:grouphug:Frog! ITA with Pea! You got this! We are with you 100% of the way! :cheer2:

Quiet, overcast Sunday here. I will watch online worship a little later. Dad and I also recorded on Hallmark last night Christmas Town. I tried watching the opening of A Christmas Family Tree and the opening music just did me in there, not for me. Was the actual story good for anyone who has seen it? I hope so :)

Not a 🌽person, I'm sorry to say. I hope those of who are, enjoy some fresh corn this summer! :)

Sunday:hug:to all!

@Pea-n-Me said--Success is the best revenge, right? ;) Act like you don’t have a care in the world, you’re doing great, maybe even find a cute single to flirt work with. Why should he get to have all the fun? (I think I would find this a personal challenge.)

What she said!!! Perfect answer pea! I think I would also find it a personal challenge,,one to be met and conquered!

Oil changed, filter changed (kid next door came and helped, ,even he had a hard time getting it off,,too tight right from the factory apparently. I offered to weedwack around his garden for him as payment, but he declined. He asked me if I saw the big black bear the other day. It came right through his yard. NO I didn't, and I'm glad. But now I know what bent my shepherds hook with the feeders on it! I managed to straighten it using the vise in the cellar. I thought maybe it was deer, as they have done it in the past.
I also cleaned the air filter prefilter, and mowed the lawn. Spots needed it, spots didn't, but the whole thing got done while it's only 70 outside. Now it's done for at least another week. Squash almost ready to pick a few,,can't wait!

QOTD: How do you cook your corn on the cob?

I cook it in water with a tsp of salt added. I let it cook for about 10 minutes, depending on the size of the ears. Never tried backing it,,I would think you would have to let it sit and cool off before you could shuck it..so will be waiting to see how your's makes out @Pea-n-Me and btw...the 'strings' are called silk, lol!

I have cooked lobster, but not recently. I would just boil a huge pot of water and throw them in and let them cook until they turned bright red, which doesn't take long! WOW to the price of lobster meat in your picture. I assume the C&K in the sign means claws and knuckles? There used to be a local fish market I went to in MA that always had lobster meat. But theirs included the tail meat also. I think the most I ever paid there was $11.99 a lb (of course this was years and years ago!)

Afternoon all.
I made tacos/burritos for lunch, and we're having leftovers for dinner. DH and I are going to see the new Thor movie in a little bit. DS is choosing to not go with us, so whatever. Date afternoon, lol. I've already been up, picked up two orders at Target, popped into Starbucks (their new lime coconut bar is to die for), and did a quick shop at Publix for fresh stuff + a few other things.

I've never cooked lobster, but I love eating it! I can make some great crab legs, or a boil, though. 😋

For corn, I have a few different ways to do it. Sometimes we roast in the oven (or when we had a grill, on it) in the husk (open it, pull out the silks, and then close back up; add butter and seasoning before closing, sometimes). Sometimes I'll just put them on a pan on the stove (no water) and cook them to get that char on them; those we make into Mexican Street corn. Very rarely do I boil them; we prefer them roasted.

@Judique sounds like you have some fun travels coming up!
@frog3101 What other people think is their problem. Don't let them make it yours. you know the truth, and that's all that matters.
@lynxstch you make me tired. You are constantly go go going. I'm not going to talk to my DH about you, because it makes me look bad. :rotfl: We've had massive thunderstorms the last few days, and my ground is just too wet to mow. That's my story and I'm sticking to it....
@Pea-n-Me and @bobbiwoz love the flower pics. Pea, that caprese looks amazing. We've done the slider thing before; once we did it with Italian sausage, and mozzarella, and brushed the rolls with garlic butter, with pizza sauce on the side.
I'm sure I wanted to write more, but I can't remember what else I wanted to write. Ah, well.

everyone have a good day!

Sweet Corn.... my favorite way to cook corn probably sounds pretty “hillbilly” but we toast it outside over a wood fire. We have a large old tractor tire rim. We start a fire a few hours prior to get hot coals. We soak the corn in water for a few hours then put on a large grate over the fire. It is a lot of work so this is a once a year event. We usually have a large group and roast 4-5 dozen ears.

Sounds delicious!

We have corn on the cob often. We buy at farmers stand, and I just boil.

Our house is taken care of for the time we are gone! Just need someone to water the garden at DSis house!

Generally we cook it in water. We add one teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of sugar. Bring to boiling, then shut water off and let it sit for 20 mins or so. Comes out crispy and tasty.

Similar to this - just a bit of water with a little sugar, and let the corn steam.

Hold your head up and act like you own the place, frog.
What everyone else has said. It will be hard but you can do it!

Inspired by the conversation above.
I usually buy it frozen and then boil it but lots of times we have grilled it in the husk. I tried microwaving it the other day to see if the silk actually came off easier. I saw a lady do it on Instagram. She said to put two ears of corn with husk attached in the microwave for 8 minutes. Then chop off the stalk end and push the ear through. It worked for her. Well, I chopped off the end first and then cooked it in the microwave which was a mistake, it was a bear for me to chop off the end uncooked. I used an oven mitt to hold the corn but couldn't get the husk to slide off. So I took it off in layers and the silk did come off easily, I will say that. I probably will try it one more time but wait to cut the end off till after it's cooked.

Sounds like a lot of fun!

It's getting a little warm out there. It got up to 105 yesterday. It's currently 99 but feels like 105 according to WeatherBug. I am so thankful for air conditioning! We could really use some rain.

Dazed, hug, I think this world as a whole might just be a lot kinder overall if more folks chose to cherish simpler ways of connecting and doing some things! Enjoy your corn :)

Warm here, too, but nothing like for you, Kirby, keep cool!

Quiet afternoon around here. I'm going to get some mail ready to be sent this week ahead and try to use up every last drop of printer ink before changing the cartridges! Not too exciting but there you have it :)

Big disappointment. We forgot to do the corn! :headache: We’ll try it again tomorrow night…

But now that I’m reading this

I’m wondering if we both saw the same thing on IG and it was the microwave? I asked DH (I send him recipes) and he said oven! But now that I think of it, it may well have been microwave. Now will have to try and go back to find it!

And good grief, it’s HOT where you are, Kirby! Ugh!

That said, the steaks were really good, and we had baked potatoes and grilled zucchini and summer squash, also really good, 👍🏻

Working on a work project, been at it most of the day. Hopefully I can be done soon! 🐥

Good evening.

Set an alarm and got up extra early to leave the house by 7:30 to meet DS, DD, and their families at a beach on the bay. We all brought our own lunches. It was nice to sit and visit after we missed DS in Outer Banks. Then we went to a German Restaurant at about 2:30. Too early for dinner but we had all had enough beach. We each had a beer and a snack/appetizer. Then went for ice cream before heading to our separate homes.

Didn't really need a big dinner to I just made grilled cheese sandwiches.

@frog3101 Good luck this week. Think of all of us standing behind you cheering you on.

when it’s quiet at night we can hear the waves from our house.
That sounds wonderful. When it is quiet here and the wind is right, I can hear I95. :rotfl2:
QOTD: How do you cook your corn on the cob?
I bring a pot of water to a boil, add a tablespoon of sugar and the corn, and cook for 7 minutes.
if he'd like a night at the beach.
Which beach are you going to?
We forgot to do the corn!
Oh no! And we were all waiting.

Won't be long before I head to bed. Good night all.

German restaurant = Old Stein Inn? I haven't gone there in ages!

We'll be going back to Ocean City.

Your corn cooking time is closest to mine. I used to cook it longer, but corn here is so sweet and delicious in summer, you barely have to cook it.

And I remember doing it in the husks on the grill while camping. We peeled the husk back, removed the silk, put in some butter and then put it on the grill. As I remember it was quite good, but probably only did it a few times.

Good morning, everyone 🙂

Had a productive day yesterday - got the last of the big incoming stuff from my dad's situated and the first load of outgoing stuff over to the lodge.

Then DH and I went out to dinner. (I had clam strips - so yummy!)

I'm out with a kitty right now, of course, but later will be a little more decluttering and some errands.

I've been up super early (not unusual but unusual to be actually showered and dressed by 6am!).

The girls are coming today for their Mon-Tues Camp Gammie. So wanted to be organized and ready to go if DD is running late and calls to have me meet her somewhere.

Plan for the day included a trip to Merkle wildlife Sanctuary, but I now see the visitor center is closed. There are a few trails to follow, but one princess is not enamored by the outdoors as much as the other. There isn't too much inside the visitor center, but when visiting before, the park employee gave 100% attention to the kids, as there were no other visitors until we were departing. Plus younger DD was enamored by a huge white snake and actually held it. Yucch.

Maybe if they ever have to come on a Sunday, I'll do the Critical Area Driving Tour with them. I've enjoyed it in the past and that's the only day you can access that road as it is a protected ecological area. Check out the website above for any interest in this type of thing.

So on to plan b, which hasn't been determined yet. Some shopping for at least bread and milk must be done, and I'll drop by our friends house for fresh eggs. I may try to pick up a slip/slide type thing or a very small pool. Just to splash around. The bigger ones always end up being a nuisance to dispose of and manage. I hate storing or tossing them end of season.

Good morning! Looks like a nice day out! ☀️

I forgot to say. Sometimes, if we don’t have room on the stove, instead of boiling it, we put a bunch of corns on a plate with Saran Wrap over it and stick it in the microwave for ten or fifteen minutes. It comes out good that way, too.

Going to take DD out to lunch today for helping me with some office-type work yesterday. She taught me how to scan documents on my iPhone and organize them on my iPad, etc. (Pretty cool it can be done that way!) DS is off, too, so he might join us. He’s already left the house to golf with a friend. He would golf every day if he could!

Dogs are doing great. Have a really funny video of DD’s boyfriend taking Grady for a run. By accident, they put Toto’s leash on him. Well Toto was none too happy about that, knowing it was his leash (and maybe HE wanted to go for a run) so he ran between them around the whole track, off-leash, occasionally jumping up to try to retrieve his leash! It couldn’t have been better synchronized if they tried! 🤣 Getting lots of exercise so they settle at night. Toto is pooped! :lmao:

QOTD: I am reading two books for two different medical certifications. 🩺 (What a nerd!)

Have a good day, everyone! 🐣
