Always best to not feel an earthquake, Easyas! We had one a couple nights ago here. I was sitting on the couch and felt it. Dad who was doing kitchen work standing did not.

Good update, PollyannaMom, thank you for telling us :)

I've had a happy mail afternoon here. Expected packages including a very kind surprise and some postcards as well. Reminder, should any of you ever want a piece of happy mail, PM me :)

Wishing all of you a good night!

So a little mail update. Our mail is still terrible. My niece's wedding invitation was mailed and DS got his on Monday, DD got hers Monday or Tuesday, and mine finally came Wednesday.

Then I was tracking a small package of something I ordered. It arrived in Baltimore Sunday, was scanned out on Monday, then nothing. Then it was scanned out again on Thursday. It wasn't on informed delivery for today but when I checked again it said it had been delivered to my mailbox at 2:02 today. But, it wasn't there with the rest of my mail. I checked the mailboxes of both next door neighbors who aren't home. Nothing. I figured I'd have to go to the post office tomorrow. Then at dinner time, a neighbor from 2 doors down brought it up. And she said she also received mail for another neighbor. The address was legible and correct so I have no idea why it went to her.

I am not trusting the mail at all.

Good Saturday morning DIS'ers! Its 63 out now and comfortable, but going near 90 again. Summer weather is here!

@Breezy_Carol--I am with you on still not trusting the mail. To this day, I still never received either of the eyeglass prescriptions they mailed me from 15 miles away, in January! And I am still missing an Ebay package that was mailed on May 28. Seller resent it last week and I got it in 2 days, but never got the first one. There must be some giant 'area 51' for the USPS somewhere!
Today is going to be light chores. Stripping and remaking the bed, I want to wash the inside of the house windows where all the cats have put their nose prints when the windows were closed due to the ac being on. Then I want to dust and vaccuum the living room and dining room,, vac the kitchen and wash that floor and the 2 bathroom floors. Then I will call it a day. I watered everything outside early last evening with Miracle Grow, so those are all set for a couple of days

Have a nice morning, do something fun this weekend if you are able!

Good morning all- had a bit of a lie in & slept till 745. I’m outside w/ one of the dogs right now having our coffee…and enjoying a brief rain shower which seemingly showed up out of nowhere! That definitely pushes back my yard work timetable, luckily we drilled most of the holes for new trees last night. I guess I’ll busy myself with straightening up inside & laundry this morning. 😒
Maybe I’ll make my husband breakfast- not the norm around here, I usually only make a big Sunday breakfast.
Have a fantastic day everyone, rain stopped and sun is poking thru clouds now. I can feel the humidity coming!

Heat already building up here too, but no sign of rain. I watered last nite, so everything should be good for the day. 9:00 and all my chores are done. Bed stripped and remade, laundry done. Dusted the dining room and living room and vacuumed all the rooms. Shook rugs out, did dishes, made hubby some breakfast and now I quit, lol!

Been recovering from trip, lol. Still have to go grocery shopping. DS and girlfriend on road trip down South - they mentioned they saw a Piggly Wiggly grocery store yesterday and thought it was funny! Sending pics from their travels. DS had an ear problem so I told him to go to a CVS Minute Clinic, which he did, but the practitioner (not sure exactly what type it was) had never heard of “Swimmer’s Ear” before. Nonetheless, what she had him do seems to have helped the problem, so that’s good.

Speaking of Wegman’s, I first discovered that store on a trip to Buffalo, and fell in love with it, especially the home goods aisle! I think I spent an hour there and am still using some of the nice things I bought there! Sad part was, I didn’t discover it until the day before we were leaving and it was practically right next to our hotel! We’ve since gotten a few Wegman’s stores around here, but their home good aisles are not the same as the amazing one in Buffalo!

Well, today I FINALLY opened a new savings account with a higher interest rate, which I've been meaning to do for entirely too long. Then, I went to the library in person for the first time in a long time. And then I went up to the high school (I mentioned that in one of my recent posts) to see the construction progress. So far, it's just dirt, but they've completely torn up the old football stadium, and it looks weird.

Just popping in to say hi. Haven't had time to post...DGS#2 keeps me busy; just have had time to read for about 3-4 minutes, :surfweb: then it's off to do something with him. :hyper: :tigger::stitch:He wears me out.

We've gone shopping; watched a ton of Marvel movies; played board and card games; played toys and video games; read books and blown bubbles; and lots of eating out. No swimming, since we've had stormy weather almost constantly during the days here (plus Mother Nature decided to remind me that she is still around; she couldn't have stopped by last month, when I DIDN'T have a Disney trip planned...what a witch).

Finishing packing for our little Orlando trip. We decided to leave on Sunday, and stay in a hotel with DS and DGS, instead of getting up early on Monday and driving down (into rush hour traffic :drive:>:(:scared: ). Just means another small bag of clothes for all 4 of us (so we don't have to haul 3 suitcases up, only the one), as we are at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort, Bonnet Creek, for only Sunday night. Then Monday, DS and DGS go with DD to AoA, and DH and I go to Springhill Suites Flamingo Crossing. We tried to get into SS for Sunday, but they had no vacancies. We got a decent rate at WGOR on Hotwire, so went with it. We're going to leave about noon, and stop at Buc-ee's in St Johns for lunch and a little shopping. :cool1:

I still have to change the cat litter, and run it and the trash from the fridge out; vacuum the living room and bedroom; sweep and mop the kitchen and bathrooms; and DS has to wash dishes and load/run the dishwasher. One load of laundry in the washer, two more left to wash and dry; and leave out dry food and water for the cats for the week. That way, I'm coming home to just unloading the car, cleaning the litter again, refeeding and watering the cats, and washing our clothes from the trip. The cats are not going to be happy; they usually get 2 cans of soft cat food a day to split between the 3 of them (and free feed dry)....but no soft food while we're gone. I'll be lucky if they don't puke on my bed in revenge....

We managed to get San Angel for Monday; Tusker House for Tuesday (may cancel that, though...I really don't want to pay $50+ for chicken and veggies); Skipper's Canteen for Wednesday; and....OGA's for Thursday morning. Yep, 9:30am, I'm going to be at Oga's. It's fine....that early means I won't have drinks (ok...maybe just one :drinking1). I still have alerts up for later times, so if we can get one for afternoon, then we'll let the morning one go. I'm still hoping for Yak & Yeti (sort of); and either Sci-fi or 50s for dinner on Thursday. *********** has come through for me...all the reservations have been found through them. I did pay the $9 for a subscription for the month.

I'm hoping for a cold front to hit Orlando, to drop the temps to 70s with low humidity. :tink:pixiedust: :rotfl2:

Have a great week, everyone! :earsgirl:

Good evening.

We had what almost felt like a normal, not pandemic, day. This morning went and exchanged the propane tank for the grill and went to the Amish farm stand for tomatoes. After lunch and hanging out went to an old stand by Tex-Mex restaurant and ate inside. Then to the Fashion Center by Christiana Mall to go to the Lands End Store for DH. I walked into David's Bridal. and we went in REI and Nordstrom Rack just to look. Seemed like the good old days.

I may have mentioned that I am going to Maine in September for my niece's wedding. The attire is formal to semiformal, long or short dress. I have no idea where to find that or what to look for. This is out of my comfort zone. And I hate spending so much on a dress I'll wear once. And black is what I think of for a cocktail dress which is not appropriate for a wedding. Wish me luck.

I loved reading this! My husband and I were just discussing our theoretical ADR's at our upcoming trip after the first of the year! We are in the "we should go somewhere DIFFERENT phase of our dining reservation discussion ha ha!!

Christiana Mall

Headed up there tomorrow!

We got a metric you -know-what ton of stuff done today! Planted almost 100 trees. Had the auger attachments again for the baby excavator which helps immensely! Got all of our mowing done as well. Got some housework done as well.

Dinner this evening was venison tenderloin, over cilantro rice with grilled peppers & zucchini on the side. Watching a previously recorded program, a short documentary about embalmers in the south, and the tradition of the black funeral home. It's really interesting.

Have a great evening everyone-

That’s awesome that you’re earning more interest, Allison. I get a few cents a month. But hey every penny, right?

Hugs, B&B, time of month is plain no fun whenever it strikes! I’m glad you got to have some fun DGS #2 time. Kids do have amazing energy levels. Sometimes I sure wish they’d give a dash to me, same with puppies :)

I love that you shared your day felt close to normal, Carol, bright hope indeed! I’m sure not a dressing up fan so not much help there. Whatever you end up with it will be lovely and the wedding joyous.

Easyas, you and Carol just missed one another yet again! One normal day you, Carol, and Lynn really ought to get together :)

Have a good night everyone.

Good morning all. Heat wave continues for through at least Tuesday, with temps in the 90's, bearable for us..but I feel so bad for those in the PNW who are having the awful heat. I never watch news on tv..but NBC news came on while I was doing something else. All of the 'headline' stories were just awful. First it was about the collapes in Miami Beach and all the missing people and the fire that erupted. Then it was a hot air balloon crashing into a power line, falling to the ground and killing 5 in New Mexico. Then it was the crash at the Tour De France that a spectator with a sign caused. The only 'good' news story was about the first cruise ship finally going back out to sea. It's no wonder I never put the news on :( It was so depressing!

@Breezy_Carol It is so nice to read that you had an almost 'back to normal' day. We all need life to return to some semblance of normalcy very soon!

No plans for the day. I watered everything last nite, just fed the cats, filled the bird feeders and birdbaths..will do the birdbaths again later so it stays cool. A couple of the outdoor cats love jumping up on them and drinking out of there.

Making homemade clam chowder for dinner. I have a quart of 1/2 and 1/2 I want to use up before it goes bad, and it's cool enough in here to make soup for dinner, lol

Have a nice morning all..stay cool!

Up early and giving the cats a quick walk before getting on the road. DH's friend works nearby, so he will stop in each day to give them their wet food and freshen up their water, but he says they never actually come out where he can see them. He calls them our phantom cats.

It's already a little sticky out. I'm adding a bit of water to the pool while I'm out here, and then after walks, I'll fill the hummingbird feeder and do up the last few dishes. Both the guys sleep in later than I do, so I hope to be almost ready by the time they get up.

'll fill the hummingbird feeder

Thanks for the reminder! I'm outside now, having my coffee and checking my emails...looking right at a feeder that needs filled, so thanks! Have a safe trip!
Feeling a little 'crinkly' and stiff this morning, probably from bending over and crouching over all those saplings yesterday. I think once I get moving and walking around it will diminish though.
I think dinner this evening will be leftovers & odds and ends from freezer.

Have a good day everyone -
