Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I did get some sorting and a small bit of purging done yesterday and today.
I've been slowly going through cupboards, drawers and closets, It feels good getting rid of stuff thats just been sitting.

I've attempted to start a puzzle a few times in the last year. I WANT to get into them...I would think it would be a wonderful way to turn off my head and concentrate on something as a form of relaxation. But no matter what puzzle I try I can't get into them. I'd love to learn to knit/crochet, I think that would accomplish the same thing for me.
I would love to be able to get a puzzle out but the kids would have the pieces all over the house. I've been getting the urge lately to crochet don't know if I will though.

@Kirby, I just saw this posted on another thread (show-me-photos-an-avg-tourist-may-not-take) and thought it was yours for a second because of the names! But it says it's by goopysolelady. I'm guessing it's really related to animals at AK (or maybe the Living Seas at Epcot) but thought the grandkids would get a kick out of it. -

kirby- A little late, but glad Lil Joe is home. I’m guessing it was a happy reunion all around. How is your daughters friend doing?
He is doing better. Starting to move a little and is moving more but he has a long road ahead. As soon as his sodium counts stabilize he is going to be moved to a rehab center in Dallas. He's currently at a hospital in Fort Worth.

What a cute chef!!!

This seemed like the perfect place to park this:

For the record looking carefully at the photo…..grannygrrl needs a new bra…
Just saying.
:rotfl2:Good one!!! I would love to stop wearing a bra. Have considered wearing a camisole instead but I hate to layer, just makes me hot but I'm starting to consider it more.

Happy Anniversary to all who are celebrating!

Lil Joe is so happy to be home. The kids and I went to the grocery store this afternoon. It wasn't too bad, they stuck closer to me than they have in the past. On the way home, Lil Joe out of the blue told me that he was glad to be home, he had stayed too long with his dad.

Had dinner last night with my birthday group. We went to Samee's Pizzaghetti. The food there is really good. It was so good to see everyone. We haven't met in a year and a half.

We took our neighbor out to dinner at Super Shack tonight. He is batching it while his wife is taking care of the grandkids at one of their son's houses.

Good morning all. Hopefully this is the last day of the heatwave for now. Going to be 98 and excessive heat and humidity. Then cooler temps for the weekend,,I could use a day or 2 of winter weather temps right about now.

Going to be going grocery shopping later with stepdaughter. Her oldest daughter is going to stay with Mr L while we are gone. He says hes fine alone, but no way. If an emergency happened, he wouldn't be able to do anything. Sure glad the ac works well in her car,,only hope that Walmart has turned the ac down so its cool in there.

Mr L is still asleep, but considering he was up till at least 2:15 this morning, I hope he sleeps at least another hour or 2. I fed the cats and am going to lay back down. No home care visits today..too much yesterday and we were both wiped last nite, hopefully they can space themselves out better for tomorrow.

Have a nice morning,,stay cool!

Guess I am the only one awake this morning? lol! Yikes..its barely 11 and we are already sitting at 90. Small switch in plans. Older granddaughter had to babysit from 9 am till 8 pm, so the younger one (13) is coming to stay with Granddad while we go shopping. She's excited to see him..wonder why..we have only seen her once since Christmas 2019 and that was this past Fathers day!

I'm up, just not at the computer this morning. Was catching up on some tv shows, while putting together DH's meds. Was going to walk this morning, but I opened the sliding door, went on the porch, took a breath and noped right back on into the apartment. They are doing a prescribed burn a little ways from us, and it's a little smoky out. I started coughing as soon as I stepped outside. So, I'm doing stretches and some pilates and sit ups today.

Dh had labs this am, so he brought me home chicken minis from Chik-Fil-A. I love those suckers.

Not much new here. We decided to order lunch; Tijuana Flats, since it's throwback Thursday. I'm having a blackened chicken bowl, with rice, black beans, sour cream, cheese, pico, and cilantro. Tonight will be just salad.

Y'all have a good day!

Here I am! :)

I just spent a frustrating half an hour trying to get Pavilions (Von's/Safeway in other parts of the country) to understand a sudden tech issue my account is having :P As I have shared with some of you, a couple weeks ago, I changed to a different email address. I did my diligence and told everyone and anyone who I still keep in touch with via email. I keep a separate email address for non person email such as store offers (Pavilions for example). That was not fun in general to change over. Lol, don't ever change your email address! I thought finally all was taken care of. I have been pretty much receiving email from everyone I should be.

I received overnight (found earlier today) email from Pavilions announcing a new loyalty program. Among other things, it indicated a free item each month and a free birthday treat (when you add your birthday) I logged into my account and lo and behold discovered it is showing an email address for me I have not had in 5 years! :P It was not letting me change it. Yet neither the chat rep or phone agent could tell me why, despite that email showing suddenly, I am receiving email offers (and able to log in using) to my one and only email with them? Technology sometimes :P Minor thing just annoying.

Prayers for Lil Joe, Kirby to find a happy at home routine and never be placed in the situation he was again. That truly did break my heart.

Lynn, continued prayers to both you and Mr. L!

B&B, glad you enjoyed a treat!

Wishing all of you a great day :)

We did Canobie yesterday with Older DS, DDIL, and the 2 DGSs. It was a hot, hot day, 92 and humid. They directed us to park at the very back of the lot even though we got there fairly early and there were areas to be filled closer. So we walked at least a quarter of a mile to get to the entrance to the park. The kids were so excited to be back at Canobie and liked having Nana and Papa with them. However, I do not handle the heat well and felt a bit woozy a couple of times. I figured out that I needed to keep hydrated with Gatorade, water, and slush. That combo kept me going. I did have a few chicken tenders for lunch but heat makes me not want to eat. I rode the tilt a whirl with younger DGS who is 3 and loved the wilder rides. Our car really spun around alot so he had a great time. Older DGS was supposed to go on with Papa but he decided not to after watching it so they got some popcorn. Then Papa took him on the cars. Older DGS likes the tamer rides. We were there for about 5 1/2 hours. Even our DS said the heat got to him. He said we are not going to Disney in August next year so we are going for November 2022 . No August heat for him. LOL! We then walked the long walk back to the car and blasted the AC all the way home where we promptly collapsed in the living room. I threw a frozen pizza into the oven for supper. But it was a fun day in spite of the heat. Today it is hotter and we are staying in. We both went to our offices this morning but are now working from home for the rest of the day.

Happy Thursday.

:banana:Issue finally resolved with Pavilions. Just spoke with the nicest phone agent :)

:hug:Snowysmom, so glad you and your grandkids had fun yesterday. I'm sorry about the heat :( I'm temperature sensitive, too. I do remember very well the one time in the heat of summer as a camp counselor I went with a group of young kids to a water park. The kids had fun which was what mattered. I really thought I'd be sick on the bus ride home, too much in the heat! I finally ate some crackers that a kind fellow counselor had and felt better. Not a fun experience or one I care to repeat! Get some cool rest today, my friend :)

I've been up, but just busy - my routine is all off today.

It's hot here as well. I did go out very early to "walk' the cat and do a little more raking where the guys trimmed the bushes the other day, but I don't plan on a lot of outdoor time.

I've crossed a few things off my list, but still have to put away laundry. DH has a Lodge thing tonight, so I'm looking forward to not cooking.

^ I can just picture it, @Snowysmom! I remember going there when I was little with family, and with my friends as a teen, where we’d drive up at night and people leaving the park would give us their tickets! But my favorite memory from there was when our twins were about 2 1/2, on our first trip with them there. They went on that little kayak ride where the boats go in about two inches of water in a circle under a teepee. DS looked so perplexed (there was no danger at all, we were right there and they were the only ones on the ride) we could not stop laughing! Then the antique cars, same thing! I think it was the beginning of both of my kids’ absolute love of rides! And it was really the start of all the fun we had with our kids when they were growing up. 💞 Great place. I also agree, I cannot do hot sun anymore, either. If I showed you pictures of me from Epcot in June, you would see an absolute LOBSTER! :rotfl2:

Quiet day before the storm of weekend work. 🤕 Someone recommended a movie to watch, I might just snuggle up with a blanket (AC is on, but scorching outside!) and veg out to that. All the things going on in the world right now are making my head spin a bit. I think we all have to try to be good to ourselves as we can. Things in the hospital have been crazy.

DD is going away with her bf’s family this weekend, and I think DH and DS are getting a new (to them) boat. They have an old one but it hasn’t been running. Worked on Mom’s estate a bit this week. Keep getting bills from the lawyer so I have to keep moving with that. Yesterday we decided to have Manwiches for supper (remember those?) but they were all out of it at the grocery store. So I made my own, and they were good! I just sautéed some chopped onion, pepper and garlic in oil, then added the hamburger, and when browned and drained, I added Open Pit BBQ sauce that I had on hand. I couldn’t have told the difference. The night before that (not sure if I mentioned it) we had ham steaks with vegetables from the garden - grilled garlic zucchini and caprese salad w cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and balsamic, and some fresh ears of corn. Tonight, I’m not sure. Maybe leftovers, or maybe Chinese stir fry over white rice from my favorite place. Will see how I feel later.

So glad I have my Toto, this week especially (with the rescue issues). He has been such a good boy. Had a lot of walks by the water, and pool time. And grooming, which isn’t fun for him, but he deals pretty well.

Lol could easily miss him!

Oh, and almost forgot, saw this in a store, and of course thought of you all! ❤

Now and Then

50 First Dates

:love:pluto: Love the pic of Toto in the pool!

Someone recommended a movie to watch,

The Full Monty
Kinky Boots

Ok- those were already on my mind because I've been thinking of re-watching them myself!

I would love to stop wearing a bra

Perhaps TMI, but I had breast reduction several years ago. A Whole New Wardrobe World!

Good morning all. Hopefully this is the last day of the heatwave for now. Going to be 98 and excessive heat and humidity. Then cooler temps for the weekend,,I could use a day or 2 of winter weather temps right about now.

It's really very soupy outside today, isn't it? We have stuff that needs to be done outside, and it feels odd to be inside on a nice, sunny day. But I think I've talked my husband into NOT overdoing it outside at home after working all day here. We are at 98 here if the thermometer is to be believed. No idea what the 'feels like' temp they so often go on about is...at a certain point it's just hot and it doesn't much matter what it feels like! Damn hot is damn hot.
I think we may enjoy a cold hot tub soak though.

Quiet day before the storm of weekend work

I know it, we have a jam packed weekend ahead of us, or so it's looking like. A fair bit of it weather and kid related, we want to head up to Lancaster Saturday but can't unless youngest happens to be coming home so he can let the pups out for us...eldest headed to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. Ah to be young!

Dinner yesterday was hoagies from the beer store, cause we are classy like that. This evening will be fish over a spinach salad. Maybe a bit of rice.

Humor: Clue It's my favorite silly movie.

Action: obv the Marvel flicks, but for a non-superhero rush, I really like the new Star Trek movies. I hate Star Trek, but the new ones are amazing.

Adventure: Jungle Cruise! My favorite ride is now an awesome punny movie.

Romance-ish: The Princess Bride; It Happened One Night (I love this oldie); and I know it's odd, but I really like the John Hughes 80s teen movies: Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, etc.

Comedy: Wedding Crashers; Date Night

How is your DS doing?

Stomach-wise, fine. He's ramped back up to eating normally, and is down to just the acid med and a multivitamin for now.

Poor kid had a swollen lower eyelid this morning, though. (He's prone to getting a blocked tear duck or something there, probably from getting dust in it at work. - It's happened a couple of times.) So he stopped at the Minute Clinic and got a cream for it, but I'm sure he'd like to be done with medical stuff for a while!

I also love the Toto picture, Pea. What a great memory! Prayers you do enjoy a good movie and relaxing weekend, my friend. I love the ducky!

I remember Now and Then, PollyannaMom! I haven't seen that in years. Extra hug, my friend on your DS and prayers for him continuing!

Hug, Easyas. I so need new bras one day post pandemic! I have no idea of size. I can guess...I tried from Amazon a "shelf Cami" (had never heard of that before but it looked interesting and it was awful. Not like a regular Cami with some support at all. Young-en's do have a ton of extra energy, don't they? I hope you are able to getaway. Regardless, keep cool. For me with this time of life change going on, I'm running warmer at times now. Switch from being freezing so much of the earlier year.

Good suggestions, B&B :)

These days I mostly watch Hallmark. Some oldies but goodies I've enjoyed are: Miracle on 34th Street and Prancer Returns. (I know they are Christmas themed but they're cute). I also really liked a smaller movie (possibly on Hallmark long ago) called Miracle of the Cards. It was about a young boy in England (I think) who had Cancer. His family's faith plus receiving an outpouring of love and extra prayers through a ton of cards helped him to choose to live. He was fine, btw :) I'll have to put my movie thinking cap on for some other suggestions :) I am enjoying reading all of yours! Keep them coming, friends.

He said we are not going to Disney in August next year so we are going for November 2022 .
We're planning to go Thanksgiving week 2022!

The Princess Bride
That is one movie that I have never got into and have not watched it all the way through.

Took the kids to Ham Orchards for one last peach/strawberry swirl ice cream cone and some peaches before they close Saturday for the year. You should have seen Lou Lou's face, I wished I had taken a picture. There is ice cream everywhere! Picked up some peaches, a cherry and an apple fried pie, a couple of peach cobblers, some chicken salad I thought I would try and two jars of peach salsa.

When I was a young teen, Kirby, I loved Princess Bride! I thought (especially the beginning when he was clean-shaven and appeared younger) Cary Elwes was incredibly handsome! As I got older, I realized it really is quite violent and graphic in parts (not for me) plus has that one scene with Billy Crystal and his wife, where their speech pattern and in general their quirks makes them not too bright or strange and that is just wrong. I know! Dirty Dancing! A bit racy and I am not not sure whether I'd still enjoy it so as I did when younger, but I could watch that over and over at one time, as well! God Bless Lou Lou! Hooray she enjoyed her ice cream!

We are looking at the week before Thanksgiving, after Jersey week. DH and I are going the week before Thanksgiving this year so we will scout it out for crowds and report back to older DS. He wants to know what to expect.

@Pea-n-Me Love the picture of Toto. If I were going to get another dog it would be another terrier. I just love them. I hope your rescue plans work out soon.

@apirateslifeforme So sorry about your friend's daughter.

Man oh man is it :sunny:outside... 101 degrees and it feels like 106 according to the Weather Channel. And Walmart was crowded and hot..temp in there was 87..there is no need for a store that size to be that warm. Fix the ac! It took me about an hour and 20 minutes to shop. We were out of a lot of things, as I have only bought what I needed over the last month, and mostly for the cats, lol. They did have some Friskies on the shelf..not a lot, but enough for me to pick up 40 cans to add to my cellar stash. They had litter too. Stepdaughter went to PetSmart while was there looking for supplies for their bearded dragon and gekko. Then we stopped at Subway and got subs for everyone for dinner. Hubby has been asking for one of the new steak ones since he saw the commercial 1000x during the Olympics. He said it was okay, but not all it was cracked up to be..I had my usual tuna. I had a b1g1 free coupon,,,we each ate only half of it so have another meal.

Granddaughter totally spoiled the cats while I was gone. They were all in her lap,,she combed and brushed and petted them. Told hubby all about her new gekko, about how she was looking forward to school, and showed him some videos on her phone. They kept each other entertained, and I really appreciated her staying with him so I could get out.

I finally scanned and put everything away, got the laundry out of the dryer, put my reusable bags back in the car, and fed all the cats. Now I am about to collapse for an hour while he takes a nap. Then it's exercise and walk to the kitchen time for him. He needs to get the wheelchair by the wink and pull himself up..its strenghtening his legs and his arms,,but that left arm still hurts. Don't know if we will make the ortho appt next Wed or not. He still can't navigate the steps or get in the car yet. We'll see what PT can do tomorrow and Monday before I change the appt. All they are going to do is xray it again anyhow..and since it still hurts, we know it's not fully healed yet.

Stay cool everyone..the end of the heat wave is at least in sight..and ours isn't a soupy, muggy heat..it's a bone dry heat,,even the wind that is blowing is hot@!
