I've been better. I've been sick the last week, like literally sick. I've chugged 2 bottles of Mucinex so far; it's the only thing that is touching this. I have tested negative at home 4 times (2 different brands of tests) and once at Walgreens, so it's definitely a cold. Started as a sinus infection, morphed into a throat/upper chest congestion. Today is the first day in a week that I've felt remotely like doing anything.
Still coughing some, and I've gone through 4 boxes of tissues in 4 days. I still went out and mowed the front and back yards, and most of the way back, except where it angles too much for me to wrestle the mower up; cleaned the whole house, top to bottom; and I've only skipped making dinner once this week. (pizza) Oiy, the mowing about killed me. DH couldn't do it, since he had to work extra all week, and DS was with him at work every day.

I haven't shared it with DH or DS (who is back home now). he's starting a course at the local college to get a drafting certificate. He decided that earning $20 an hour, in the a/c and not having to deal with customers is a great option at 18). He can get the cert in less than 9 months (it's a 9 mo course, but self paced, so he could probably get it in done in 3-4 months if he put his nose on it), and we told him we'd cover his credit card bill and his needs for that time, plus help him buy a wardrobe for work (and he would be just riding with DH) OR he could take his time, but he would need to get a part time job if he's not doing school full time. Same plan we had in place in January, before DD#2 interfered and got him to move to Cali.

Mentally, still not feeling the US right now; seems it got a little worse today.

DD#2 turns 29 tomorrow; and next week, she goes in to get some tests done. TMI:::::::: She had a neg pap a few years ago; another last year in Oki; and one a few weeks ago. The Gyn said that it could be just cysts, or pre-cancerous cells or cancer; they won't know until they go in and do some scrapings. She has a...um...sounds like colonoscopy...uh....coloscopy? I cannot remember if that was it....next week. The gyn in Cali at Pendleton said that it should have been done in Oki last year; was not happy about it at all.

So, yeah, dealing with all that. Thanks for asking. I've been stopping in and reading, but I've been doing it on my phone, cause I've been too exhausted to sit at my desk, and I HATE trying to type on the Dis on my phone, so...
Re: printers. DH said next time we get a printer, we're getting one of the ecotank ones. No ink cartridges; just a bottle that loads the tank, so you only fill it enough to use, so it doesn't dry out. We don't print very often anymore, so this would work great for us.

Everyone and everything else seems to be going ok.
((huggles)) to all who need them.
@lynxstch I use Stove Top cornbread stuffing in turkey burgers. Makes them taste a little like Thanksgiving, haha.
Time to go chug some more Mucinex, and take a hot steam shower. Then I'll be off to bed. Have a good night, y'all.

Could it be a conization or cone biopsy of the cervix? I had one (cold knife conization) when I had precancerous cervical cells. They ended up doing scrapings and I've been fine ever since.

This was in my 40ties and 'after' I had been scheduled for a hysterectomy that was not ok'ed by my insurance, thankfully, as it turned out I didn't actually need one.

Thank you, Kirby! Hooray for Kroger bargains especially on gas. Ralph's doesn't have any gas stations out here. Only Costco and Sam's Club do, and we are not members of either--expense and none in our immediate area...
Vons/Safeway has gas stations, too. I don't know how many in the L.A. area, but we've seen them. Vons Club members can earn gas rewards.

Good morning, all. And hugs, B&B - I hope you're feeling better soon!

Thank you all for the turkey burger hints, and the compliments on the the hummingbird photos. I'm afraid we'll have to make do with some bigger birds today, as I finally made it out to NY yesterday! I did stop at the lake to take a couple of photos on the way, though, and some geese cooperated;

I was hesitant to even post about my plans, because I was afraid something would go wrong again. It's just me here this time, to help them sort through some house stuff because they are moving. (We all hope to come again later in the summer just for a visit.) It was the first time I've made the drive all by myself, and I it went really well.

Happy Friday!

Sat outside by my little pool yesterday afternoon. Very relaxing sitting in the backyard vs a public swim club. 🏝️

I'm working a 1/2 day today, I have quite a few things to get done this afternoon. I have to work all weekend, the holiday on Monday and I need to go in to the office on Tuesday so that doesn't leave much time to get things done before I leave for vacation. ✈️

Anyone going to a fireworks show this weekend? I'm not but when the kids were little we always went to one of the parks that had a big fireworks display and food booths set up. It was fun, very crowded. Now I make sure that I'm home since my dogs freak out and people set them off in the neighborhood. The past few years, I've been sitting on my front porch watching them.

Getting a little hungry so I'm off to cook up some eggs then get started with work. Have a great day!

My orange cup moment is that I still charge Chris' cell phone. It is deactivated but has pictures on it. It makes me want to be sick to give up doing it so I keep charging it.
I don't blame you! Pictures are important.
We are now thinking of going to Santa's Village in late August.
We went there when DS was about 3. We loved it!
We cannot have any kind of bird feeder here. That is a definite con for this place. I thought we could have small clean type feeders but they came out with an email saying no bird feeders or bird houses.
🙁

Good morning all. Another hot day in the 90's. Maybe a storm, but doubtful.
@easyas123 Glad your tests were negative. Enjoy your weekend.

@Bianca and Bernard --Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you recover soon. You sound like me, going out and doing chores even while sick. Please take it easier today! Good luck to your son at college, and I hope your daughter 's tests go well, and it's nothing serious.

@Breezy_Carol I had never heard of Eggspectations before..the name had me curious enough to look up their menu. Everything sounds so delicious!

@frog3101 Sending you big hugs to get you through another day

@Snowysmom Hoping that the more you get settled, the more you will like the condo.

It will be a year on Tuesday that Mr L ended up in the hospital with cellulitis , that started a year of recovering and he still doesn't have the strength he had before this. Wish his legs would get stronger so we could take a weekend and go somewhere, but I don't see that happening anytime soon :(

Glad I did all the outside chores yesterday, just going out to water everything now in case we don't get the rain they are saying. Supposed to be hot right through the holiday

I went to bed at 9 last nite,I was exhausted, but still had a hard time falling asleep, and /or staying asleep.

Off to figure out something for dinner. I told Mr L I want the weekend's meals planned today, I want to know what to defrost and what to make.

Have a great day, stay cool

Wow! I do remember that and how worried we all were. It's hard to believe it's been a whole year. Does he have any PT that he's still supposed to be doing? If not, it might be worth asking his primary for a referral for some.

Funny you mentioned that. I told him the other day he needed to ask his PCP for a referrral, that he needed to have Matt the PT guy he had come back again. He says 'he forgot'. Well I remembered it Wednesday and called and left a message for her. She's not there on Wed or Fridays,,and being Monday is a holiday, I will have to call again on Tuesday and see why she didn't call me back. He is supposed to still be doing his leg and arm exercises, but being a man, he says he doesn't need to. Then everytime we go out somewhere he's complaining that his legs are stiff walking and sitting in the car. I said well if you got more exercise they wouldn't get that way! MEN!

I honestly can't remember what she called it. It is some kind of biopsy. DD#1 had one when she was 22ish; she had precancerous cervical cells that they scraped and burned? off, and she's been fine since.

@footballmouse No fireworks shows for us this year. I'm not feeling very...patriotic.
@lynxstch Isn't that like a man...whines about doing well, but doesn't put in the effort to fix it.

I had to go pick up DS's meds at Walgreens this morning, so I stopped by the grocery store while I was out. I splurged on some Publix hot and spicy wings and 'new orleans' style wings for lunch for us. $233; only meat I picked up were the wings (so $32ish), 4 packages of hot dogs for the month, and a package of Italian sausage for pizzas later in the month. Didn't get anything non-edible, and the only 'junk'food I bought were 2 boxes of Poptarts for DH/DS, 2 rolls of orange/cinnamon rolls, and 2 boxes of Skinny Pop microwave popcorn. The rest was fresh fruits/veggies, stuff for pizzas, cheese, and pantry stuff, like sherry vinegar. :faint:

DH got some good news. His company did a review, and decided they were paying people in his level too little, so he's getting a cost of living raise. It comes out to almost our rent payment every month, before taxes hit, so WOOT! :cool1: Plus, they are handing out $300 a month to each employee to help with the cost of gas/food, until December. :cheer2:His company gets a lot of flack in engineering boards about working their people, and their 'billing quotas', but they take good care of their employees. No one missed a paycheck during the pandemic, not even the secretaries. Everyone still got amazing Christmas bonuses; everyone got company dollars to spend at the company store and random monthly/quarterly rewards; and they sent out goodies (one package was a bag of games, like company branded Jenga, a couple of card games, a puzzle, etc) randomly throughout the shutdown. The offices are all different, of course, but he is in a good one.

Anyways, I'm going to go eat my wings and potato salad now...can you believe I forgot the ranch? Oiy. Have a good day all!

B&B, hope you feel better real soon. Seems like a cold is so much worse in the summer.
He is supposed to still be doing his leg and arm exercises, but being a man, he says he doesn't need to.
I know, right! DH said that his equilibrium was off this morning, that he felt he had fluid in his ears. He was just going to suffer through it but I had him take some meclizine and Mucinex before he left. Last thing he needs is for him to get vertigo driving down the road.

Pollyanna, I love your geese picture. When DS was in college in Lubbock, TX the Canadian geese migrate through there and stop for the night. It's amazing to see all of them. We have them come through here but not as many.

Hooray I'm finally able to log in! The board has been down for me all morning.

:grouphug:Lynn! Wow time really does fly. I also remember when Mr. L was in the hospital last year. So very much continued prayer, my friend, for both of you always.

:cheer2:B&B, your update has brightened my morning. So thankful to God for happy news for you and your DH, especially right now! Yay.

Have a wonderful and safe trip, PollyannaMom! Love the geese pictures🦆I know this is a duck but it's the closest to a goose that the Dis has! :)

Thanks, Luckyrabbit. No gas stations at either of our two closest Pavilions or any Von's anywhere near either as far as I know. We are signed up for Pavilions for you. The rewards points that we use for products but can also be used for gas are handy. Pre pandemic we did use fuel points earned at Ralph's at a nearby Shell Station⛽

Happy July to all🌼and have a wonderful Friday, too!

I've been better. I've been sick the last week, like literally sick
throat/upper chest congestion
I have tested twice, both times negative. But my throat is killing me and I've got 'the headache'. Summer cold I guess, I'm feeling like hell warmed over for sure. Hit the nightquill last night, and theraflu today, hoping to get ahead of it.
I'm working a 1/2 day today,
I think we may close up shop a bit early here today, let everyone get a head start on their holiday weekend. For me that will look like either going to the grocery store or going home to mow!
Anyone going to a fireworks show this weekend
na...staying up for fireworks and /or dealing with crowds & driving somewhere at 9 or 10 at night is my idea of torture :jumping1: . We can sometimes see the fireworks from Baltimore or Rock Hall, MD from our front porch, and god knows the rednecks around us will be shooting them off all weekend. I'm not anti-fireworks by any means, I'm just anti- making a effort to go anywhere to see them.
Glad your tests were negative. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks - I'm glad, too...you enjoy your weekend, too!
I had never heard of Eggspectations before..the name had me curious enough to look up their menu. Everything sounds so delicious!
Me, either! I admit the first think I did was look up the menu too! Next Sunday I have to go to the Costco right up from that location before heading up to PHL to pick my mother up, I may try it out!

Have a good, safe weekend everyone! Enjoy your BBQ's, picnics, get-to-gethers and whatever else you decide to get into. No grand plans for us, may take a boat ride. Might take in a movie. Will defiantly take it easy!

Happy 4th of Julyparty:

We've been busy with company but just had to share a funny picture I shared on Instagram and FB this morning. We had to move the dog bed in the family room for an air mattress. This morning, before we could fold it up for the day, Buddy decided it's his bed now.
20220701_093233.jpg

I sat on the couch next to the bed and put my feet up and he started grumbling at me until I took them off. :laughing:What a brat. :lmao:

Fireworks are illegal around here but I'm sure we'll see some illegal ones. Our city does a big fireworks display in Sept for "our city" days celebration and we always go to that but 4th of July, we don't bother. We'll be at our friends house swimming tomorrow with our visiting family and then again on the 4th.

Hope you all have a great safe weekend.

Good afternoon.

It is a hot one today. DD and family are mostly moved in. The houses are so close that if something is forgotten, they can run over and get it. Today they get internet. And they have a deposit for a fence to be installed, which they need. I stayed at the new house with both kids and the dog while DH, DD, DSIL all went to the old house to empty the attic to the pod, which gets moved today. They kids wanted to play outside and I could not manage both kids and the dog so I made everyone play inside.

Today DH and I went to Home Depot and Atlantic Tractor. Very exciting stuff.

Around here, each town has fireworks in different nights so you could conceivably go 4 nights in a row. I think we will go to the Chesapeake City ones tonight. Sunday we and DD's family are going to the Illuminated Fountains and patriotic music at Longwood Gardens. Monday we are going to Queenstown (@easyas123 's neck of the woods) to go to a gathering of DS's wife's family. It was nice to be included. After DDIL's baby shower, I was told if I made my mint chocolate brownies I'd be invited. LOL

@AuntieMe3 , Buddy looks quite comfortable.

@Bianca and Bernard and @easyas123 , I hope you feel better.

I'm glad some of you looked at Eggspectation.

Does he have any PT that he's still supposed to be doing? If not, it might be worth asking his primary for a referral for some.
@lynxstch , I concur. He won't get any stronger sitting in a chair. Even just a short walk ever two hours would help.
DH got some good news. His company did a review, and decided they were paying people in his level too little, so he's getting a cost of living raise.
Woo Hoo! Sounds like a good company.
and god knows the rednecks around us will be shooting them off all weekend.
:rotfl2:Here too.

Stay safe everyone

We have some Canada Geese that came through here, stopped, stayed and have never left. There's a small retention pond in the woods at the end of our street and they've adopted that as their home. They've been known to stop me when they parade the goslings across the road.

Dang, thought I'd watch a Hallmark Movie but it's Christmas in July. I am so not into that. No more Hallmark until August.
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries was doing Christmas but switched back to normal this morning. (My dad was happy - we watched several episodes of Murder She Wrote.) So if you get both, you should still be able to have a Halmark fix.
