@lynxstch, so many prayers to you! I really hope everything turns out well with your grandson. I can only imagine how much pain he must be in.
(Not a fan of hospital ERs...after the one closest to us did absolutely nothing for my DH when he was sent from a doctor's office with a blood pressure of 180-something over 120-something. It is NOT a busy hospital; there might be 2-3 people in the ER at any given time, tops. When he walked out 10 hours later, they gave him a sarcastic, "Bye, hope you feel better!")
I can relate..husband literally 'died' at work 4 years ago, they got him breathing again, and determined that his pacemaker had stopped working. Got him to the ER, where the Dr put in a new pacemaker, but neglected to check the leads, one was cracked which is what caused the first one to stop working. So the new one did the same thing, and he stopped breathing again. They then determined it was a cracked lead, but our hospital (which is supposed to be a good cardiac one?), couldn't replace it. We ended up in Baltimore, where we met a wonderful Dr. They got the old lead out, put new one in. But he got an infection, and they had to take the whole thing out. Waited for the hole in his chest to clear up, then they had to put a new pacemaker/icd in , but on the right side of his chest instead of the left, where it normally goes. From the day it started to the day it ended was almost 6 months to the day! So he now goes to our hospital for the device checks only, and the moron Dr who never checked the leads, always has to stick his head in and ask how hubby is doing. The one thing that Dr. DID learn from all that,,is that they now check leads EVERY time, whether it be just a device check, or putting in a whole new pacemaker, or defibrillator, or fixing something on an existing one. Maybe my causing a big stink at the time, has lead to someone else not dying at that Drs hands!
I'm also hoping that the lurker in the woods is caught soon. That is definitely one thing that I am paranoid about. Do you have deadbolts on your doors? Our handyman put up a really good one on our back sliding door that I love - there is absolutely no way to open that door from the outside now.
Yes to the deadbolts,,and we now have 6 security lights outside (just ordered 2 more last nite to put out front). Thank you for your concern,,it bothers me a lot too, not sleeping well till they catch that guy!
Just killing time right now until Josh's Saturday soccer game. My in-laws are coming as well, plus DH's brother and his family. This should be interesting...we got a "sternly-worded" email from the soccer association a few days ago regarding the number of spectators. There should only be 2 per player, despite the fact that we're outdoors AND wearing masks. We're just going to all pretend that we don't know each other and stay apart, I suppose. Afterward, DH needs to take his parents to Best Buy for new cell phones - they want to try the Jitterbugs. Mom wants a smart phone, but Dad still wants a flip phone. He hates cell phones in the first place and doesn't really want one, but it's become a necessary evil. My mom and I will be heading over to Kohl's to get the rest of a birthday gift for one of Josh's friends.
Surprisingly, there will be photos done at Josh's school next month. I'm just going to order a small package, as I'd rather take some of my own. People have been complaining for years that you have to order a package before they even take the photos. I was thinking of taking him to the Reservoir around October 17th/18th for our personal photos, but since the colors are already changing, I might have to move it up a week. I was thinking that date because DH and I went up there on our 2nd anniversary, which is October 15th, and the colors were perfect and brilliant that day. Last year we went to a corn maze on the 14th and the colors were just starting to change. But it does seem that it will need to be earlier this year. We saw lots of vibrant reds and oranges already in MA the other day!
No movie night at his friend's house tonight - they already had previous plans. I love them, but I am grateful for the night off. We might not be able to go next week either, if they have it, as we have to get up early on Sunday and make a 90-minute drive to the Southwick Zoo for his other friend's birthday celebration. Although with his attitude lately, I don't know that we should be doing ANYTHING fun...
Hope you have a great weekend between soccer games, and inlaws!
