Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

No self-care for me. Unless you count bathing, washing my hair every couple of days, and keeping my nails trimmed. Every 5-6 weeks I can get my hair colored and trimmed. But I don't get to do anything special.

I'm angry with our governor. I mentioned that I was upset about the baby in our state who passed away, and it was said that he/she died of the coronavirus. My anxiety and PTSD issues went through the roof. Come to find out yesterday that while the child did have the virus, the death was due to a physical accident. Can I sue the jerk for mental anguish? (No, I know I can't, but I wish I could let him know just how it affected me. And I'm still upset about it anyway.)

We've been taking it easy this weekend. My mom wanted to buy mulch yesterday, so we all got in the car to take a ride. Josh and I stayed in the car, DH got out only to help Mom load the car. We put bears outside so people in our town could do the bear hunt. I saw this craft project in my mom's group and we did it today: (I don't know why it's sideways...)

Teachers in town have been doing parades. Since the students in Josh's preschool are from multiple towns, there's going to be a "reverse parade" on Tuesday morning - we parents can take the kids to the school and drive through the parking lot, where the teachers will be outside. Looking forward to it!

Question of the day: What's a favorite family dinner?

Typically Sundays here is family dinner that is big meal for the week because we'd be going every direction. I'm cooking pasta tonight with leftover chicken so no big dinner tonight. I think one of our favorite family dinner meals is stuffed chicken/pork chops, loaded mashed potatoes and spicy brussel sprouts.
Hm...always love take-away dinners. Chinese, pizza...one of the Italian restaurants here makes a fabulous shrimp parmesan! My mother also has a recipe for shrimp and cod with tomatoes, and I like it over linguine. Love her shrimp scampi, too. It sure looks like my favorites involve shrimp... ;)

Question of the day: What's a favorite family dinner?

Just 2 of us here.....so I am the cook, cook decides.
There are a lot I do over and over..........pizza casserole, taco salad, smothered chicken, chili, I could go on and on.

Tonight is grilling burgers and sausages, veggies tray, pasta salad, chips and birthday cake for DH.
The family is coming over :yay:

I am a really good cook, but if I am being honest with you all our favorite family dinners involve eating out at a restaurant/bar. Whether it be a restaurant with great food and lots of beer choices. or a wine bar with food, or a fancy cocktail bar with food, or a Mexican restaurant with fabulous margaritas, that's just how we roll since it is just the two of us.

When we visit my family there is an awesome steak restaurant that we always hit up and there's good pizza/Italian when we go visit my husband's family.

3. The smart people that made flavored coffee creamer.

So true!! I've been buying the "good" flavors at every long-planned-out grocery trip. DH and I both love them, and it gives us a little something to look forward to.

My other thankfuls today are:
1. adorable animals to start my day - There was a squirrel at the bird feeder, with a blue jay patiently waiting for his turn, and one of the cats and I sat by another window watching two bunnies. It put me in a good mood first thing.

2. Hallmark movies - Watched one with my morning coffee, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Question of the day: What's a favorite family dinner?

Lately, I think my guys are most excited for tortellini soup days!

Question of the day: What's a favorite family dinner?
My personal favorite dinner is one I don't have to cook or clean up. But out regulars are spaghetti, chili, chicken. Nothing out of the ordinary. I do have a WW salmon and roasted veggie one I like now.

Today's gratitudes:
Online church
Sunday afternoon family Zooms.
Mowing the grass today, on the riding mower.

Roasted chicken is one of our favorite family dinners. Either with stuffing or homemade mashed potatoes, and some kind of veggie,, usually corn in the summer time. Your stuffed chicken/pork chops, loaded mashed taters, and spicy brussel sprouts sounds delicious..can you please share how you make the brussel sprouts spicy? Thanks!

I love this positive thread. I think our family favorite Sunday dinner is BBQ. I love it because I'm not the cook. DH will do chicken, sausage and burgers and we will eat on it for a couple of days.

My 3 gratitudes for today.

Facetime mass said by my retired priest Uncle -attended by all my siblings and cousins and many of the nieces and nephews

An absolutely beautiful/sunny day where I spent much time on the patio with my dog running around the backyard

My husband is baking a cake-- this never happens so I'm looking forward to it after dinner

We got out our Wii Fit that we haven’t played in years! I had even forgotten what games there were. We played for about 30 min tonight before turning in. It was fun. We laughed. We’ll play some more tomorrow.
Good news is that at the grocery pick up on Friday, we finally got flour! It really is the little things that make me happy! Let the baking begin! Hang in there everyone!

DH and I eat anything, but my favorites are "one pot meals" or "sheet pan dinners." I'm happy, so DH is happy.

Our favorite dinner right now that everyone can eat when my kids and their significant others are over is tricky. No nuts, gluten free, dairy free, meat free for the pescatarian. My poor potential future grandchildren are doomed!

Vietnamese "Bun" salad with grilled shrimp is my personal favorite to serve and everyone seems happy. Grilled salmon and pineapple fried rice is a favorite too.

Question of the day: What's a favorite family dinner?

So the three of us have our own favorites and usually dinner is us each making our own thing. LOL Hubby and daughter LOVE pasta, especially mac and cheese...lol As I said before I love snack foods so if they make mac n cheese, or some other kind of pasta dish, I just have snacks.

Some things we all love are turkey stroganoff, corn, some salad and garlic bread, chicken enchiladas with refried beans, and these amazing pita sandwiches I never make anymore(mental note to add to my grocery list for next grocery run...lol)

Wii....good idea. I'm going to ask DD to set it back up tomorrow. We used to have soo much fun playing on the Wii when she was younger. Can't wait....thanks for the idea.

A couple of family favorites:
DS loves meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn.
DH ate 2 plates of the braised short ribs with polenta last night. I can tell the nights when he likes what is made, instead of nights when he eats just enough to get him to the next meal, haha.
DD#1 and DD#2 will eat the heck out of tacos and margaritas.
SoIL#1 likes his mother's cooking...which is, to say, very outdated. Well done steaks, orange jello salad, etc. DD#1 is slowly changing his eating habits, lol.
SoIL#2 likes his mother's cooking...which is pretty good (Cambodian cooking). Last time I made my roast w/roasted potatoes and veggies, he ate over half of it!
Personally, my favorite thing to eat is something I don't make OR clean up for. :teeth:

ETA: We are having my favorite for lunch! :cool1: I ordered Five Guys.

Happy Monday to all!
I have finished my first test of the short 8 week semester. I fumbled through it and came out with an A so I won't complain. In celebration I finally baked my lemon coffee cake today. It's in the oven and smells outstanding. I have been putting off baking because if I bake it then, I have to eat it and I'm trying really hard to keep on the healthy side and not do the easy slide to stuffing my face with all the tasty but not healthiest foods. Doritos I'm looking at you...

I found out here in Indiana colleges are going to be online all summer, which huge indicator that things aren't going back to normally right away. I didn't expect it would but still just another sign of this weird new normal at least for a while. It's okay we will get through this. We are strong and resilient and can do this. The hard part of just putting the head down and charging ahead is going to be difficult for a lot of people. It will seem heartless but it's also about just getting through. Every time my husband was deployed, I would just get up and do my day and go to sleep knowing another day was done. I had to think that no news was good news and no phones calls of information meant all was good in my bubble of the world. Unfortunately this is very similar.

Dinner tonight is ribs I have cooked in crock pot and will bake in the oven with sauce to crisp up. I'll serve with potato salad and coleslaw. And cake!

Gratitude today:
1. Beautiful sunny spring day. It makes me feel hopeful especially during this holy week.
2. My appreciation for my grandparents who taught me how to scratch cook and appreciate the simpleness of it.
3. Today I am really thankful for leadership at the state level. I didn't vote for him the first time but I believe I will this time around.
He is doing a great job communicating with the state and how to push forward and shows caring of the Hoosiers.

Peace and safe health to all

Question of the day: 4/6: What's a favorite flavor of cake?

I'm one of the odd ones that doesn't really like chocolate cake. Of course I don't turn it down because it's cake but my favorite flavor is probably strawberry cake and strawberry icing or strawberry shortcake. I also love lemon cake and chocolate icing. Odd combination I suppose but I like it. My husband's favorite is carrot cake or peanut butter cake. But like me, there's really no bad cake flavor.
