Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Sun finally came out and it warmed up to 75.

Went out for a drive to Middletown to go to the Lowes there. They had something in stock that wasn't in the local one. Then went to the Giant for something that isn't carried at my Food Lion. Then Food Lion for something that is on sale and they still don't have. Final stop at Staples to return the pencil sharpener I bought the other day because I found a nicer one at home.

I am having a hot dog on the grill and DH bought some Phillips tuna burgers he wanted to try. Will make a salad, and use up the last of the asparagus I bought.

Hello! I'm Allison. I see this thread all the time, but have never posted in it. I see "weather" seems to be a current/common topic, so I thought I'd show off these pics of the absolutely brilliant, bright rainbow we had the other night. Pictures definitely don't do it justice. And maybe now I'll post more often since I've broken the ice and introduced myself and made my first post. :)

Stunning!

Good morning all--welcome to another week! They are calling for more rain today..guess if April showers really bring May flowers, we will all be inundated with flowers!

I am a little stiff and sore today, but I expected that. Not a lot on my to do list today except his Drs appts and stopping at the store for a few things

Will be back later to check in, going back to bed for an hour or so

Have a good day!

Good morning all.

Busy week ahead of me. I get my Covid shot today and I am really apprehensive. I HATE needles. It is the J&J one so one and done but I am worried about after effects. I will be taking Tylenol as soon as I get home and pushing lots of fluids as I read that helps.

My husband has the cardiologist tomorrow and we get the results of his tests. I am really hoping I am not to sick from the shot to take him and then Thursday he gets his second shot. I may have to take a run to the grocery store up the road a bit for Gatorade. Philly charges an extra tax on Gatorade as well as other "sugary" drinks. A $1 bottle of a drink costs $2 after the surcharge. I live just at the city border so an easy solution for me.

I canceled my Alaska Cruise til next year. I just don't want to be one of the first ships out with cases rising again. We are talking Disney late November but now he is saying I should go alone because I like that. I can't get his to understand that I was planning both of us going.

The new dishwasher is working like a dream and the Best Buy agent held true to her word. I got a check in the mail on Saturday. That did make me feel a bit better.

Please keep my grandson in your prayers, and my daughter's family. My grandson was exposed to Covid by a friend and he is showing some symptoms. He said he can't smell or taste anything. He is getting tested today but I am scared for them all. My son in law said he hopes they have to quarantine so he can finish the work on the basement so I guess that is a positive way to look at it. It is just worrisome. I am glad I am getting the shot even if I hate needles. I want this disease to go away.

Hope everyone has a great day.

@tazdev3225--Good luck with your shot Laurie..you should be fine. Hubby got his second Moderna one last Thursday, and had no side effects from either one.
Both of my stepsons (grown), had Covid early on. Their only symptoms were the loss of taste and smell, and it returned within a few days.
Sending prayers for your grandson and his whole family.
Good luck to your hubby at the cardiologist tomorrow..my hubby goes to both the heart and COPD clinics today. Hoping there are no worrisome results from his low dose Cat Scan last week. They said they would call immediately if there were any concerns, and noone called, so I am not expecting them to say elsewise today.
Keep telling your hubby that you are planning your WDW trip for the both of you. He needs it as much as you do, we all need a vacation after the last year!

:grouphug: and Good Morning to all,

Taz Dev, keeping you and your grandson in much prayer. Cheering you on, my friend, from afar. Lynn, prayers continued for your DH and you to get some rest as well!

Overcast and cool here this early Monday. It is supposed to be upper 80's by the end of the week!

Have a good day, my friends :)

My daughter called and my grandson tested positive. So far his symptoms seem mild, just a loss of taste and smell. No one else is showing symptoms. She made sure to find out what my risk was as I took the boys to school last week. Thankfully I was with them briefly before he showed symptoms, did not have close contact with him and he did have a mask on so I am good to get the shot. I just pray that my other grandsons and my daughter and son in law will be OK. They are all in quarantine for 2 weeks.

I called my mother and right away she tells me of someone who died from it yesterday at church. NOT what I needed to hear at that time.

Prayers for a quick recovery for them would be appreciated.

Hugs, Taz Dev, continued prayers my friend. I am sorry your mother chose to share that with you :( Not needed, IMO.

Thank you. I should have known better. Thankfully other than no taste or smell my grandson is doing OK.

I AM VACCINATED!!! I was terrified but joked around with the firefighters running the vaccination clinic and it was over before I realized it began. I have already taken Tylenol, will push fluids and am icing and moving the arm a lot. So far so good. I will just head to bed early tonight and hopefully will sleep through the worst of it. I got the J&J as hoped for and thursday my husband gets the second shot. I think a Disney vacation should start being planned soon.

Hubby had both appts and both went well. COPD Dr added Singulair to his meds to see if it helps with all the allergy symptoms. Cardiology clinic didn't like the swelling in his leg from the cellulitis..so she gave him a lasix IV..that seems to be working a little too well,,lol..he has to keep running to the bathroom. It was late when we finally got out of there..so stopped at Subway for dinner. We go from sprinkles to sun,,temp is only 60.

@tazdev3225..glad you got your shot and all went well. Relax and don't worry about it anymore. Hopefully you won't have any side effects. And yes..vacation planning should start tomorrow, lol!

Have a great evening everyone

lynxstch.... I take Singulair and it helps me so much. I hope it will help your husband too. My doctor says it really helps some people and others not at all.

A little chilly here but the sun is bright and that helps. Got a little more outside work done. It is supposed to get colder with a possibility of snow flurries. :faint:

I am fully vaccinated:banana: But, I am a bit down, I feel like it won't make a lot of difference in what I can and cannot do. I was really hopeful it was going to change things. I am still glad most of my family are or will be vaccinated very soon. I think my son will be able to visit later this summer, haven't seen him in 2 years. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about picking him up at the airport.

I am so thankful to read that your DH's appointments went well, Lynn and that hopefully he will start feeling better very soon.

Hugs, DazedX3, what a lovely reunion to look forward to! God Bless you both.

Quiet afternoon around here. All junk mail except for one magazine for Dad. I hope the mail is getting better for all of you that were still having delivery issues?

Hug to all for a good evening.

Good evening everyone.

Weather report a few days ago for today was mid 60s and sunny so we got tickets for Longwood Gardens again. Never got above 50 and was grey with occasional mist but we still had a good time. I'll get some pictures on Facebook and will try to get some here later. It was beautiful with tulips and other bright flowers. Spoke to an employee and it is a display garden so everything is planted for display. It was different today than when I was there 2 weeks ago. We also ate at the café there, which was nice.

On the way home, we went to Wild Birds Unlimited. Interesting store. Found lots of gift ideas for DIL who I find difficult to shop for. Also bought a post to put out our blue bird nesting box.

It was a good day. Finally feeling like retirement life.

The new dishwasher is working like a dream
YAY!

@tazdev3225, will keep your grandson in prayer. And to counteract your mother's story, when DD and her family all tested positive, they thought the baby was teething, the 4 yo had a snot nose, DD had a headache, and DSIL had no symptoms. And another YAY for being vaccinated.

I haven't been to Longwood Gardens in 4 years. I definitely have to try and get there again.

Thanks. My mom and I have a very warped relationship. She just can never be positive or comforting, it isn't in her nature. I keep hoping she'll change but she never has. I need to learn that she is not who I need to turn to when I need comfort Thankfully the other 2 boys are OK so far as is my daughter and her husband. The one with the virus seems fine except for the loss of smell and taste so hopefully this will be behind us soon.

I am so grateful I found you all here. I truly feel blessed to have found this thread.

Prayers for your family tazdev!

DH and I went out of town for the weekend to visit with his older sister in San Antonio. He has two, one older and one younger. She was diagnosed with multiple myeloma about a year and a half ago and has been in remission until recently. She said that she thinks that she's heading out of remission now. Her chemo medicine is changing and she will soon be getting it through infusions. She's also having heart issues. She's not steady on her feet and we took my mom's rollator down to her to use if she wants to. We had a good visit.

DH and I noticed quite a few people not wearing masks while we were out this weekend even when there were signs on the doors requesting them to.

There's a chance of rain overnight. Hope we get some, we really need it.

Greetings everyone!

Unusual travel day for me... I have - usually- good luck w/ travel arrangements but today it seemed Fate plotted against us! Still - could have been way worse.
Traveling w/ my SIL on my husbands side to visit w/ my folks for a few days of R & R. Flight delayed out of BWI by 2 hours, then a 40 minutes wait for our rental car...they didn’t have enough so we had to wait till one was returned... did not get class of car I booked- but did get a car, and at that point...we took it! Arrived at mom & dads safe & sound. Pizza & wine for dinner, and a fun few days ahead of us. SIL needed the break, and she knows my folks well so it’s a comfortable situation.
Florida is....delightfully hot & humid!

BWI had a fair bit of travelers but wait for security wasn’t that bad. Thought it odd that we DID NOT need boarding pass in security like usually do. Maybe our names from license jive with flight manifest??? That was a new one to me. Anyway- 100% full flight. People are starting to move-

Have a evening all-
