DH is a weather bug. He follows it online.

Today we were as high as 97. Right now it is 91 “but feels like 100”.

He just pulled it up for Bay Lake (aka WDW). There it is 91 “but feels like 113”! YUCK!!

but here in oregon salem, washing a dog crate for a new dog on sunday, 93, feels like 100...i have to take spatula to move the air in front of me as I go down to the cool enveloping shade of the old maple tree in front of the barn.....for the first time....green leaves are falling off the tree.

Christmas-y again but I enjoyed the very first Santa Clause. Sequels, I can do without pretty much.

Hello everyone.

We had a wonderful day at the beach yesterday. It was hot but we had the umbrella up for shade and there was a nice breeze. The ocean was very calm and I went in a couple time to cool off and get wet. WE had packed a lunch and I had chili defrosted for dinner when we got home.

Today did laundry, paid bills, that sort of thing. We went to the mall in the morning to go to the Xfinity store. When DS was here this weekend he said we had an old cable box and needed a new one. So we got one and found out that DVR was included in our service so got a cable box with DVR. And it had voice remote. Spent the afternoon trying to figure out how to use it. Stopped at the local CFA for lunch, they are closing next week for 8-10 weeks for renovation and to make another drive through lane. Also went to Bath and Body Works at the mall for hand soaps.

Dinner was chicken on the Forman grill and corn on the cob.

my SIL has gone off the rails regarding COVID and masks and vaccines.

So hard to be around family members who have such different views.

I watched Fantasy Island the other night. I used to always watch the original. It was dark at times, just like the old one. I enjoyed it.

I used to love watching movies, but I have not much patience for them now. I watch the first 15 minutes then just usually want to skip to the last 15 to see how it wraps up. Or I “cheat” and Look it up online so I know what’s going on so I don’t really have to pay attention. I am not really sure what that says about me…

Our temps finally came down tonight. My kids thought it was almost chilly this evening. We now just need some rain and all would be well in the weather department.

Good morning all..one last 96 degree day today, then a cool down and maybe rain. Maybe by Sunday I can go mow the parts of the grass that are still green and growing, the rest is a lost cause.

@Breezy_Carol you are going to be spoiled by having a DVR, even if its just to FF through commercials,,lol. I couldn't live without our Tivo anymore!

I taped the new Fantasy Island but haven't had time to watch it yet.

Hubby was awake till after 2 again,,which means neither of us got decent sleep. I told him he is going back to sleep now and better sleep for at least 2 hours. Noone called from OT, PT, or nurse yet to set up todays schedule, so I told hubby to decide what times HE wants them to come , so he doesn't get tired out from the revolving door we had on Tuesday.

I have a headache right now,,went out to feed the cats and it's so warm and sticky it's hard to breath out there.

I heard on the news this AM that yesterday Sicily had recorded a temp of 120, and if it is verified it will officially be the hottest day on record in Europe.

We had a wonderful day at the beach yesterday.

My BIL & SIL were down in there yesterday - kept sending us pictures as we were stuck in the office!

Good idea, putting him in charge of his appt.'s may make him feel like he is accomplishing more and in charge of himself vs. being told what to do.

Whew it was like walking into a wall of heat this AM when I opened the door! It was by far the worst morning of this week of high heat. Dogs didn't want much to do with being outside, and they are usually all about a long patrol & lollygag in the in the morning. I think - if it's not storming - we may take them down to the creek to swim this afternoon.

Good luck. I still apparently don't use mine "correctly". - Every once in a while I'll push buttons, and it will give me a message on the screen to "just say (this) instead" - but when I do, nothing happens.

Yikes!!

It's 78 here, at just after 8am, so I'm sure it's going to be hot - but not that hot!

August is not my favorite month at all. I go to bed roasting - we crank the air to get it cool enough to sleep - but it seems to have a problem shutting off in the middle of the night, so I wake up freezing!

Good Morning. The 3 H's here today - hazy, hot and humid. Typical August summer weather.

I have been busy with grandkids, food distribution and am fighting a health issue that has me really down. I'll go back later and reread everything for comments. The health issue of course had me google and you should NEVER google. I have had nightmares of amputation, death, it being a severe health thing. It probably is minor. I had a blister on my foot, or that is what we thought. It has been 6 weeks and still isn't improving. The podiatrist is sending me to a different specialist because he thinks I may have a small, leaky blood vessel. Evidently my husband paid more attention than I did and it isn't that bad. I googled, I am having nightmares. I am trying to stay off the foot as much as I can for the next week or so, keeping it elevated and absolutely NO sneakers as they seem to irritate it. I just want it to get better and I am really nervous.

While down the shore I did stop in at this cute little Victorian lighthouse that I love. They had a really pretty flower in the gardens and was hoping to find out what kind it was. I did and am going through pics to post a few from my trip so it will be included. I asked about the Lighthouse Challenge and New Jersey is having it again this year so my granddaughters and I will make a day trip in October and drive the Jersey coast in search of lighthouses. I am looking forward to spending some time with just the 2 of them. I love my grandkids, all 8 of them -9 if you include LJ, but I only have the 2 granddaughters and I like to spend time with them alone. They get lost in the shuffle sometimes.

Now that I have been such a downer I am going back to picture organizing, again. Seeing the pics makes me feel good.

Yes it is. I absolutely love those gardens and the sea walk. The lighthouse is so cute and I try to stop and see it when I get the chance. Not always easy with the grandkids though.

DVR is indeed a wonderful invention! Just remember with Hallmark movies especially to add on 5 extra minutes to the end of a movie so it does not get cut off! So glad you had a fun beach trip, Carol🏖

A sea stroll and lighthouse visit sound lovely right about now and refreshing as well!

Its 93 here and feels like 101 according to the weather channel. OT was 10 min late..she left about 20 min ago..PT is not almost 25 min late, which means he is going to run into the nurses visit. OT made it Tues/Thurs next week,,and he is going to tell PT to do Mon and Wed or Mon and Fri..nurse will only be here once next week as far as we know.

Edited to add. PT Matt just called and asked if he could come at 2 instead,,he has a patient who has an appt at 2 and asked if could see him first..hubby said it was fine..so just waiting for the nurse now (another Matt, lol)

Even the outside cats are hiding in the shade. I put cold water out for them 2x already this morning (in the shade) and the water is warm already so going to change it.

I agree that a stroll at the ocean or to a lighthouse would be heaven to me right now!

The movie someone recommended to me was Miracles from Heaven. I never got a chance to watch it, though! Maybe next week. I appreciate all of your recommendations, though! A few were my favorites, too. I do love movies, but I’m not much of a TV person. I used to love seeing movies on the big screen. Sad it’t been so long since that’s happened. I have some tried and true favorites that I tend to watch over and over when I do watch movies at home. A League of Their Own; Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility; Star Trek (someone mentioned that); My Cousin Vinne; Almost Famous; The Guardian; Mulan, are among my favorites. I’m sure there are many more that I can’t think of right now.

@Pea-n-Me..I caught that in your post when you said someone recommended you a movie, which is why I didn't recommend any. But I see how others could just just misread it. I have no suggestions as I am no longer a big movie person..lol
