Woohoo to @lynxstch for getting her mower before the end of the summer!
@AuntieMe3 I love that kind of landscaping in hot areas. Pretty nice garden setup too
Nothing here today; did some laundry, did some cleaning. Black pepper glazed pork chops and salad for dinner; madeline cookies from Sam's for dessert.
Talking about service. DSonIL#2 says he doesn't like to be thanked. My dad was USAF in Korea and Army in Vietnam, and he NEVER talked about either time. I know he hated being recognized for being in war, and the only time he shared stuff was when he was with war buddies at the bar. In Korea, he did something with mechanics and trucks or planes, maybe; and in Vietnam, the only thing he'd say was that he couldn't talk about what he did, it was behind the lines stuff. He was working for a trucking company in the late 70s, and they hauled the mail for USPS (IDK if USPS didn't have trucks then or if it was overflow or what, I was just a kid) and the drivers had to be 'vetted' before they could haul those trailers. Dad's boss came back to him and told him that he couldn't get anyone to give dad clearance to haul the mail; that dad's file was so locked down, that the people in charge of vetting the drivers couldn't read it. Dad had to call an old army buddy who was still in the military to get them to clear his driving the mail! When he died, we found a box of medals and stuff that he had put away, that none of us kids knew he had.
