Happy Weekend/Halloween/November all!
Friday we had a bad day. Josh has gotten extremely whiney about online school and I have to keep at him to come get online, sit down, pay attention, etc. My mother started screaming at me later in the evening about how "all you do is yell at him all day" and I spent the evening up in my bedroom. Nobody helps me one bit with this. And I have NEVER yelled at Josh. I may have raised my voice a bit to get him to pay attention, so that he knows that I mean business, but I have never YELLED at him.
We did get about an inch of snow on Friday, and it was enough to make the soccer club postpone the final season's game yesterday morning. We will be playing this coming Saturday, when it's supposed to be 60 degrees out. Josh did play out side with his Daddy for a bit...I think they had a snowball fight. Then they put on their costumes and we went to visit my in-laws so they could see Josh in his costume. I typically don't go for expensive store-bought costumes but I wasn't sure what would happen this year, so we bought Josh a Frankenstein's Monster costume at Target. Even though he was already the monster when we first took him trick-or-treating in 2017 (I had found a used costume at Once Upon a Child for $6 that year!). He didn't mind; he is OBSESSED with Frankenstein's Monster. DH finally put his authentic Magnum PI Hawaiian shirt to good use (even if it's too small) and wore that along with a blue baseball cap (he drew a paper D to put over the logo, as he doesn't own an actual Detroit Tigers hat). He'd been planning to shave his beard and leave his mustache, but I reminded him that he had to wear a mask anyway, so why bother. Then I thought, why not just wear a paper mask and I'll draw a mustache on it? So that's what I did! It was kinda cute...
After we left my in-laws', on our way back home we decided to stop at our fire station, where they were having a "drive-thru trick-or-treat." There was hardly anyone there at the moment, but Josh enjoyed driving through the big garage (they'd moved all the trucks into the parking lot) and he got a big bag with candy, a coloring book and crayons, a pencil and eraser, and a bracelet. As we got back to our street, we saw plenty of people out already and surprisingly, lots of house lights on. So we put the car away and immediately went back out. We only went up our street, not around the block like most people did, but a good 3/4 of our street had something. Either people did answer the door (with masks, telling the kids to take 3-4 pieces), or they had a bowl outside. At our house, we did the bowl thing; we'd bagged up 3-4 pieces of candy and put the bags in a bowl outside. We didn't get as many kids as I would have liked, we have too much candy left, IMO, but it was still good.
I didn't get an extra hour of sleep this morning. Woke up with a raging headache around 4:30 (I ALWAYS wake up with a headache between 3-4:30), and then our cat started bothering us at 5:22 a.m. to get out of bed so he can have his "spot" and sleep all day. (We're usually both up by 6:15, and clearly Dio is unaware of the time change). We hung out at home today...I had to force Josh to do his music assignment, then he went outside with Daddy and Grandma to clean up the few leaves that we had in our yard. Then the boys watched the Patriots game and now we're just chilling before dinner.
Sleepwear QOTD for Friday, 10/30: What are your go to Pajamas and what about slippers?
I only do knee-length sleepshirts. I prefer the jersey ones from Kohls (either Sonoma or Croft and Barrow), or the 2-pack sets from Costco. I can't stand the way pajamas or anything longer gets twisted around as I sleep, and pajama legs get hiked up to my knees. Plus, I'm 2 different sizes on top and bottom, so if I buy a set of pajamas, one piece will be either too big or too small. And my inseam is only 26", so even if I bought petites, the pants would still be too long.
I don't really wear slippers. I prefer "fuzzy socks." Right now, I'm wearing some cheap ones from Ocean State Job Lot that I bought several years ago (Christmas ones with snowflakes on them). Strange how these off-brand cheap ones have lasted, but the "nice" ones from Kohls, I wore holes through them within a month!
