Praying for you and your DH, DazedX3.

I agree that it's sad to take down Christmas decorations! I am still enjoying some Hallmark Christmas movies but it's not quite the same.

I've talked/texted with a few friends today which has been nice. Always a Blessing to check in here!

Same here Mona..I got through quite a few this week..but I still have 6 left to go. But my goal is to finish them all by the end of next week, instead of them sitting there till Valentine's Day, and then I just end up deleting them as I don't want to be watching Christmas movies in February, lol

I just finished watching Love You, Like Christmas. I really ended up liking it a lot. I enjoyed all the characters along with their town of Christmas Valley. Rowdy, the dog was adorable! For anyone who has seen this movie, what kind of dog was he? I'm not sure whether there's any last movie to record tonight which is sort of sad! I did notice Hallmark channel tomorrow still has Christmas movies. HM&M does not. Winter movies though starting. Lynn, I do look forward to Valentine's movies as well. Just lol do remind me later this year to stockpile a few more Christmas movies :)

Happy New Year!

I stayed up till midnight to welcome the new year in and then couldn't go to sleep so I was up till 3:30 am. I slept for about five hours and got up to my DD cooking breakfast, waffles and bacon. What a treat!

Mack the dog went home today. DGKs and Mack did pretty good together. DGS was in the tub last night and Mack wanted in with him so he started barking and scared DGS. Then today DGS was popping an umbrella open and shut and Mack thought he was playing with him so another scare. Then DGD was in her bedroom playing and Mack thought he would see if she wanted to play. All he did was scare her also. He's a big bulldog, 65 pounds of muscle but gentle as a lamb.

I went to Kroger for groceries, I think I'm set for the next week. Lots of people here like to order groceries for pickup or delivery but I enjoy buying my own in person. Gets me out of the house plus I can really see what is on sale that way. I like to pick my own fruit/vegetables and meat so why not go ahead and get the rest while I am there.

Dinner tonight was honey baked ham, salad, potatoes and onions, and black eye peas for good luck. We need it!

While I was preparing dinner we had an emergency. Toot Toot the Elf fell off of the Christmas card display I have on the wall. DGK's were going crazy, DD jumped in the mix and was yelling help! help!. I ran into the family room and saw that clear thinking was needed. I ran back into the kitchen and grabbed my oven mitts and tongs, gave them to DD and she picked up Toot Toot very carefully without touching him so he would not lose his Christmas magic before Santa comes tomorrow night. He is sleeping peacefully under the Christmas tree at the moment. Who knows where this brave little elf will be tomorrow?

I pray that this coming year will be good for each of you. I enjoy reading what you have to say and I know that if I need you to listen, you will. God bless!

So glad you had a surprise breakfast treat, Kirby. We will indeed listen always :)

Are any of you recording the Winter movies starting tomorrow on Hallmark? I meant to ask that earlier. Remember every Thursday night at 8 HM&M will show a Christmas movie. Every Friday (not sure whether it's all day or one time) Hallmark will show Christmas movies too.

Sweet dreams to all.

Good morning everyone. Our ice storm thankfully turned into just rain, and not that much. But the State still had the salt/sand/calcium chloride trucks out in force all day. They must like to pay doubletime for a holiday, plus the cost of all the materials that were spread down, lol. At least I don't have to worry about slippery roads on the way to the grocery store this morning. It was a very quiet day here, no phone calls, watched a couple of movies, (down to 5 on Hallmark ones now), and fixed dinner, which was delicious.
Have a great Saturday everyone! Edited to add--one of my MIA pkgs, which has shown no tracking activity since Dec 12, now shows as having arrived in Capital Heights MD. Lets see how long it takes to get to me, since I could probably drive to Capital Heights in about 2 1/2 hours!

Good Morning, friends :)

Yikes, please stay safe and cozy, Lynn! I hope your package will finally get to you!

It was cozier last night, cool this morning. I got some men's 6-12 fuzzy socks on Amazon. They are soft and warm. Hoping they don't shrink in the dryer next week. They'd be a perfect bootie slipper (not finding) solution.

Saturday Blessings and a hug to all :)

Good morning all. Hey it is even cold here today. Just took a brisk walk with DH and the dog.

Help! Our lighted garland bit the dust yesterday. It was on, and then it wasn’t. There was an extra fuse taped to the garland and DH changed it but no dice. Probably time to get a new one anyway. I am not wanting to go search stores for mark downs right now due to Covid, did anyone order one online recently and care to share the link?

This weather is nuts..its Jan 2, and it's 52 degrees outside. Mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles every now and then, but then the sun breaks through. Walmart was crowded as usual..and noone was counting people going in or out :( Aldi's wasn't very busy, and had 2 cashiers pretty much just standing there waiting for customers.
No help for you @snappy The last time I bought outdoor lights (icicle ones) I found them on Ebay.
@flyingdumbo127 --Mona,,I hope your new socks don't shrink in the dryer!
I am off to relax in the tub and do a long beauty treatment,,that's my treat to myself every Saturday afternoon while hubby watches football (which is codespeak for taking a nap, lol)
No further info or news on granddaughter, will let you all know if and when we hear something
Have a nice afternoon

Nice here today too. 52 with clouds and sun.

There was a first day hike marked on trails at Fair Hill for January 1, 2, and 3. Today was the best weather day. It was listed as 5 miles. We skipped a loop of it but still did 4 miles. It was so muddy from yesterday's rain.

There are fireworks tonight in Middletown for New Years (postponed due to weather.) DD invited us down to watch (obstructed view from their house) and have a fire and s'mores outside.

Seems quite here today. Hope that is a good thing.

Dazedx3 I hope all goes well with your DH's surgery.

It has been a busy past few days. We made lasagna for New Year's Eve. DH cooked the sausage and I did the rest. I made a caesar salad to go along with it. We have not had our homemade lasagna in years. It was so good and we have lots for leftovers. I made it to 9 pm and that was it, time to sleep, We are hoping 2021 is better but I am not going to really get my hopes up yet. That way I can't be disappointed. I will take it day by day.

We took down our tree yesterday. To be honest I am glad the holidays are done. Usually I am a bit disappointed when the holidays are done but this year was so different I am glad they are done. Older DS and family stopped by on New Year' Day to drop off our gifts. We all stayed outside with masks on. Our 2 year old DGS asked for the baseball stuff. He likes to watch the ball shoot out of the top of the toy. When it hits the ground he then hits the ball. He is so cute. They stayed for a bit but it was in the 30's so we couldn't visit outside for long.

Today it was snowing then raining. DH had to remove a layer of slush. Now it is 40 and the sun is in and out. We took Jasper for his walk. More rain and snow in the forecast for the next few days.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope it is safe and healthy for all.

Hug, Snappy. I hope someone on here will have a recommendation for a new garland for you!

Thanks, so much Lynn. I'll let all of you know so I'll be able to (hopefully) recommend these socks to you :) Hooray you are relaxing. Continued prayers for Lily.

I'm glad you did get out for a walk, Carol. Have fun with tasty s'mores later!

Snowysmom, hug, day by day and in faith is the best way to take each day! Your DGS sounds adorable! Reminded me of years ago when I had my first ever class of 8 2 year olds. I had gotten a suction cup basketball hoop with orange nerf ball. I can still picture Peter figuring out the different places the hoop could attach onto. Kids are simply precious!

Our first delivery of the new year was 8 big boxes of Kleenex from Walmart. So grateful to be able to order it often that way. I definitely have come to greater appreciate smaller things! :)

I am not wanting to go search stores for mark downs right now due to Covid...

You're not missing anything. I've had to go to different places for other things this week, and checked the after-Christmas sales, since I was there. There was hardly anything (which was probably good, since I didn't really need anything, but definitely different than in the past.)

I think maybe it has to do with how early things get put out nowadays - They're already switching to Valentine's stuff, so I expect the sales actually started before Christmas, and I just wasn't running around then to catch them.

Good evening all. We just came in from (another) bonfire outside. We have a ton of wood to burn and so we just light up some every once in a while...we sat out there, had the last of the mulled wine, and watched the dogs play late this afternoon. They ran and wrestled and played for almost 2 hours, which is good as tomorrow is looking to be be rain all day and cold. Glad they got to get soem fresh air and plenty of time outside since it was nice today. Holidays for us have wound down. Boys put all of my Christmas stuff in the attic today, and I'm very pleased with myself for having thinned out a good part of it! House is put back to rights as well. Youngest went back to his place between DC & Baltimore, and I sent him home with BAGS of groceries and a large bit of leftovers. All of the leftover unopened candy went with him for his unit/headquarters/barracks or whatever they call it. I think everyone is ready to go back to work after this long break. We got our Dec. electric bill, it was YIKES! and I expect January to be similar, but then hopefully we are back to a more normal bill.
No plans of any significance tomorrow...no where to go, no where to be. Going to be crappy weather so I guess we have one more day of inside doing nothing and it's driving me bonkers! Thank goodness we were able to get outside today and be out for a few hours in the decent weather.
I fouled up my goal of all the of the LOTR movies on New Years Day. I have one more left, going to watch tomorrow. :P
This evening is --- leftovers! The last of the leftovers, and good riddance to them. We have tamales, queso, lots of salsa, a bit of venison roast, loads of veggies, penne arrabiata, and chesesteak dip. After tonight, it's a done deal. Dinner tomorrow evening is rockfish w/ a salad. Back to the basics for us, we need to detox from 2 weeks of indulgent eating.

May the New Year bring us good health, wealth, and the ability to think on our feet.

here here!

Mack the dog went home today

Handsome boy! We foster bulldogs (and pugs/frenchies & boston's) and feel like our next 'mill mama ' (our new specialty!) is around the corner! Takes us a bit of time in between, it's hard on the heart sending them on to their new homes BUT we can't keep them all, so this is one way to help.
I'm about ready for my first grand-dog....once the eldest buys his first home, hopefully this spring!!

It was cozier last night, cool this morning. I got some men's 6-12 fuzzy socks on Amazon. They are soft and warm. Hoping they don't shrink in the dryer next week.

I was putting away some Christmas stuff and kept out all my soft & fluffy type socks like this! They do make great slippers...and so what they have snowflakes on them, it's still winter, right!?!?! I hope your socks don't shrink!

I would love to have some decent lit garland, but I haven't found any yet. Or any I was willing to pull the trigger on $$$ wise I should say. I'm still draping separate light strands with the existing garland I have. I did get a email from Michaels about a big sale they were having, but I didn't open it. Maybe there? Wish I could be more helpful, good luck in your search.

I've been keeping her in my thoughts...hope all is going well for her.

DD invited us down to watch (obstructed view from their house) and have a fire and s'mores outside.

enjoy the fireworks, hope they are good. Have a s'more for me!

Dazedx3 I hope all goes well with your DH's surgery.

I just wanted to piggyback on Snowysmom comment...Dazedx3 I do hope all goes well for your husband and his surgery is deemed a success. My good thoughts go with you & your husband during this difficult time.

We have not had our homemade lasagna in years.

Me either, I make a okay lasagna, but in truth it's still not as good as my Mothers. I bought - for the first time in YEARS - all the ingredients to make stuffed shells later this week. Looking forward to it.

You're not missing anything. I've had to go to different places for other things this week, and checked the after-Christmas sales, since I was there. There was hardly anything (which was probably good,

I've noticed the same, at first I chalked it up to the stores not getting as much inventory as they just didn't know what was going to happen with folks spending habits in terms of Covid and closures, but now I'm not so sure. But yeah, it did seem to me that there was a bit less of things-

Welp, it's time to start heating up the very last of the leftovers. Thank goodness!

Good evening to you all.

(I can't deny that there is a piece of cheese cake in the freezer that is CALLING my name...)

Thanks, Easyas123. Snowflakes, make the socks more fun! :) Mine are just solid color so nothing as cheerful as yours. I would love to find some cute extended size fuzzy socks but not sure such a thing is made. Maybe we should open a slipper/sock store :D I am so glad you had a nice visit with your sons. God Bless your youngest indeed for his service. You stay warm tonight and tomorrow.

Have a good evening, everyone :)

Today has felt more like Christmas than Christmas did. We cleaned house getting ready for tomorrow. Baked chocolate chip cookies with the grandkids for Santa. Carol took Lil Joe out to get Lou Lou a present. We had gone to Half Price Books the week before Christmas and Lou Lou just had to have a dinosaur book she found for her brother. She was missing him so much! And I think that he found the perfect gift for her, a Peppa Pig activity box.

Lil Joe and Lou Lou found Toot Toot sitting in the Christmas tree this morning with a bandaid around his head and one around his arm. I know that he will be so glad to leave with Santa tonight. Lil Joe wants Toot Toot and all his friends to come visit next year.

I will be glad though to put away the Christmas decorations. I like starting the New Year with a clean slate and having them up this long makes me feel like the new year has yet to begin.

Carol took the kids over to her boyfriend's house to pop the fireworks that they couldn't pop on New Year's Eve due to rain. Joe and I took advantage of them being gone to go out to dinner. We shared a fried catfish/shrimp basket. We've started trying to share our dinner when we eat out to save money. Sometimes it's not so easy especially when we want to eat different things but it's a work in progress.

I just finished the Bridgerton series on Netflix. Carol says it's a cross between Downton Abby and Gossip Girl. I don't no about Downton Abby but I enjoyed it, much more than Sandition on PBS.

One of my new calendars, I keep up with four, says that every day is a holiday and that today is National Science Fiction Day. Do you like science fiction? Movies, books?
