Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I have been watching good old TV series that I didn't really watch when they were on: Reba, Last Man Standing (not the new one but the one that was on ABC), reruns of Big Bang Theory which I did watch when it was on, and British comedies on Britbox. This weekend I have started to watch Hallmark movies, UP TV movies, and the light Lifetime movies. I find I can watch one at a time and then my attention span is done. I am trying to pick up reading again. I used to read all the time but I seem to have lost my interest over the past year. Time to pick it up again.

I am very concerned about the fallout from the election. The way this country is so polarized is a big problem. We plan to vote around mid morning after the first group gets through on their way to work. We will take our usual walk in the late afternoon but then it will be time to stay home.

It is bit depressing to see it get dark so soon. We had to adjust our walking time to 3:45 from 4:00 just so we get home before dark. Jasper is on no walk orders until he sees the vet next week. I suspect he will have to take it easy for a while. His gastro issues are still with us and I have been cleaning up a bit here and there. I hope the probiotics take effect soon. It is one of the problems with the antibiotic. I hope he gets off it next week. He seems to be more interested in what is going on and coughing a bit less. If he stays still he usually doesn't cough but when he decides to get nosy and see what is going on he coughs for a bit.

Hug, Apirateslifeforme, I hope CT does not go back either :( As you all know my county is still in the strictest tier. I do also wonder if before the end of the year more things will be closed again except essentials. Such a hard and sad time. Hug to you and Josh. I actually don't think a 5 year old ought to be graded right now (especially) at all! I hope your parent/teacher conference on Wednesday goes well! :)

Snowysmom, I am glad Jasper is more interested in what's going on. :( about the coughing.

So for today,,lets make the QOTD--What are you watching on tv during covid times?

Probably not the best time but we just recently cut cable. LOL But I've been watching a lot of Netflix before we did that. LOL I've watched Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, Dead to Me, Schitt's Creek, Hart of Dixie, Umbrella Academy. I'm still watching Great British Baking Show, The West Wing. Started The Masked Singer on Hulu and I can find all the Dateline on there too. I just subscribed to a streaming service that does Hallmark Christmas movies so I'm watching those when I can.

@Snowysmom Glad to hear Jasper is doing a bit better. Hope the probiotic starts working, that's a pain. The early dark is throwing my dogs off like never before....they never really seemed to noticed until this year. I feed them 2x a day, 7:30a and 7:30p...they started bugging me before 6p last night. LOL Then they wanted to go to bed right after eating....I told DD I guess they didnt get the time change memo....lol

@apirateslifeforme :( to CT rolling back to stage 2. I fear that is going to happen in a lot of places. I hear that our county is almost in the 'red zone' which means too many new cases. Someone told me that even though Frostburg State was shut down and only virtual learning for a week, that a LOT of college kids were running through town on Friday nite acting like idiots --so I see a lot more new cases coming.
That doesn't sound fair that they gave all students 1's..it's not the students fault, it's not the parents fault, it's not the teachers fault. Everyone is trying their best!

Hard to find a 30 minute family friendly sitcom nowadays . We do watch the Goldberg’s and sometimes Blackish. But now with Disney + my teens are getting a kick out of “Boy meets world “. I watched this is us on Hulu on the iPad last night, was so disappointed.too much real world stuff and sad news . So tonight, I getting ready to start reading a new book. So glad to have tomorrow off and get caught up with phone calls and errands.

We enjoyed one of the new episodes of Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix tonight. Just the thing for a bit of fun and armchair travel.
I love that other posters here enjoy Hallmark movies. They are enjoyable, even if the plots aren't totally realistic. 🎄
I picked up our curbside grocery order today. I had added a frozen turkey breast to the list, but apparently they were out. So they very kindly substituted (at no extra charge) a fresh young turkey. I'll roast it Thursday. Should make our place smell like Thanksgiving came a bit early.🦃

Yay that you have a break tomorrow, Sparkle. I remember Boy Meets World! I watched some episodes as an adult. I (think) I overall liked Saved by the Bell better but BMW definitely was fun :)

Hug, Gwynne, I agree on Hallmark movies! I'm sorry to hear NE's numbers are rising, they are here in CA, too. I think part of that might be due to sports celebrations of late.

Prayers each of you are enjoying a cozy and safe evening!

Just finished a Zoom Worship Team meeting. I got asked to do a minute about the camp DD went to and worked at that I support. Need to write that out to know what to say. (@flyingdumbo127 you'll be able to see me speak. Scary!)

Turned on DWTS which I am not following too closely. I don't care for Tyra Banks and she looks like Big Bird tonight.

Like many of you, I am concerned about unrest after the election. I am not too concerned for myself as it is rural where we are and I have food here. I worry about DS. Last I heard he is still in NC. I texted his wife and she knew he was at his hotel but didn't think he knew anymore than that himself. They go where they are sent.

Re TV: we watched Schitt's Creek, and a lot of comedy reruns like Golden Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond. Mindless comedies. To those that have Prime, have you watched the new Borat Movie? DH wants to watch it but we don't have Prime. I don't care for Borat.

I started to read The Warmth of Other Suns. And I ordered Love is the Way by Bishop Michael Curry for an Advent Study at church. I have a lot of reading to do.

Prayers for a calm election and aftermath.

Is Candyland about Christmas candy, Lynxstch? A friend of mine makes a wonderful fudge! :)

yes, its all about candy. Kristen Chenowith is the hostess..and the entire set is edible.

QOTD--What are you watching on tv during covid times? I also enjoy reading! As I have shared on our thread before, I need some extra books right now to read! I'll never take for granted the library again post plague! During this time, I have discovered fun in game shows such as Price is Right along with older (repeated) shows that are available to DVR such as Chain Reaction and Sale of the Century. I need to break out my Touched by an Angel DVD's! I do enjoy some of the Lifetime and Hallmark movies. In general, I admit to not having (in general) too much sitting at one time watching TV patience which is handy thing about a DVD or DVR (come back to watching later :)) I do sometimes watch Love it or List it and a couple other shows on HGTV as a way to travel from home :)

where do you guys tend to order from with regard to groceries/big bulk items?

I used to order from Jet, and have occasionally ordered from Costco, although in truth we don't do to much "bulk" ordering these days. I do go to Costco every few months & get laundry soap and stuff like that, as well as hit up their liquor store.

in other news...I SCORED A TURKEY THAT WASN'T HUGE last night! 12.5 lbs. They had 2 of them, now I'm second guessing not buying both:confused:,but I didn't need both.
Came into the office early today - gonna go vote at lunchtime I think.

We don't buy in bulk since there are just the 2 of us. I just get 2 pkgs of something if I am running low. I don't do curbside pick up or delivery. I don't trust someone else picking out my dairy, produce, meat, etc.
@easyas123 yeah for the score on a smaller turkey, you probably should have gotten both if you had room in the freezer. I am wondering if stores are going to put a limit of ONE on them since the stores around here don't have a lot of them. Even Aldi's didn't have many in their case last week, and the ones they did have were huge. They did have quite a few turkey breasts though, but I am a dark meat lover, and don't care for the white meat..hubby is the opposite , of course.
We voted by mail, so we don't even have to go out today. Most of the usual polling places are closed due to covid anyhow. I think there are only 3 open that I heard about.

Good morning.

question of the day i guess...i'm a rookie:
where do you guys tend to order from with regard to groceries/big bulk items?
I'm old school, other than Amazon, I don't do much online shopping except gifts and clothing. All of my grocery type shopping is in person. Of course, I am only shopping for the two of us.

Regarding Thanksgiving, currently we are going to DS's house unless hiss schedule gets changed. Currently he is off that day but there is talk of switching to 12 hour shifts.

I am glad I have already voted as I here lines are long. DSIL waited an hour to vote in DE.

Today is keep busy around the house day.

yeah for the score on a smaller turkey, you probably should have gotten both if you had room in the freezer.

I'm wishing I had...but we also only have one extra freezer and both my husband and the eldest got bears last week, so once they come back from butcher (up at Buckels in Grantsville) we will be out of space, or close to it. Believe me, I'd rather have the turkey then the bear-

I am glad I have already voted as I here lines are long. DSIL waited an hour to vote in DE.
Husband is in town now voting, says it's not to bad although it was swamped at 7 AM this morning. I'm headed out to vote in next 90 minutes, I am hoping I don't have a hour wait, but if I do I'll stick it out.
then headed home for rest of the day- I've got some housework with my name on it as well, plus someone coming to house around 4 to do an appraisal.
I'm guessing our voting areas - even though we are rural-will be steady all day. I'm so pleased that so many people are voting, some years I can't believe how dismal the turn out is.

I also don't do much online shopping. However this plague has changed that somewhat! I am enormously grateful to Walmart and Amazon. Both have provided excellent overall customer service and delivery especially right now! Otherwise, I only a few times a year order on Christian Book and Oriental Trading. I definitely prefer (in normal times) in store shopping1

I am so glad CA offered early vote by mail. I was also able to track my ballot and see it has indeed been counted. Many prayers for each of you voting in person today that it goes safely and smoothly. Thank you for voting!
