Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I skipped yesterday, just wasn't feeling like posting. Kinda of a blah day. I made French toast from this hazelnut spread brioche bread that Fresh Market carries sometimes (it has hazelnuts on top too, so some crunch), to break in the new griddle, with some maple sausage. Came out very nicely. We had the leftover Chinese for a late lunch/early dinner, and then I baked some of those premade cookies from the dairy aisle (Reese's pb with Reese's pieces in them) in the countertop oven. (that thing is a blessing. It doesn't heat up the whole house like the oven and only takes 5 minutes to heat. I use it to make frozen pizzas, roast veggies, toast bread/bagels, bake chicken/pork/reverse seared steaks, etc. Still use the regular oven for baking breads/cakes, and other big meals, but the little one is very convenient.)

So, my funny memory is the time that DD#2 shaved DH's head.

It was DH's . He was thinning and decided to just take the plunge and go all in bald, instead of having those whispy strands not really covering anything. LOL DD said she would help, so they went into the bathroom and he sat where the washer and dryer were supposed to be (we didn't have a set at the time)....and gave her the clippers.

She went straight down the middle...like a reverse mohawk. Stopped and said "oops". (kinda had that look on her face, haha) I don't think she realized all the hair would go off. Then she asked "Are we doing all of it?" :lmao: He told her "yes, I'm not going around like this" and she got all indignant (like only a 6 year old girl can) and huffed back "Well I didn't know", then started shaving again.

So, DH hasn't had hair on the top of his head since 1999, and I have a humerous story to tell about the time DD#2 shaved her dad's head.

The bolded part just reminded me of when I did that to my husband. I always do his hair, and am usually very careful about making sure I have the right size trimmer comb on it. But a few years ago, I mustn't have been paying attention, and didn't notice I had NO attachment on, and went right up the middle of his head like your DD did. I said oops too, lol. He didn't want me shaving it all off though , but he did wear a hat everywhere he went for a few weeks till it grew back in. I am super careful now checking before cutting, lol!

Happy Saturday all,

It's not a bad day here in Indiana today. Decent temperature but not that clear and seems another cold front on the way. That's exciting. It's pretty quiet in the MT household today, which can be weird. Last night for "date" night found Matt and I in his bathroom (we have separate bathrooms, it keeps our marriage ) him sitting on a chair and me with clippers going ummmmm......are you sure I can't just put a bobby pin in it? That of course met with manly glares and saying just do it. I'm saying there no way in hell I'm shaving your head. I have to look at you and no one else at this point and I want to like it (see how all things wind back to me!) So I put the guards on and started slow in the back and then changed the guards to something else and hit the sides. He grabbed the top and started to cut down the top and I'm just cringing but it's not mine. All in all it's not bad! I've certainly seen worse and I'd take him out for date night if that was possible so win win for us. I did cut his hair years ago when we first married and super dirt poor. Then after I cut his hair, we had to scrounge up the money to go have it fixed so we started to budget for it:crazy: On the flip side I ordered hair dye from Madison Reed last night and told him he could be color stylist. That should be fun... And we thought excitement was dead in the marriage by 20 years

Tonight's dinner is if you can dream it and make it without me AND clean the kitchen it's yours or make a sandwich.

Gratitude:
1. Sense of humor. It goes a very long ways in being married and goes long ways to healing a sore heart in life.
2. Loving family. I've had lot of texts with my inlaws and my own family the past few days and it's nice to remember we love them
even when on my last nerve.
3. Blessed to still have good health and be able to ride this out in some ways that others cannot.

Peace and good health to all.

Question of the day: 4/11: What's a favorite flavor of ice cream or frozen treat?

Do you eat ice cream or like a good popsicle or sundae? What's your guilty pleasure? I love the orange dreamsicle dip cones or dilly bars at Dairy Queen. I want to love things like Cold Stone Creamery but it's just too much for me. We don't eat big bowls of ice cream and I can't handle all that sugar together. I do like hot caramel toppings and some heath bit on my vanilla. I guess my favorite ice cream I pick up in the store is probably butter pecan or plain vanilla. Matt ruins his ice cream with peanut butter..bleh.

Frozen is not my favorite thing. I prefer things hot.....like baked cookies and brownies out of the oven.
But if I had to choose......ice cream, as chocolate as it can get with added chocolate. I don't eat it a lot though. Not worth the carbs to me.

I used to cut DH's hair years and years ago.....still have the shears, so we'll see.
I do color my own hair so that is fine.

Getting food prepped for tomorrow. Still have the deviled eggs and chocolate covered strawberries to go.

Dinner....grilled steak, asparagus and sauteed mushrooms

You and Matt are both very brave. We are both going to look ridiculous once we are finally released from quarantine, but I think it is best for our marriage if we both stay away from the other's hair, I for one should not to be trusted with clippers.

My favorite ice cream is either cookies and cream or a local place down the road from us does a nice vanilla type base with black raspberries swirled in. I also wouldn't turn down chocolate ice cream with marshmallow topping, or a nice peanut butter and hot fudge sundae with vanilla ice cream. Clearly I like ice cream.

I love Dairy Queen's choco cherry blizzards, but it has to be made with chocolate ice cream
My favorite all time flavor used to be Ben and Jerry's Dastardly Mash, but they stopped making it
I could eat a whole carton of Turkey Hill chocolate marshmallow any day of the week!

Now there's one husband hasn't tried,,putting peanut butter on his ice cream, bet after I tell him that Matt does it, he will put it on his ice cream tonite, lol!

Matt and I are clearly just stupid and stuck in this house together lol however you should google the videos of families cutting their hair or each other. It's hilarious! This started because we were watching Carson Daly on the today show cutting his hair and his son helping and my husband's like we can do that...and I'm like ummm...no...obviously I lost but at least we did that before any drinking. Might be different outcome not so funny in the morning lol

He sometimes mixes it in still in butter form and sometimes he melts in the microwave and pours it over the top. AND then adds more peanuts. Can you tell I'm not a peanut fan? I don't mind peanut butter every so often with an apple or in my oatmeal but to eat it out the jar not happening. That's why God made Nutella.::yes::

....so after I arrived at my duty station in New York, my roommate had a car and we traveled over to a massive grocery store in Newburgh, the first that either of us had seen in months. They had a whole frozen aisle dedicated to ice cream. And one of the offerings was small pint of Howard Johnson's which had been the butt of many jokes and comedians in the 70s. So I figured, why not.....wish I had not.....Howard Johnsnons Heavenly Hash is the best ice cream I have ever consumed. Ben and Jerry's Everything but...... is a close second....They do not have Howard Johnson on the west coast....nor any; of the east coast imagination of what ice cream should be....even Tilamook struggles for that outstanding ice cream concoction.

I'm not a peanut fan either. I don't mind a peanut butter, jelly and marshmallow sandwich once in awhile...or a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich, but I will only eat Peter Pan creamy. I love nutella too!

I like Turkey Hill Stuff'd Moose Tracks. It is fairly low in WW points. If I don't care about points, I like Turkey Hill Double Dunker. And the Creamery at University of Delaware has some awesome, unique home made flavors like All Nighter (Coffee ice cream with cookie dough, chocolate sandwich cookies and a fudge swirl ) and Salted Caramel Mocha Latte (Chocolate coffee ice cream with a salted caramel swirl ). Hmmm, apparently I go for the mocha chocolate flavors.

Tina, I need my hair trimmed :D Seriously good for you and Matt both for taking it in stride :) I also feel so Blessed to be able to stay home, ride this out.

Three positives from today:

Warmer weather
My 93 year old friend Shirley is feeling better. A few days ago her blood sugar had dropped to a paramedic visit low :(
Campbell's Chicken Broth. It's comforting, cozy-ing, and also has helped me to lose weight--win all-around.

My favorite ice cream treat is a local Frozen Yogurt place near church. To me, their yogurt tastes more like soft serve than "yogurt." Sweet and no after taste. I enjoy plain vanilla with hot fudge. I also as shared before enjoy a chocolate shake from Wienerschnitzel.

I'm not a big ice cream fan. Its started hurting my stomach recently. Not sure if it's the milk or sugar. I can do non dairy fro-yo or a tiny bit of gelato but not regular ice cream....its weird. Mmm....I had the most amazing chocolate gelato in Italy....soo good.

And sounds like your husband and my husband have the same feelings about peanut butter. I'm not a fan.

I am totally NOT afraid of cutting DH's or DS's hair! Years ago, I would go with DH when he went to Cost Cutters and I watched how they did his hair, and then asked my own hairdresser about it. I then purchased a nice clipper set at Kohls - got it for $7 with all the discounts! - and went to town. I've been doing DH's hair for about 7 years now.

DS is a little more difficult. He's only 4.5 and he says it hurts to get a haircut. He's a SCREAMER. A few years ago, I tried to use scissors to cut his hair and he ended up with what I call "shelves" in his hair, so I refused to do it again, even though my hairdresser tells me to keep trying, that I'd figure it out. She really seems to want me to do his hair myself... :confused3 I did give him a clipper cut before we went to Florida this year, using the longest guide on the top, but it still cut his hair way too short. Our next appointment since returning was supposed to be this past Tuesday, so now his hair is overgrown. I managed to convince him to let me give him that mohawk yesterday, though...

Not too worried about my hair, length or color. I'm looking forward to my silver hair, so I'm curious to see just how much I have now. When I got pregnant with my son, I wasn't allowed to color for 5 months and I did get some silver. It's 5 years later and I can see a lot more peeking out at my right temple. I actually want my hair to go silver/white; my hairdresser and I have big plans for some fun colored streaks (I'm starting with teal and purple)!

So today, we did quite a bit for Easter. We dyed and decorated our eggs while my mom prepped Easter dinner, which we are going to split and take up to in my in-laws (we will drop it off at the door and talk to them from the sidewalk). We took a ride to see the Easter Bunny hanging out on the sidewalk of one of our local businesses. We also were made aware of a Bunny caravan that will take place tomorrow morning; they will be coming by our house, so we made a sign and we'll go out and wave. It's almost time for a certain little boy to go to bed, so we have to fix the Bunny's snack and get him down soon. He needs to clean up the living room, too...

Anyway, ice cream. Turkey Hill is my favorite. I've only ever had one bad flavor from them. I like Double Dunker and Southern Lemon Pie the best. There was a chocolate salted caramel that I particularly enjoyed recently as well. We have a well-known creamery right up the street from our house and I've never had anything bad there. Surprisingly, their carrot cake flavor is drool-worthy! And in the fall, they had an apple crisp flavor that I hope they make again this year. I keep saying I'm going to stop with the ice cream, as I'm tired of doctors berating me about my weight (I'm not plus-sized, I've even lost 3 sizes in the past 2 years, but the number on the scale is high and won't budge), but I can't stay away. Oh well, life's too short... ;)
