen instead of eyeballing it.

Her tires still have lots of warranty left so maybe Thursday I'll have it checked at Costco to see if there is a leak or a nail or something.

I may change out my tires as well before my next longer trip. Mileage is only 30K but the tires are over 5 years old. New tires make a difference in the ride so even if I could get another year safely, I figure the few extra dollars is worth the smoother ride.

Good morning all. Cool start to what will be a very warm day, near 90 again. I want to get to the market and home before it gets too hot. I am going to close up and put the ac on before we leave so it will be comfortable when we get home.
Nothing new going on here. All I had to do this morning was feed the cats and take the trash down. As suggested, I am taking the day off and relaxing. I did too much yesterday, but suprisingly I wasn't that tired, or sore last nite!

@bobbiwoz --glad you got the okay for him to stop using the walker in the house. Wish I could say that here!

I hope that @tazdev3225 and @Snowysmom get to meet up at WDW. That would be awesome!

Have a great morning all

Good morning to you all, hope everyone has a good day today.
Our Crape Myrtles are all blooming. It's a little late but we'll take it.
My rose of sharon has finally bloomed, I gave it a good wack last spring so maybe I stunted it somehow? I don't know, my Myrtles are starting to lose their flowers.
Clocks go back on November 6
What we call "okay, we can wear pajamas at 5PM now!" season! haha, something about the sun being up that keeps me from putting my pajamas on....
My husband finally got his shoes, and they gave us a break in schedule. He has ignored it. I may go crazy.
Ugh - after all the hassle those shoes caused you. I hope he gets on his schedule soon, hang in there!
Saw the cardiologist and he still has a heart. just kidding.
That made me laugh out loud! My husband is going for the stress test tomorrow morning, I'm fairly confident things will go well, but if not then we've caught things early (I hope).
The specialist got back to me, but just to put him in the regular appointment schedule - which is the middle of October right now.
I was wondering, can your sons primary Dr. call up the specialists office and get him seen sooner? I hope things go well for him -

Off on the road today, have a good one everybody-

Happy Hump Day! :sunny:

The weather in Cincinnati is crazy. Last day of summer and it's going to be 92 🥵, tomorrow is the first day of fall and we drop to a high of 74.

Didn't do anything yesterday after work. I put some chicken & salsa in the crockpot in the morning, made some brown rice when I got home. Not good at all 😠. I had to set the crockpot to cook for 10 hours since I was at work, way too long. Ended up having a bowl of cereal.

I was tired again, in bed and probably asleep by 9:00. 😴

Survivor and Amazing Race starts tonight!!! I told DS1 that his soccer games will probably be on hold for me, I'll see how much I'm into Survivor this season. The past couple of seasons I haven't been too invested.

Have a great day! :thumbsup2

:wave:hi and Happy Wednesday from a little bit sunny so far CA,

Truly thankful that dad is taking the day off and staying home! He needs to do this much more often. Thank you all again for your 🎧support and suggestions. An update is we're holding for now. Dad will be discussing options at upcoming medical appointments. We are enjoying the new season of Price is Right that started on Monday. Still not at all the same without Bob or even before Covid. However, still enjoyable to watch.

:hug:Bobbiwoz and continuing prayers for Tom!

So, kind of you dear, Pea, to bake the 🫐cake. Dad would love a piece, save him a slice, please! Continued healing prayers for your SIL and DH, as well. How is he doing?

Snowysmom and Taz, I love that very soon the two of you will get to be the first two members of our Quacker family to meet. I look forward to hearing about the fun you share together ::MickeyMo

Get some 🛌 dear Judique! I, too, woke up earlier this morning. I enjoyed earlier first time of talking with God along with doing some reading. Enjoyed some pancakes for breakfast. The low tire pressure warning light came on last week in my car, too. Dad will be going tomorrow to get it reset. This seems to happen once a year or so despite the tires being full. Prayers your DD’s car is A-okay and best for future new car shopping, as well, of course, too! Wishing you a peaceful Wednesday!

Wow that is a hot, Lynn for this time of year but then two weeks ago out here it was 100+! Get your errands some quickly and early indeed. Hooray that you are finally taking the day off! That brightened my morning to read. :donald:has wise advice indeed! Be happy, dear friends, and be at peace!

🙏for your DH, Easyas tomorrow. Pajamas are a wonderful invention indeed! In fact, there really should be a pajama smiley!

Keep cool as well, Footballmouse and enjoy some TV and ⚽ games, too.

Extra 🙏 :grouphug:PollyannaMom, Kirby, and Frog, thinking of all three of you!

Have a great day everyone. I will check back later :flower2:
