Good evening all. We just came in from (another) bonfire outside. We have a ton of wood to burn and so we just light up some every once in a while...we sat out there, had the last of the mulled wine, and watched the dogs play late this afternoon. They ran and wrestled and played for almost 2 hours, which is good as tomorrow is looking to be be rain all day and cold. Glad they got to get soem fresh air and plenty of time outside since it was nice today. Holidays for us have wound down. Boys put all of my Christmas stuff in the attic today, and I'm very pleased with myself for having thinned out a good part of it! House is put back to rights as well. Youngest went back to his place between DC & Baltimore, and I sent him home with BAGS of groceries and a large bit of leftovers. All of the leftover unopened candy went with him for his unit/headquarters/barracks or whatever they call it. I think everyone is ready to go back to work after this long break. We got our Dec. electric bill, it was YIKES! and I expect January to be similar, but then hopefully we are back to a more normal bill.
No plans of any significance tomorrow...no where to go, no where to be. Going to be crappy weather so I guess we have one more day of inside doing nothing and it's driving me bonkers! Thank goodness we were able to get outside today and be out for a few hours in the decent weather.
I fouled up my goal of all the of the LOTR movies on New Years Day. I have one more left, going to watch tomorrow.
This evening is --- leftovers! The last of the leftovers, and good riddance to them. We have tamales, queso, lots of salsa, a bit of venison roast, loads of veggies, penne arrabiata, and chesesteak dip. After tonight, it's a done deal. Dinner tomorrow evening is rockfish w/ a salad. Back to the basics for us, we need to detox from 2 weeks of indulgent eating.
May the New Year bring us good health, wealth, and the ability to think on our feet.
here here!
Mack the dog went home today
Handsome boy! We foster bulldogs (and pugs/frenchies & boston's) and feel like our next 'mill mama ' (our new specialty!) is around the corner! Takes us a bit of time in between, it's hard on the heart sending them on to their new homes BUT we can't keep them all, so this is one way to help.
I'm about ready for my first grand-dog....once the eldest buys his first home, hopefully this spring!!
It was cozier last night, cool this morning. I got some men's 6-12 fuzzy socks on
Amazon. They are soft and warm. Hoping they don't shrink in the dryer next week.
I was putting away some Christmas stuff and kept out all my soft & fluffy type socks like this! They do make great slippers...and so what they have snowflakes on them, it's still winter, right!?!?! I hope your socks don't shrink!
Our lighted garland bit the dust yesterday. It was on, and then it wasn’t. There was an extra fuse taped to the garland and DH changed it but no dice. Probably time to get a new one anyway. I am not wanting to go search stores for mark downs right now due to Covid, did anyone order one online recently and care to share the link?
I would love to have some decent lit garland, but I haven't found any yet. Or any I was willing to pull the trigger on $$$ wise I should say. I'm still draping separate light strands with the existing garland I have. I did get a email from Michaels about a big sale they were having, but I didn't open it. Maybe there? Wish I could be more helpful, good luck in your search.
I am off to relax in the tub and do a long beauty treatment,,that's my treat to myself every Saturday afternoon while hubby watches football (which is codespeak for taking a nap, lol)
No further info or news on granddaughter, will let you all know if and when we hear something
I've been keeping her in my thoughts...hope all is going well for her.
DD invited us down to watch (obstructed view from their house) and have a fire and s'mores outside.
enjoy the fireworks, hope they are good. Have a s'more for me!
Dazedx3 I hope all goes well with your DH's surgery.
I just wanted to piggyback on Snowysmom comment...Dazedx3 I do hope all goes well for your husband and his surgery is deemed a success. My good thoughts go with you & your husband during this difficult time.
We have not had our homemade lasagna in years.
Me either, I make a okay lasagna, but in truth it's still not as good as my Mothers. I bought - for the first time in YEARS - all the ingredients to make stuffed shells later this week. Looking forward to it.
You're not missing anything. I've had to go to different places for other things this week, and checked the after-Christmas sales, since I was there. There was hardly anything (which was probably good,
I've noticed the same, at first I chalked it up to the stores not getting as much inventory as they just didn't know what was going to happen with folks spending habits in terms of Covid and closures, but now I'm not so sure. But yeah, it did seem to me that there was a bit less of things-
Welp, it's time to start heating up the very last of the leftovers. Thank goodness!
Good evening to you all.
(
I can't deny that there is a piece of cheese cake in the freezer that is CALLING my name...)
