My pickle juice soaked chicken was very moist and tasty. Thank you to whoever mentioned that.

I got my garden replanted. It is just a little garden with three rows of flowers and two tomato plants surrounded by marigolds. None of the flower seeds from a month ago germinated so I tried again with different zinnia and sunflower seeds.

Good Monday morning QUACK'ers. Another week gone by, another one started. 64 degrees outside, going to mid 80's. At least I can finish weedwacking the bank today, and the kitchen floor needs a washing , as do the rugs. My knees were both aching overnite, so hopefully it will stop so I can get those 2 things done.

Running out of things on the DVR to watch, last nite we did American Ninja Warrior and 2 old Hawaii 5-o's (the newer versions).

@Breezy_Carol--glad to hear your pickle soaked chicken was good, will have to try it one of these days.

Have a nice morning all

Lego Masters on Fox, is an entertaining completion of outrageous lego creations

Sorry but I find that show very annoying,,watched the first 2 last year, and decided against it this year
Hubby slept in this morning,,which let me get the kitchen floor vac'd, and washed, (rugs are in the washer now)..after he got up I made the bed, fixed his breakfast and got the rest of the weedwacking done. It's getting warm out there already and the bugs are still as noisy as ever. There are a ton of dead ones laying all over the place, but just as many live ones flying around.

Good morning!

So many TV shows I've never seen. DH and I are looking for something to watch on Netflix or Disney+. We watched Breaking Bad but had enough of that type. Tried Ozark but it was more of the same. Also enjoyed The Kominsky Method. I like Frankie and Grace but he doesn't. He likes things that are political like Homeland but I don't. It's hard to find a middle ground.

Had a follow up doctor appointment this morning because my BP is still higher than it should be. Apparently hereditary because I really watch what I eat and am not overweight. She added another Rx to try to get it down. Hopefully this works.

Have to grocery shop sometime today and have a dance lesson. DH and I have been practicing in the kitchen. Much easier without two goldens trying to join in the fun.

I was laughing trying to picture the dogs trying to dance along with you, a picture or video would be so helpful,,lol!

Thanks for mentioning Homeland. I've never seen it but have heard good reviews. DS has access to PLEX which he shares with us so I'll watch it there. We only have the basic Suddenlink channels so its nice to have another way to see stuff. I finished The West Wing yesterday (actually finished it up on PLEX when Netflix discontinued it at the end of last year) and need another series to start. I like Unforgotten on Netflix, it's a crime drama. The 3rd season is coming out on PBS in July. I can't wait!

QOTD: Do you ever find yourself engrossed so much in a series that the characters are almost like family? Or that you find yourself thinking about them during the day?
I do that, think about the show and almost feel like they're family in the long series.

Went to Ham Orchards in Terrell this morning with DD and the GKs. Had some soft serve peach/strawberry swirl ice cream. It's sooooooo good! We got some peaches, peach salsa, cherry fried pie (for DH), black bean and corn relish and a mac and cheese to throw in the oven for later this week. Their black berry patch was open but we did that last year. Not too fun in this heat.

Good Morning and Happy Monday Quacker friends :)

Love all the extra shares including adorable grandkid pictures and shares of planting and of course, a cute Minnie photo, Lynn :) All so bright and encouraging! Tomorrow it is supposed to be 99 here! Wow, I won't be cold in the least! I will take the heat (so Blessed to have that good A/C) over being freezing all the time.

QOTD: Do you ever find yourself engrossed so much in a series that the characters are almost like family? Or that you find yourself thinking about them during the day? I really did love some of the early episodes of Touched by An Angel. Not a fan at all of the last two seasons because to me they were less faith based and often a bit darker/more sensational in storyline. Growing up I really did like Family Ties and cheered when I learned that Michael J Fox and Tracy Pollan truly had gotten married.

Hugs to all for a good day!

Good day everyone. Hope you all had a bang-up weekend. A valve broke in my washer, but we caught it in time and Amazon promises to have the replacement in the mailbox today! I had a super relaxing day of reading and chilling out yesterday, it was nice! But now I need a new book! I have one I've not gotten to yet, The Radium Girls that I think is next up.

I can't think of any off the top of my head...

I wanted to take a moment and respond to everyone's posts over the weekend, but the day has gotten away from me. I'll try to play catch up this evening or tomorrow morning!

Breezy Carol - I did just see this and couldn't recall if you mentioned it, I know you like this kinda thing....I'm going to try to see it from my porch tomorrow if it's not cloudy.

DH and I just finished "The Queen's Gambit" on Netflix. It was excellent!

On Disney+, I've been into the behind the scenes stuff. Here is the link to a bunch of them with descriptions.

I wouldn't say like family, but I do find myself engrossed enough in some series to care what happens. "This is Us" comes to mind, "Grey's Anatomy", and lately "Rebel".

Growing up I really did like Family Ties

Me too! I even loved the theme song.

I hope you get a good new book, Easyas! Yikes but so glad you caught the washer valve in time.

I also loved the Family Ties theme song, PollyannaMom! I loved how the pictures of each family member were apart of it. I thought that made it more touching. I should Google and see if any episodes are available online. Haven't watched that show in forever!

Warming up here. I hope all of you are enjoying the nicer weather :)

I'm home from my long awaited hair cut (and ahem - color). So glad to make the change. I cut a few inches of rat nest frizziness off.

Sorry I still haven't caught up to the past few days posts.
Carol- thanks for the Longwood Garden photos. One of these days I'm going to get back up there!
Good luck to everyone dealing with Cicadas still. Our vets office - just 25 miles north of us had dead ones all over the pathway last week. I can't believe we got so lucky to miss them.

I'm expecting a work call shortly, so I may have to keep this short.
Dinner will be leftover leg of lamb and a salad-
We STILL haven't gotten around to signing up for Disney + & watching Fantasia again. It's on the list...gotta get to it.
My in person yoga classes start this week - yay!

Had taco salad and fruit for dinner. I took a long nap..we are under a severe thunderstorm watch..sky is pitch black and scary looking.

@easyas123 for every dead cicada on the ground, there are still thousands flying around. I cannot wait till they are gone and their creepy sounds are gone too! I color my own hair,,but I badly need inches cut off mine..it's way too long, haven't had it cut since last May (as in 2020) lol. Maybe I will call tomorrow and see if I can get in sometime later this week.

@flyingdumbo127--geez Mona..99 is a little too hot, from what you have been having ..way too warm, way too fast..I hope you have AC in your apartment!

Have a nice evening all..I am probably shutting down the computer , in case the storms hit, which it looks like they will :(

Hooray for haircuts and in person classes, Easyas!

Lynn, my own hair has not been cut since before Christmas of 2019! I never did get it cut before the pandemic. I indeed hope you are able to get a haircut (for both of us)! soon :)

Yes, thankfully we do have brand-new (as in bought last year by sadly being placed by the building's owner in an awful situation) AC's.

I may have shared part of this with all of you. I'll try to make this very long story as short as possible! is Pre pandemic in January of last year, the owner to this building out of the blue decided to replace all the doors and windows within the building. Our new windows, that we had zero say in or knowledge would be this type, have no removable slats the way our old windows did to where a window AC can be installed. The old AC's my Dad had actually purchased on his own years ago. One in the back room was his choice due to the heat of the first summer he lived here. The second was a replacement for an original unit (possibly here since the building was built in 1960) that died and the owner (not same owner as now) refused to replace. In other words, out of pocket, Dad had bought 2 new AC's for this apartment already.

We were told when the old window AC's were taken out that they would be replaced with new ones to go inside the new windows. Last Spring there was a weekend were it was almost 100. We had no AC and let me just say both Dad and I were definitely health affected! :( At least with the cold, you can layer in clothes or add blankets. What ended up happening, I still can't believe this, was that ALL window (except for ours) of the old (and believe me the AC next door was most likely original to this building because it had a 30+ year tenant in it until he passed away) were re-installed through the walls! I am not kidding. This is bad enough in itself. As most of you may already know, window and wall AC's vent differently! Our old window AC instruction manual in black warning letters said to never install it through the wall! The owner did not seem to be fazed by that at all :( Plus, for a good 3 months, our old AC's had been sitting (we had been led again to believed they would be replaced with new units and had been long thrown away) inside a filthy storage room in the basement during a pandemic! :scared1:

I pray all of you already know it is never my intent to speak ill of anyone. I sincerely shared all this as a FYI to anyone renting to always, always get any promises of significance in writing at the time of they are promised from the owner!

Yep you guessed the end result, Dad and I had to purchase very expensive for us (through the wall AC's cost a TON more than window AC's) two brand new through the wall AC's. One "good" thing was that one of the workers went to Home Depot to pick them up for us and later two workers installed them at no charge to us. They did work amazingly well which lol they better have! Should God-willing we ever get to move, of course, these AC's will be staying and up the value of the apartment. Oh well, we are so Blessed to truly know this Summer we will be healthy and cool.

Thanks for listening, friends :)

Thanks for listening, friends :)

Of course!

Made a "date" like the before times 😆 😆 😆 to catch up with my cousin & her husband to meet up with me & my husband for lunch halfway between our respective homes in MD & NJ. I've had the chance to see my cousin recently - but not her husband. The 4 of us are really tight, so I'm very much looking forward to it.

Got my work phone call taken care of and I'm happy with the resolution that came of it.

Lynn - enjoy that thunderstorm. I'm turning the AC down tonight. I've had two nights of waking up hot and hades and I know that I'm in for a several day long cycle of it (ugh hello 50, looking at you) and told my husband to toke that thing down!

@FlyingDumbo, I hate to hear about your landlord troubles with the windows and A/C units and so glad you were able to get it resolved. The heat is nothing to play around with, I don't know why some people can be so insensitive and make such poor decisions regarding their tenants. The heat index was up to 111 degrees today. I can't imagine what it would be like to not have A/C even though we didn't have it for awhile when I was little. We are having black outs in our area for hours at a time, fortunately our electricity has stayed on. ERCOT is asking everyone to turn up their A/C a couple of degrees and not run heavy appliances unless we have to until late in the evening. Shades of last February appearing, I hope they get their act together and get things fixed. We have so many people moving here and the grid is not big enough nor is it in good repair.

We had left overs tonight for dinner. Easy clean up tonight!

Thank you both so much

Easyas, love all your uplifting shares of upcoming fun to come. So hopeful indeed! :)

Kirby, yikes! You please stay cool and take care! It definitely was not a fun experience to go that weekend with no AC and not be able to go anywhere that had it due to the pandemic! If this hadn't been so early on into Covid, we may have paid for a hotel or of course, pre plague, could have stayed with friends. I sure will never take AC for granted again that's for sure.

Good evening.

Dance lessons are going well. It is nice to have something to do together.

Mona, so sorry about your AC problems.

I was laughing trying to picture the dogs trying to dance along with you, a picture or video would be so helpful,,lol!
No pictures of them helping us dance and both dogs have since crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

QOTD: Do you ever find yourself engrossed so much in a series that the characters are almost like family? Or that you find yourself thinking about them during the day?
Not really that engrossed but some that I care about - Schitt's Creek. I hated to see it end. And relate to - The Middle, the episode when Axel moved out and got off his family's family cell phone plan came right around when my DS went off our plan so it really hit home.

Thank @easyas123. I just heard about it today. The problem is that I watch the live feed which is on delay so if I see it launch, it is already too late to see in the sky here. I have to look at the sky before lift off.

DH and I just finished "The Queen's Gambit" on Netflix.
We did watch that and enjoyed. And thanks for the info about Disney behind the scenes.

I can't believe we got so lucky to miss them.
We read that southern Maryland doesn't have cicadas because of the sandy soil. Maybe it is the same for you.

we are under a severe thunderstorm watch..
Here too. I could go for a good storm.

After dance , we stopped and grocery shopped on the way home. Dinner was chili and salad. And I got a watermelon. It is so good.

I am reading American Dirt and it is really good.

Good night all.
