Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I appreciate so much all the prayers from each of you, thank you :grouphug:

Good news picture update thanks to Pea! The sign I had intended to get was sold by a third party seller. The earliest it would come (I chatted with Amazon) would indeed be AFTER Father's Day. So, I added the image to my CVS photo account and was able to order a 5X7 for just about $3 that way :D Next time, Dad goes to the 99 Cent only store, I can have him buy a 5X7 frame. Problem much more cheaply solved!

Even cheaper if you print a lot of pictures is getting a printer that can do pictures. I will say the difference in going from my cannon that just had the black and 3 colors to one with the photo black to finally upgrading to one with not only photo black but photo blue is quite dramatic. Then again I will end up printing up to 45 pictures just for 13 year old's photography project exhibits for fair not to mention all the photos that have to go in her record book to show completion of various activities in her project book and other photos that both girls need for their record books. I save some by getting my ink from a place that recycles old containers and refills them as well. I only have to go elsewhere for anything smaller than a 3.5x5 (if I can find paper as often the smallest I can find is 4x6) and larger than 8x10 though I can do printing on regular paper for a standard 8.5x11 size. When I have needed to call customer support at Cannon I have gotten someone actually on the East Coast of the United States which with my hearing loss makes it a lot easier for me to understand them because I am not having to deal with an accent of someone who is speaking English as a 2nd language and often only what is pertant to common questions in the call center.
I am looking at getting a portable printer as well that can go with me for other things though from my research those are really only good for black and white text only documents which is what I would need it for for printing out some reports for a couple of things the girls are in that I help out with.

Good evening.

Rainy cold day here. Hung around the house this morning then went to the Ithaca Science Center. Kids had a good time, and so did the adults. Stopped at a winery for a tasting then home where I made meatball sandwiches for dinner. I am well into a bottle of red wine so amazed I can type this.

B&B, great job on the weight loss. So hard to do.

Mona, prayers for your dad.

Have a good evening all.

Welp the rain has descended and so goes the weekend. Before it started we did get the auger on the smaller of the two excavators and got the 12 rose bushes planted out front. Next up will (hopefully) be changing out the auger bit for the larger on and drilling the holes for the large bushes/trees tomorrow afternoon during a lull in the rain. Slated to have the guys show up at 6 AM to start planting on Sunday but I'm not at all sure the weather will cooperate, so there is a 50% chance it will be us Sunday afternoon and all day Monday planting them ourselves. Doesn't matter, we will get it done come hell or high water....and it's looking a lot like high water at the moment!

Tomorrow morning, after a lie in, I'm going to start cooking the turkey bones down for turkey soup. I'll do a bit of laundry folding - I am woefully behind...it's morphed into Mt. Laundry again, and then we will see what the weather is doing. While the rain has seriously derailed our weekend plans, we really really needed it. So tomorrow will be turkey soup & salad, Sunday will be burgers. I also picked up hot dogs for my husband (I don't eat them) who likes to have them grilled once or twice a year.

I actually managed to get a bit of laundry done today, and stripped & remade the bed. I order and received yesterday a new mattress pad and so tonight we shall see if that makes a difference or not.

Thinking about signing up for Disney Plus, don't currently have it or any other streaming service outside of Amazon Prime. Husband would like to rewatch Fantasia and I'd like to finally get around to seeing Hamilton. Not sure how often we'd watch though. Well, we will see what we end up doing.

Have a good evening everyone!

What Karen Kingsbury books have you enjoyed reading, Kirby?
I've read the Bailey Flanigan series so far. Looking forward to reading more.

Cicada's are still emerging,,since they said they had a 2-3 week span of when they come and go, and it's already been 2 weeks, and if they are still emerging, how are they going to be gone by the end of next week?
Where do they go once they have emerged?

Popped into a Wawa for first time w/o mask, still feels a little weird - but I'm going with it!
I know how you feel. I can go without a mask in most stores now but I feel so strange not wearing one.

So, a little brag here...y'all know that I have decided to drop some weight (some...lol...I'm trying to lose HALF my body weight...which will put me in the 'appropriate' range for my height, almost)...and since last Tuesday, when I started taking it seriously, I have dropped....4.5 lbs!
Congratulations! Instead of gaining weight over the last year I lost 12 pounds. I've been maintaining it for the last five months. I'd like to lose more but seem to be stuck on a ledge. I'll keep trying though.

Went to Victoria Secret today with DD. I corralled the GKs while she looked. Lou Lou was fascinated with everything. She looked up at a mannequin and said "Nice butt". We, plus the sales clerk just died laughing.

Vacuumed the carpet and cleaned our bathroom. All set to do whatever I want this weekend. DD is in charge of the tile floors and her bathroom.

Dinner tonight was Schlotskys. The onions on my sandwich are biting back tonight.

@Kirby---Where do they go once they have emerged?

Once they come out of the ground,,they latch onto trees, bushes, flowers, houses, anything they can, until they emerge from their 'shells'. The males fly up into trees and start that horrible noise they make looking for mates. Then they mate, the females cut small slits in trees, lay their eggs, and then die. Not to be seen (at least this variety) for another 17 years. Kind of fascinating when you think about it, but I think they are gross, lol!

Good soggy Saturday morning everyone. We had a lot of rain yesterday, it's still raining now, calling for rain
most of the day, now only 53% tomorrow. Temp is 53 now, but our high will be 50, 40's overnite . Brrr..might need the heat again.

Stepson called late last nite, he and one of the granddaughters is coming up this weekend. Probably late tonite, stay at a hotel, then we will see them tomorrow. Then he can head home (near Ocean City) Monday morning while the traffic is still light. Haven't seen him since October, and we haven't seen the girls since last July I think it was. So it will be a nice change of pace.

Light cleaning today, both bathrooms, pass the steam mop on the kitchen floor, and change the sheets is my plan of action.
Going to put a roast pork in the crockpot for dinner tonite.

Back to sleep for another hour or so,,I have a headache and a stiff neck (think I slept crooked last nite)
Have a nice morning all!

Whoo hoo...finally a resolution to my ebay case! Made my day!! Seller was removed from ebay, sellers account was shut down by paypal. At least that's one scammer who won't be taking advantage of buyers anymore!!!!!

Case closed in your favor

We reviewed the case you filed on May 17, 2021 and have decided in your favor.

We've issued a refund of $77.37 USD to you

What a crappy day weather-wise. It's only 9 AM but we've had breakfast (scrapple & poached eggs) and cleaned up after that and I've got turkey soup started...currently seeking the internal fortitude to actually get dressed and do something productive. I did walk by the multitude of boxes stacked up in the dining room that need to go to Goodwill. I may haul them up there.

Our chance of rain all day has diminished down to 40% chance,,so maybe we will be able to salvage the afternoon and tomorrow out of it. I hope stepson waits till after dinner tonite to drive down, or he will be driving in the pouring rain it's showing down that way. I stripped and remade the bed, swept the kitchen, lightly cleaned both bathrooms. Put a roast pork with seasonings and sliced pink lady apples in the crock pot..and I am done for awhile.Hope your soup turns out well. I love turkey, but for some reason I am not a fan of turkey soup, lol!

I will look up the Bailey Flanigan series, thanks, Kirby. Congratulations to you on your own weight loss!

Still keep safe and warm (and dry) Lynn! Glad you will have some family visitors who you are looking forward to seeing tomorrow :)
HOORAY that you finally got your refund!

You also keep well and warm, Easyas! I hope you and your dog crew enjoy lounging by the warm fire later.

I hope all of you have a good Saturday! Thank you again for your Dad prayers and picture help yesterday as well :)

Just sitting here waiting for the rain to make it's scheduled cease fire mid-late afternoon in the hopes of getting a few things done outside. I've got to cancel the guys coming to work tomorrow again, the rain will start back up overnight and be continuing on throughout the morning/early afternoon. Hoping we can get them in ourselves a bit this afternoon/evening and then again Sunday afternoon/evening & Monday.

Did get my boxes & bags of stuff out of the dining room and up to the Goodwill store. It was about a hour r/t drive, but honestly - it's not like I was doing anything else! I even got all my laundry folded, and a load in the dryer & washer as I type.

Go @Kirby! :cheer2:

((huggles)) to those who need or want them.

Woke up this morning to find our thermostat wasn't working at all, and the 'emergency heat' kicked on. The complex put in "SmartRent" features earlier in the year, and although I like the convenience, sometimes it is just frustrating. it took until noon to get maintanence here, and come to find out, the float valve? was stuck, which shut off the whole thermostat. Took the maintanence guy about 2 minutes to diagnose it, and about 15 to fix it (including going down to his car to get his shop vac). Well, we can fix it next time, now that we know what it is. Much cooler in here now, 76 instead of 95.... It was actually cooler ( 88 ) outside than inside!

I didn't walk this morning; I am taking a cheat day.

We ordered Chili's for lunch, since I didn't want to cook with the thermostat issue; had 1/2 of a Southern Smokehouse Burger and 1/2 an order of the southwest eggrolls. I'm sort of working on laundry; I have 2 loads of towels and 4 loads of clothes, but I want to wait for it to cool down a bit before I run the dryer; whatever I don't get done today, I'll have to do tomorrow, along with our bedding. I forgot how many loads I have to do with DH working...his work khakis are a load by themselves! I was supposed to return a couple of Amazon orders to Kohls today, but we were busy with the thermostat, and I haven't showered yet (again, waiting for the house to cool, lol), so I'll have to do that tomorrow as well.

I ordered DH three t-shirts from Kohls for father's day, from DS; and 2 shirts for DS. I picked up some new bath sheets at Kohls, Vera Wang brand, that feel so soft and plush; I got 4 of them for less than $60 with coupons/KC, when they are normally $50 each. I have $30 in KC to spend after 6/1, so woot.

I found these new popsicles at the store, and they are pretty darn good. Goodpops We've had the watermelon agave, which are sooo flavorful; and the lemonade cherry 'bomb' pops, which are pretty tart. I have the orange creamsicle ones to try tonight. They are pricey, but man are they good, and very lowcal!

After reading this my thoughts were "what was their purpose then, just to mate and die?". So I googled the purpose of cicadas and found a lot of information. "Cicadas are mostly beneficial. They prune mature trees, aerate the soil, and once they die, their bodies serve as an important source of nitrogen for growing trees. When cicadas come out, they're eaten by just about anything with an insectivorous diet." Which led me to thinking what was the purpose of June bugs. Well, Cicadas apparently have more purpose than June Bugs. Beyond being a food source, they are very destructive and annoying. They've been flying around for a month now. I haven't seen any Cicadas yet and I know that they are annoying the heck out of some of you but there is nothing like sitting outside on a late July/early August evening and hearing them croak/sing, whatever they are doing. It makes me feel like all is right with the world.

Whoo hoo...finally a resolution to my ebay case! Made my day!! Seller was removed from ebay, sellers account was shut down by paypal. At least that's one scammer who won't be taking advantage of buyers anymore!!!!!
That's great!!!!

I slept in this morning, almost 9:00. Now it's 11:00 and I haven't eaten breakfast yet. What a lazybones I am! I plan on spending the day organizing stuff in my mom's room.

Got side tracked with breakfast and talking with DH and now it's almost 1:00. Just finished cleaning the kitchen and DD is back from a trip to Kroger. As soon as her groceries are put away I'll start some meatballs in the crockpot for dinner tonight. She brought home two bags of Rainer cherries. Yum!

The rain stopped for a bit and we were able to hustle and get 15 trees drilled and planted. Had to use the 2’ auger, the balls of trees bigger. Thank goodness for heavy equipment 🤣 gonna have supper and then a soak in hot tub. We are going to be feeling this in the morning and we’ve got about 20 more to try to get in tomorrow afternoon after the rain. But I’m really very pleased with how the first line looks- it’s been a long time in the planning so it’s nice to see it actually come to fruition.

Glad you enjoyed a nice lunch, B&B, and got a popsicle treat, too :) You did good Kohl's shopping! I've looked briefly on Kohls.com, it seems online at least for some things choices are very limited. Is it that way in store? God-willing things keep getting brighter and then there would be more options including one great day my going to Kohl's and maybe Penney's too, in person :)

That is creepy, Pea!

Good for you, Easyas! Enjoy some R&R tonight.

May Gray has stuck around here all day. It is supposed to be 80 on Monday! We shall see. I hope all of you are having a good weekend :)

:bday: belated @sweetpeama!

Sounds like you're having a nice trip...@Breezy_Carol

@flyingdumbo127 Prayers for your dad.

Quote @Pea-n-Me....I don't know what happened to the real quote thing....lol
"Those cicadas are nasty! I want to say I have seen (and heard) them before, but not sure. Thankfully, none here. 😅"

I feel the same way about the cicadas...so glad we don't have them. LOL Love the picture of Toto.

I am so proud of myself.
Good for you....congratulations! I really need to get moving myself....I gained 20 lbs last year, so so bad. :sad2:

Congratulations! Instead of gaining weight over the last year I lost 12 pounds. I've been maintaining it for the last five months. I'd like to lose more but seem to be stuck on a ledge. I'll keep trying though.

OMGosh....that's terrible. Glad it was fixed.

She brought home two bags of Rainer cherries. Yum!
Yum...I love Rainer cherries. I haven't seen any in stores yet.

We had a great taco dinner last night on the patio with DH, my dad and our friends. Then our friends came back by this morning and DH made breakfast. The guys have been working in the yard and then we may go over to our friends to go swimming in their pool. It's a hot, hot, day today. Or maybe not...I just realized it's already 3pm....wow. maybe we'll save swimming for tomorrow.

Yikes....I really messed up the quote thing...lol Looks like I may have fixed it all.

Warning Major Vent Here

I have been asking DH and 16 year old for help around the house for weeks now. Among other things we have our old fridge on our front deck which can be seen from my brother's house and he is having a party for my niece's high school graduation in 8 days. Needless to say we need to get it moved to my dad's shop ASAP but it needs to be cleaned out from one of 16 year old's science experiments gone wrong. Since DH is the one who gave her permission to do that one he can help make sure it is done. I physically can not get down to get the lower shelves and I really don't want to hear it from my dad on how messsy it is.
All those 2 want to do is sleep and play video games when they are not at work. I try and do what I can but end up over doing it and then I am hardly able to move which I don't have the luxury of taking a couple of days to rest and recooperate with having to go pick up 16 year old from work 2-4 days a week depending on how many days she works. Since she and DH start work about the same time and it is not too far from her work to his work he does drop her off so that saves me a trip. 13 year old does help but you have to be very specific in directions such as pick up the paper plates that fell off the top of the garbage because it wasn't taken out and put them in the backup can not pick up all the trash that fell out of the trash can because it was over flowing.
