Good morning all. Rained lightly overnite, is sprinkling now, possibility of strong storms later. I have a Drs appt this morning 9( just my 6 month followup visit), then a stop at the downtown farmers market. Then home for laundry, dusting and vacuuming--exciting day right? LOL!

Have a great morning everyone

Happy Thursday! :dogdance:

Rained last night but I didn't realize that until I woke up and saw that the ground was wet. Supposed to rain more today.☔

Decided to go out and put the mulch down around the pond instead of waiting until Sunday. Of course when I was cleaning up before putting any down, I saw a snake 😵‍💫, in the house I ran. Called Ds3 and asked if he could come over and finish it for me since I had it started and it was supposed to rain. By the time he got to the house, the snake was gone. Now I'm afraid to go in my backyard. I hate that! 😫

Didn't do much else, just watched the baseball game.

Frog - good luck on the job prospect!🤞

I think that's it for me this morning, short and sweet. Have a great day! :smickey:
I sprinkle snake away around my patio to discourage any. We've had black snakes (harmless) in the past but even though they are a beneficial snake to have around, I prefer none.

@Breezy_Carol your plans sound wonderful. The temple and Longwood sound like excellent destinations.

@Snowysmom safe:hug:

DH and I had our first trip to the Outer Banks recently, and I was glad to see that region. It was a trip to visit with a good friend who has rented different houses in that area for a few weeks in May for 25 years. This was her first time as a widow, and we wanted to be there for her in this bittersweet time. She had pictures of Jack in many places so he could be there with her. I know that we appreciated her hospitality and felt a special bond with her as she shared her memories of the place and Jack with us.

During our time with her, we went to Mass with her, and the priest offered the Sacrament of the Sick to those interested, and we three participated. It was an added blessing to our special visit.

She's so lucky to have friends like you.

DD went to the Outer Banks for a few days last summer on my free nights, but I decided to stay home. It's been planned again and I'm considering going. There are 2 to 4 day beach trips sprinkled in both June and July between both of us - Ocean City, Virginia Beach, Outer Banks, then back to Ocean City. None planned for August yet.

I may cancel and rebook late July into August as that date usually coincides with the Greek Festival weekend (convention Center) in Ocean City, Maryland, but I see it's again canceled for the 3rd year. Greek dancing, coffee and pastries, and dinner to eat in or take with you with all the usual dishes. And the 1000 ticket drawing for $100 a ticket...I consider it a donation.

Good morning! I wish I was a more positive person. DH got some slightly good news after his scan last week. But, I can't seem to get passed waiting for the next bad news to arrive.

It has cooled down quite a bit here, so hopefully today I can get some of our beds around the hose cleaned up, I'm really behind this year. DS planted my garden yesterday, just a few tomato plants, peppers, and kohlrabi, I went out last night and they looked pretty sad, but I'm sure they will perk up.

Frog.... So sorry, that your husband has hurt you so deeply, my hope is that in time, you can feel at peace. You are being very strong for your children.

Snowysmom.... As you start to do some normal, everyday things at the condo, I think it will slowly begin to feel more comfortable. Maybe, try cooking a meal, watching a favorite tv program, putting on makeup, reading a book, etc. all of these things will help you normalize your new home. If you are like me, I would be fighting this though, because you don't want a "new normal." You want your old life back, I totally get that. I have my DH yet, but I don't have my old life I wish peace for you.

Hug, PollyannaMom. I do hope you got some rest! I'm not a big eater period but am always hungriest when I first get up. What's funny is when I was younger, especially a kid, sometimes the idea of breakfast just didn't sit right until I was up for a while. Go kiddos baseball team⚾ What is their team called? :)

Champ was always hungry that's for sure, Easyas! You have a safe and good Thursday.

:grouphug:Frog, I truly admire your courage and kind, wise, parenting! I am so sorry that you and your children are dealing with all this is. one thing for sure is all of you will be just fine! We're here and so care.
:scared1:to creepy snakes, Footballmouse! They can sure stay FAR away from me, too! You enjoy a calmer day! I hope your baseball team won last night and will again today :)

:grouphug:Bobbiwoz, that sounds like a very special and healing trip. Prayers it truly was my friend.

Love the ::MinnieMopicture, Lynn. Prayers all go well and smoothly for you at the doctor.
LOL, to "snake away," Judique. I love it though! Perfect. I so agree. Prayers you do get to enjoy a beach vacation or two:beach:I was emailing with a friend sharing how much I loved walking along a very quiet beach when I lived in a small town. When I was younger, living at the beach sounded so idyllic. These days, I'd probably enjoy a beach experience similar to the quaint Hallmark movie Christmas lodges. I still would love to experience a weekend at one of those 🎄

Just ♥️and 🙏 Dazed. Thank you for sharing such kind and wise words!

Have any of you ever ordered a light weight (heavier plastic or melamine) bowl for your children or grandkids? I saw this Cereal Bowl on Amazon last night along with some choices on sites I have never used--Etsy and Youcustomize it. I would want something smaller and much lighter (ideally not breakable) than the bowl in the link. Thanks, friends :)

Last call today on the remaining magnets! Please do PM me by this evening if you would like one of the remaining 4 choices.

Dad and I were talking yesterday about visiting DL one day long in the future. He was doing a crossword puzzle in which Roo was an answer 🦘 We both agreed it would be cute to get a picture with Kanga and Roo together. I posted just yesterday how fun it would be to get our Quacker Family picture taken with Donald and Daisy when we have our meetup.

QOTD 1: Have you ever had your picture taken with two Disney Characters at one time?
QOTD 2: What two Disney Characters would you most like to have your picture taken with? (For me ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo)

Hugs for a happy Thursday to all!

Would you believe...the Iron Pigs? 🐷 No clue where it comes from.

QOTD 1: Have you ever had your picture taken with two Disney Characters at one time?
QOTD 2: What two Disney Characters would you most like to have your picture taken with? (For me ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo)
Q1 - Yes, a few:
  • DS with Chip & Dale
  • DS & I with Mary Poppins & a penguin
  • DS with Goofy & Pluto
Q2 - Alice & the Mad Hatter

QOTD 1--yes
Mr L and I with Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet at the Crystal Palace
Me with Minnie and Mickey (disneyland)
Mr L with Goofy
Me with Minnie and Mickey (disney world)

QOTD 2
Figment (alas, never to be unless they bring him back someday)

Appt went well, Dr was very pleased. He isn't handing me off to one of the other cardiologist in that office (thankfully, because he is the only one I trust). Wants to see me again in 3 months and may possibly stop the Amiodarone. He doesn't like having his patients on it for long, as it can cause long term side effects with liver, thyroid, etc.
Stopped at Farmers market and got white onions, red onions, multi colored radishes, and ****ake mushrooms. Mr L wants to make himself a stir fry for dinner ( I don't like anything he puts in them, so will find something else)
Came home and weedwacked the driveway edges, around the trees, and all the spots I couldn't get at with the mowers. Clouding over now, calling for storms after 3. Its one of our grandaughter high school graduation today, so we will be watching it online.

Have a nice afternoon

Trying to do a quick few comments before I need to pack for overnight and leave.

DH and I had our first trip to the Outer Banks recently
Where (what town) did you stay? We like Southern Shores but are trying south Nags Head this year.

There are 2 to 4 day beach trips sprinkled in both June and July
Wonderful! I love the beach.

sometimes the idea of breakfast just didn't sit right until I was up for a while.
l‘m that way. In elementary school, I never ate breakfast. Now I do, but I have to be up a while first.

Good QOTD but I don’t have time to look through albums right now.

That is quite a team name, PollyannaMom. I never would have guessed that lol. Love that you got a picture with Mary Poppins and a penguin, how cool! I am pretty sure I saw a penguin walking around once at DL but didn't get a picture. I would definitely enjoy some rarer seen character photos. I am hoping one day to get back to DL for the Eggs-travaganza Easter Egg Hunt and possibly seeing Rabbit at the Pooh ride.

:hug:Lynn, I'm so glad to hear of your good doctor report. Wow, like PollyannaMom, you got to meet multiple two characters how fun! I've only seen multi characters at character breakfasts or parades but never together for pictures.

Same here, Carol. I would be hungry around 10 or so but never at 7am when I first got up.

I hope all of you are having a good Thursday so far :)

I have had my picture taken with 2 Disney characters at a time, Minnie and Mickey. I would like to have my picture taken with Belle and Donald Duck. Something to try to go for in October.

@dazedx3 Slight good news is still good news. Hang onto to that.

I am fighting going to a new place to live as I want my old life with Chris back. I also fight the fact that Chris did not take care of himself and seek medical care when he should have. My therapist tells me I have to let it go and should not deal with what ifs. Chris did not get medical care, even though I had many times asked him to go to the doctor, and passed. I have to accept that and not think that if he had taken care of himself he would be here now. That has been eating at me all these months and I know I do have to let it go. Once I do live at the condo I do hope to get into a routine. I will be lonely but that is the way it is. My really good friend offered to spend the first night with me. She is so sweet to offer but I know I need to just pull off the bandaid and do it myself. I may ask her to come over the next day and we can go to lunch. I am looking to find some peace.

Frog I admire the way you are dealing with everything especially asking your husband not to bring his girlfriend around your kids. I hope you and your kids find your new home to be a place of healing and peace. You are a strong person.

Another day of just chilling out after work. No energy. Actually I did go out and get gas in my car before the price goes up again. I have been watching Queen Elizabeth. She is an amazing woman. I loved the little one, Louis, who was acting up a bit on the balcony next to the Queen. One word from Mom and he was quiet for a few seconds. He was so cute. Prince Charles does not look that good. He looks older than his years and I think older than the Queen. I wonder how his health is. If I could have lunch with any historical/famous person she is the one I would pick. I would love to hear her stories of WW II and how she helped. I have read many books about her life and find it fascinating.

Have a good night.

Just finished watching the live stream of our second oldest granddaughter's graduation. They had 264 in their class, and received more than 3 million dollars in scholarships..wow! This is the first graduation we got to actually see. Our oldest granddaughter graduated the year Mr L 'died' 2x. She graduated college last year, but because of covid there was no ceremony. Stepdaughter has 2 sons who should have graduated, but the older one never finished getting his GED online, and the younger one didn't even finish 9'th grade . And the 2 girls may end up following in their brothers footsteps at the rate its going.
Though I would share a screenshot we got of our Gabrielle getting her diploma~~

:grouphug:Snowysmom. What ifs can be brutally crushing along with faith and life in general extinguishing. I continue to PRAY to you come to indeed let go and let God give you the peace He has for you and that Chris wants you to grasp. We all do, my friend!

God Bless, Gabrielle, Lynn! Thank you for sharing with us her very special moments! I wish her a ton of future happiness.

Just finished my Zoom book group from church. We discussed The Sound of Gravel by Ruth Wariner which was very good.
That book sounds interesting. I've added it to my "to read" list and I'm going to present it later this year for my book club to read. We had our book club meeting Monday night. Our book for May was The Dutch House by Ann Pachett. Some liked it and others didn't.

frog, I feel for you. DD's ex has had Lil Joe around multiple women since they separated five years ago. And talk about being difficult to deal with........
QOTD 1: Have you ever had your picture taken with two Disney Characters at one time?
QOTD 2: What two Disney Characters would you most like to have your picture taken with? (For me ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo)
I think that I've only had my picture taken with one character at a time, Pooh and the Beast. I don't have any particular one that I would want my picture taken with.

DH put a sprinkler system in my front flower beds this week. I am so happy! We also planted our first bush, a Vicary Golden Privet Ligustrum. It's in a spot that it can basically grow with no limitations. Now to pick out our next bushes that go in front of our windows.

DD tweaked her back last night. It's gotten worse today. I went with her for the kids yearly check up. Then we went to Ham Orchards for some peaches and some peach ice cream. Yum! I got the Peach/Strawberry Swirl. Also some nice looking large tomatoes, fried pies (peach, apple, coconut and cherry), Love Cake, Chicken Spaghetti and Chicken Pot Pie. When we got home she got stuck on the toilet, could not get up so I helped her. She was embarrassed and I told her that I didn't see anything (I didn't). She tried to get into the doctor but they told her to go to Urgent Care or the ER. DH took her to the ER and after 3+ hours of sitting in the waiting room they came home. She's going to try and get into the doctors tomorrow. If not, she is heading to Urgent Care. Icing her back right now.

Ugh. I was out early on Tuesday and needed an inspection sticker. I drove by a gas station and noticed no one was in line, so I went in, then left to take the dogs for a walk. Was shocked when I came back and they said they’d failed my car for tires, and put a red rejection sticker on it! Omg! I wish they’d said ahead of time that it looks like you need new tires before they failed it! I went to the gas station we use more frequently to talk about tires and they were surprised they’d failed me, saying they would’ve just told me I needed new tires for next time, etc. 😬 So I spent a couple of days shopping around for tires.

Websites gave me the wrong size tire when I plugged in my car information. Figured that out after spending a couple of hours tire shopping online, that they were a whole different size, like what was on there already. Called the dealership to confirm. Luckily I found a good deal online on correct size, and went down to have them done. Got all the way there after dropping Toto off at the groomer, and a guy came out from the back saying they couldn’t do them that day, that I’d have to come back. Lady I’d spoken to (and I) were irritated with that, but ultimately I had to go back today. So I spent three hours there, then had to go back to gas station to have them remove the rejection sticker (which I’ve never had in my life before) and give me a passing one, but I had to wait all over again. Have I mentioned I hate sitting in car places waiting for things? But glad that’s done. I felt like it sucked up my whole week, though. Next time if there is any doubt at all, I’m going to ask them to check them before I put in officially to start the sticker process.

Other than that, things are good. Been getting lots of walking in w dogs. Grady is active, there’s no way he’s 8! He chewed DS’s good sneaker pretty good 😂 and he gets a little restless if not exercised a good deal. He was sitting up in DS’s room during the day, which was fine, but I preferred he came to hang out with us downstairs, to be part of the family, and he did today. I’d set up a crate for when no one’s home, which has only happened twice, but he didn’t mind going in, and today he sat in it with the door open. Good for him to have his ‘safe space’. He follows Toto around outside, it’s pretty cute. Toto is the leader, lol. They are getting close. And Grady is starting to fill out a bit, he was very bony and skinny. He made a leap for some chicken tonight, but we were able to tell him No, and he listened. We have to go easy with our voice corrections as he’s very sensitive to voice, and he cowers if you walk near him 🙁 so we just keep walking and act as if nothing is wrong, so he learns no one is going to hurt him or yell at him, etc. He is a beautiful dog, and very, very sweet. Loves hugs. He is sort of obsessed with DS, but he loves all of us, and comes over to give kisses and get hugs. He’s also really smart, as Shepherds are, ie he’s learning quickly. I didn’t do a lot with his training this week as I was unexpectedly busy, but we did do some work with walking on leash with our many walks, and he’s getting better. Overall he’s settled in very well. Thanks for asking @Snowysmom!

Oh, we did get out last night for dinner and to see Top Gun. We loved it! The first one was always a favorite, and the sequel didn’t disappoint. We’re on vacation (staycation) in a couple of weeks, we might see it again. We love seeing movies on the big screen. Good night, all. 🐥

Morning all. It's already hot and muggy here.

@Pea-n-Me I'm happy that Grady is settling into your family! We don't have inspections here in FL; half the cars I've seen here would fail for one reason or another, lol.

@Kirby hope your DD is ok!

@lynxstch congrats to the grad! It's sad about your step-grandkids; that's one thing we told our kids was non-negotiable...either a diploma or a GED.

@ the QOTD: I don't really do pictures, but the kids/grandkid have photos with: Wendy/Peter; Mickey/Minnie; Stepsisters + some with Evil stepmother too; the two main bugs in Bugs Life (DL); Snow White and Sleeping Beauty with DS; Chip n Dale; Pooh/Piglet; Chip/Dale/Captain Hook; Captain Hook/Smee; Aladdin/Jasmine; Beast/Beauty; Dog and boy from UP; Mad Hatter/White Rabbit (that was a totally random one at the carousel!); Piglet/Eeyore...and I think there's a few more, I just don't remember off hand.
QOTD: I'd like to get one with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Also, one with all the villians!

----------------------------------------
Yesterday, we had pork burrito bowls. Today, for lunch, I'm making DH mushroom po'boys, I'm having whatever kind of sandwich stuff I pick up at the store, + roasted potato wedges and coleslaw. Tonight, we're doing bbq pineapple flatbread pizzas.

I'm running up to the store in a little bit. I need to pick up some ice because....our new fridge is coming in this afternoon. Hooray! The installer said it will take up to 24 hours for the fridge to get settled, and to not put anything in until then; so I need to grab a few big bags of ice to keep the stuff from the fridge cold in the coolers. Mostly condiments, cheese, creamer and DH's insulin; I'm not worried about the produce (mostly oranges/lemons/limes). I need to empty the fridge (freezer has just a few things in it) and wipe it down (about a 5 minute job, as it's pretty clean, just a few spots). DH is working from home, so he's going to pull it out so I can sweep and mop that area before they come. :cool1: IDK what kind of fridge it will be; I'm hoping still a nice one with the ice/water in the door; but truthfully, as long as it can hold its temperature, I'll be happy. It's not mine, after all.

Repair guy from Rooms to Go stopped in yesterday (finally!) to look at the side table; it's defective and we missed it when they were putting them together. We noticed about a week later that the glass top doesn't sit flat on the wood base; the base is cut too short on one side! But it has taken them almost 3 months to get here (got the furniture at the beginning of March), because between Covid and furniture finally flowing in consistently, they have been busy! Anyways, he was here for about 10 minutes; it took that long because he needed pictures from different angles, and he tried talking a lot, but I sort of cut him off and got him to leave. Now, hopefully RTG will send a replacement table base. He said they might just do a partial refund and I asked him to put in the notes that that was unacceptable. I have the lamp back on it, but we have to put a piece of folded up paper between the table and leg to balance it, and that isn't what I paid for.

Sunday DH has to fix the bathroom sink and spray outside the perimeter for bugs. He doesn't get to put it off another weekend. >:(

I have to buy DS a new bed (he wants a futon). It's just a matter of finding one with decent reviews that doesn't cost $1K. Less than 3 weeks until he's home. Told him he needs to start putting in for a job at the places that accept applications online this week. He has a credit card bill to pay, and now that he's an adult, he needs to start paying for his own stuff. We're giving him a small amount of time, then he has to start chipping in rent (which we will put away for him, like we did DD#2 when she moved back home with DGS#2); sort of an involuntary savings plan. He needs to figure out what he wants to do with his life; I'm ok with him not knowing yet, and taking a little bit time to figure things out. He's about 3 years behind (first job, learning to drive, etc) where DH and I were when we graduated high school, and part of that is due to the Covid situation, and part due to his mental health. Going to help him along, but he needs to continue the progress he made in Cali.

Well, I need to go shower and get moving.
I still need to cut the darn grass. Maybe after I get back from the store, I'll mow and then shower again. :rotfl:

Have a good day!

Happy Friday morning! :sunny: The sun is out today!

Well I went to the spinning class again and I just don't think it's for me🚴‍♀️. I can't stand and pedal and that's 1/2 the class. Sitting on that bike for 98% of the class makes your butt sore. If all I'm going to do is sit and pedal, I might as well use the bikes on the gym floor with the bigger seats. It was definitely a work out, that's for sure.:scared: I did like the pilates class earlier in the week so I will stick to that.

Today is National Donut Day. I'm going to swing by Dunkin later today for my refresher drink and get my free donut.🍩

I have to run out to a P&G facility this morning to turn in the scented deoderant that I've been testing. Last day so I'll get paid!

Ds2 is bringing his cat, Piper, over for a stay. She's being mean to their other cat and the dog (a German Shephard :sad2:) so he wants to give them a break from her for awhile. I told him that she better behave at my house. She used to live her and wasn't mean to my animals (except for one other cat) so hopefully she'll be good.

Pea-n-me, it sounds like you are doing an awesome job with Grady! He sounds like a big loveable handful of a dog.:dog: Glad you're willing to put so much time and effort towards him. What a mess that whole car situation was. I would have been in such a bad mood.:headache:

I'm working this weekend (nights), but it's with my favorite group of co-workers so it should be fun. One of the nurses has a big credit at Chipotle so she's using it for a catering order for us tonight. Looks like it's going to be Taco Friday for us.🌮🙂

Need to get ready to head out. Have a great day!:flower:

Good morning all. Going to be a sunny, beautiful day, no rain in sight, and no humidity

@Pea-n-Me That stinks about the rejection sticker. I remember when I lived up there,,I think we got one, once, something about the exhaust. They didn't tell us ahead of time either. Glad you got it all taken care of. Glad that Grady seems to be really settling in, I smiled when you said Toto is the leader and Grady follows him around, I could picture it in my mind, lol!

@footballmouse --good luck cat sitting!

@Bianca and Bernard Hope your new fridge is what you want, and that you don't have any issues with it. Glad you are not accepting the 'partial refund' on the table, you are right, you paid for it, it should be right in the first place, or made right to your satisfaction!

Today is cleaning day. Dusting, vacuuming, and washing the kitchen and bathroom floors. Then it will be done for the weekend. Lawn still doesn't need mowing again, so that will wait till Monday or Tuesday. Garden is growing well.

Have a great day everyone

Good morning everyone -
QOTD 1: Have you ever had your picture taken with two Disney Characters at one time?
QOTD 2: What two Disney Characters would you most like to have your picture taken with? (For me ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo)
hmmm? I don't know, I don't think so. I have a photo of the boys w/ Chip & Dale (somewhere, I think) from our first or second trip. I don't know if I've ever had my photo taken w/ a character. I think maybe a family photo with Mickey? Oh! My husband and I got a photo with one of the gals from Frozen (honestly, I don't know which one!) for our niece when she was 3 or 4 and big into Frozen.
I must admit, I'm not really into characters :-)
Appt went well, Dr was very pleased
That's great to hear.
Just finished watching the live stream of our second oldest granddaughter's graduation
Congrats to her!!! Fun fact, we did a small project on the grounds of that school several years ago, a Pump Station upgrade it was if memory serves me correctly.
DD tweaked her back last night.
ugh, I hate that. And it seems to take forever to rebound from those types of injuries. Hope she feels better soon -
then he has to start chipping in rent (which we will put away for him, like we did DD#2 when she moved back home with DGS#2); sort of an involuntary savings plan.
We did that with eldest when he moved home in between apartment living and buying a house. Handed him the $$$ back after he went to settlement on the house.
I still need to cut the darn grass
Me, too. We are going out of town for a few days tomorrow morning and we've got to get all the mowing done this evening. I'm seriously considering cutting out of here a bit early to get a handle on it. And I need to get the house straightened up.

Not much going on in our neck of the woods. Husband is home from out by Lynn's area of MD where he was helping put up the first cut of hay on his uncles farm. We are going to FL for a few days tomorrow morning, flying into Ft. Myers just as the weather hits. Figures, oh well. It'll pass by late tomorrow I think so we will still have Sunday & Monday. Had to burn up some airline credits that expire in a few days. Nothing like a last minute trip!

Pizza for supper this evening-

Have a good weekend everyone.

Happy Friday 🐣

I've enjoyed reading each of your character responses, thank you, friends :) I'm not always a huge fan of having my own picture taken that's for sure. As I get older, I have come to realize that especially when a photo can be taken of me with my dad that is so very special. Plus, these days with camera phones and being able to instantly see a picture and if need be try again makes all the difference.

Hooray for Grady:dogdance:I'm so happy he's settling in, Pea. Thank you for loving him and Toto, always, too!

Prayers for your DD, Kirby and always your precious grandkids (and dear you), too!

That's wonderful your new fridge is coming at last, B&B! I hope you get to enjoy your first treat from it this weekend :)

Enjoy your 🍩Footabllmouse!

Lynn, your weather sounds just lovely! Please enjoy it some. Maybe as our friend Easyas often does, sit outside and read for a bit.

Have a wonderful trip, Easyas!

Friday hug to all.

🐶 Glad to hear Grady is settling in, and sorry about the new tires, Pea.

❄️ Hope the new fridge is a good one, B&B,

🤞and that your DD's back starts feeling better, Kirby.

I had a good Zoom yoga class this morning, then took the cats out briefly. It was sprinkling a bit, so neither actually wanted to stay - it's just that they don't believe it's raining until they see for themselves. :rotfl:

My doctor's office called to move a follow-up appointment I was supposed to have this afternoon to Monday morning. Now I'm waiting on another call because I asked whether they needed to extend my antibiotic because of that, and the secretary had to check.

I have to call MIL about a question she texted DS (he left me the info as he had to dash off to work) but I know as soon as I do, the other phone will ring. :rolleyes2 So I'm kind of in limbo.
