Have to leave in 10 minutes for my doctor appointment. I'm having a lot of drainage and sometimes it feels like a summer cold and other times I'm dry as bone. I'm surrounded by cat and dog hair and use the swiffer constantly but I think having 3 cats in the house is part of the problem.

I think you would enjoy hardwood flooring. My old house had it when I arrived but had it covered by carpet in the living room and bedrooms. I quickly snatched it out of there.
There is carpet in all 3 of the bedrooms, dining room, and living room. We have several cats, and I agree with you on the hair.
Eventually the whole ground floor - 2 bedrooms, living room, dining and kitchen are hardwood. So much easier to keep clean. Bathroom is a tile floor.
Debating what type floor we want in the bathroom during remodel. We still have enough of the flooring left from the kitchen, but I'm not sure it's waterproof enough to use in there. Have more research to do on that one. I know I don't want ceramic tiles for sure. If one of us falls, we could seriously hurt ourselves. I had ceramic tiles in my kitchen in MA, and I hated trying to keep the grouting clean.
Upstairs is still carpeted as is the stairs. The upstairs are getting stripped out soon. The carpet on the stairs is good as it sort of may cushion a fall - but the hair is a problem, so still thinking that.

Basement is tiled but I hate the color. I want to do it over but it's so filled with junk!

Anyway, I use the swiffer dry floor duster (from the commercial) and its very quick to get cat hair fluffs - I have a Persian and a long haired orange cat plus a short haired orange and white cat. So they drop a lot of hair. The Yorkie does his share also. I also use the wet swiffer in the kitchen on the engineered hardwood in there. I have to make sure it gets dry after wiping with the wet swiffer, so I keep a lot of rags around. So far so good.
Engineered hard wood just installed in kitchen. I read the instructions on it, and still use the wet jet I have, (sparingly with the spray )but run over it with a dry cloth on the other swiffer. So far so good.
The other rooms I spot clean daily. Cats, you know. I used to do an on my knees job but can't do it anymore, so its swiffer and dry. Not recommending this as what works for me may ruin your floor. I should mention I will rinse the swiffer from the kitchen to use in the other rooms so it's mostly just wet with water.
I hear you on spot cleaning with cats. Thanks for the suggestion of using the same swiffer from drying the kitchen to use on other rooms if we have it put in.

I am finding it a stress reliever.
That's good, anything anyone can do to diffuse excess stress upon their shoulders is helpful.

I think you would enjoy hardwood flooring.

I agree. In our previous house we ripped up the carpet and put flooring down. When we built our current home I had the entire home done in wood floor. Upstairs, downstairs. Except for when we finished the basement, I put down berber there since it made the area feel 'warmer' if that makes sense. It's so much nicer and easier to keep clean (in my opinion that is). And it's helped my asthma and allergies a lot.

Well good day to you all. I'm in a bit of a quandary, I need something to wear to my sons wedding & the subsequent meal after.... the issue is it is a courthouse wedding, with a meal at a steakhouse after. Mid-afternoon, so more casual than the usual Mother of the Groom attire. I do not know what the Mother of the Bride is wearing, although I did ask. I don't think she knows either. I don't want to be under dressed, but I also don't want to be over dressed compared to the Brides mother. I have a hunter green dress, it's sleeveless but I have a nice thin, simple but nice black sweater I could pair with it. I also order a suit (skirt & jacket) in a black, white & muted yellow (marigold) plaid. I'm not in love with it but we'll see. Mostly I want to be comfortable! It's 2 weeks from today, they only just decided the date just before Christmas. My husband needs a new sports coat, too. Ugh, I guess we better go shopping soon.

I think I'm going to empty out my car and take it up for a mini detail tomorrow morning. It sorely needs it. I need to make an appt. to have it properly detailed, too.

Dinner this evening will either be meatball sandwiches or make-your-own pizza. Something easy and simple.
I'll be on the road this afternoon, but should be home by 5:30 or so.

Big :grouphug:Judique! and Good afternoon with love to everyone,

Dad's appointment went well earlier, and the sun is out right now, too :) He will be headed soon to Ralph's so that tomorrow morning he just needs to do laundry. I so pray for the day I will be able to safely help him with errands. I know God willing in His perfect time that will happen.

I did watch a little of A Christmas Melody and it looked familiar. I didn't get into too much but honestly also didn't give it much of a opportunity. I'll check it out some other time.

Wishing all of you a good afternoon. I'll check back later.

Sounds nice as a wedding, easyas! I think they’re smart to do it that way - simple, easy and inexpensive. I hope that is the case for my kids some day. I would say to wear something fairly casual, but nice. Something you’ll enjoy seeing in pictures for years to come. (Though overall I’m not the best at giving clothing advice. :lmao: )

I would like to redo our floors here some day, hopefully in the next couple of years. Two in college at the same time deflated our budget for a while, now costs of everything have risen so steeply. We have a lot to do. Honestly I’d really like to think about moving into something smaller and newer so that we’re not spending a ton of money updating here. We’ll have to see.

DH and I wound up going out for a bite to eat last night after taking the dogs out in the cold rain. They needed exercise, especially the big one (who was supposed to be 8  ). They have a big yard but they like to explore other places, too. Anyway, I got a burger and DH got a fish sandwich. Both were good. Leftovers tonight to use some up. I have one more shift and then I’m on vacation. Looking forward to just chilling out and maybe getting some projects started around the house. Weather is not nice for going outside right now. Three months of that, ugh.

I hope everyone has a nice start of their weekend! 🐥

Hug, Pea, clothing is definitely not my area of interest too much or expertise, especially when it comes to dressing up! I admit to not being a fan of needing to do that. For church I would just always wear dressier pants and a blouse. You are wise to consider long term options before investing in costly new flooring in your current home. Much prayers as I can imagine that wouldn't be an easy decision. Know we are all here and care

Good afternoon.

I think I missed a day or two.

Wednesday night we picked up Jack's sister, went to dinner in a diner, then went to Longwood Gardens. She hadn't been to the Christmas display in many years and really enjoyed going. It was our fourth time this year. Definitely got our money's worth out of the membership.

Yesterday we did some chores then went to the Apple Store and Target at the mall, followed by CFA for one last peppermint milkshake, then grocery shopping.

This morning I went to yoga and that's all. We are working on our Hawaii trip, bit by bit. Have all three hotels booked and just booked the flight to Kona this morning. Still need flight from Hilo to Oahu. Then later Oahu home. And rental cars.

We leave for our cruise in less than 2 weeks and that is pretty well planned. Driving to Miami and have hotels for the way down booked. Only two ports on the 5 night cruise are Key West, where we have a food tour booked, and Labadee Haiti which will be a beach day.

We did order full face snorkel masks and hope they arrive before we go. Also ordered Air Tags to put in our luggage and hope they arrive.

I am a sucker for facebook ads. I saw one for a cute dress for Tessa so bought it for her birthday.

WHAT? That is nuts, its not as if your medical needs changed the day you qualified for Medicare.
I actually qualified back in 2018. I was covered once a year until this year. Same doctor but now he is part of a larger group practice. It wasn't a big enough bill to make it worth a fight.

Dad did get his money back from Best Buy and was also able to get the Asus from Target.
That is good to hear.

watching reruns of Dr. Who & Mash
We have watched a lot of MASH.

Thought I would share a couple more pics from the holidays.
Thank you for sharing.

It happened in our little city yesterday.
What a great story.

I paid off my Disney cruise for May.
:cool1: Sounds fun!

I have a hunter green dress, it's sleeveless but I have a nice thin, simple but nice black sweater I could pair with it.
I think that sounds like a good option.

Guess I should box up some of the decorations I gathered on the dining room table.

I'm smiling thinking of your courthouse wedding. Older DD first wedding was the complete package and cost a bunch of money. 200 guests, designer dresses, the whole mess. Fast forward and she was divorcing after about 8 years.

Eventually got together with the father of my granddaughters. Bought a house, moved in together.

Two days before Xmas I got a call. Do I want to go to their wedding? When? In an hour at the courthouse. Younger DD and I headed for the courthouse, no time to worry about outfits. We made it as there were a bunch of people getting married.

Some were dressed in traditional bridal gown, etc, with attendants and the whole show. Others were simple but nice.

Then there were my DD and Sil. Jeans and sweatshirts. Just the four of us. Nice ceremony. Dinner on me later on.

Just finished having the fancy wedding for son and Dil in 2021. It was beautiful as was my DD's first wedding.

But the courthouse wedding was a LOT less stressful!

Enjoy the day!

Good afternoon everyone. Another dreary day here with showers off and on.

I took the Christmas decorations down today. That's always a sad chore especially when it's so dreary outside. Then I had to pick up Mikey from school as they had state testing and were going virtual in the afternoon. We talked about the trip he will get next year when he graduates and he is leaning towards a cruise. He likes Disney but I like the idea of broadening his horizons so that he sees more of the world. Then he told me some news that I swear made my BP rise dramatically. His great grandmother (NOT my mom) sent them a text yesterday telling them never to contact her again as she wants nothing to do with them. I know that my son in laws so called parents were behind it. They are such low lifes. I am trying to be kind. The great grandmother is a sweetheart but easily manipulated by her son.

I would move heaven and earth to keep those kids, all of my grandkids, in my life. I did take Crystal out for a shopping trip, and we got nothing I wanted although I got a candle and Jim a Rose Bowl T-shirt. He is a HUGE Penn State Fan and the one he has been wearing is from 1995. He needed a new one. After we shopped, I treated to ice cream at Friendly's, and we talked about nothing and everything. She is very hurt by the text from her GG and can't understand why she would send it and then she said her father's parents sent it and then she was close to tears again, just hurting. She said as far as she is concerned, they are no longer her grandparents and will only refer to them by their first names from this point forward. I cannot fathom how a so-called grandparent can be that cruel to their grandkids and then act like they miss their grandkids so much. This has been going on for almost 7 years. All I can do is be there for them and support them, always. We did talk about our Disney trip and the clothes she wants to get so that cheered her up.

Edited to add I just saw the post about the upcoming Courthouse wedding. My son got married in church with tuxes and gowns. They had the reception in their backyard and my son changed into a football Jersey. It was interesting, the entertainment was Beer Pong and skeleton Bride and Groom Decor. My oldest daughter got married in church and the reception was at the Olive Garden, They changed from the tux and gown to a dress and Golf shirt for him.
My youngest had a Courthouse Wedding and I was invited because they needed a witness. My grandson played video games and my husband looked at pictures on the wall. At least I did get pictures for them. There were couples dressed in formal wear and gowns as well as jeans and T-Shirts. After her wedding she went home and changed into scrubs because she had nursing school that night. They didn't exchange rings because she wanted a good vacuum cleaner instead. For their first anniversary they got matching tattoos with the date in them I wore dress slacks and a nice top for all 3 weddings. I will say my kids are all unique and march to their own drum.

Hope you all are having a great day.

Wearing scubs to work is both a blessing and a curse. Most of my other clothes are pretty casual. I don’t relish dressing up too much. I will if I have to, but it’s not my forte.

That's just crazy. Makes me think there's an ulterior motive. How old is the great grandmother?

The great grandmother just turned 80. She's very gullible and her son feeds her a load of bull hockey. Think of an expletive that will fit. Crystal called the great grandmother after I dropped her off and just called me sobbing that her GG started screaming at her, wants nothing to do with the grandkids and they are ungrateful brats like their father. I don't know if the woman is losing her mind or what. I know my daughter is livid and can't console Crystal right now because she has work until midnight. I am livid because my grandkids are so hurt by this. I wish Disney were tomorrow instead of 5 1/2 months. I feel so helpless because I can't make this better for them but I am there for them. I just don't get it.

:grouphug:Taz and how awful! But how beyond extra blessed those kiddos are to have loving you in their lives! Prayers for great grandma's heart to turn.

Lol, Pea, that is a good point! Casual was also a preschool director/teacher perk too.

Have a good night's rest, dear friends. Sweet Dreams.

Good morning everyone.
I need to get moving, been sitting here for the last 45 minutes lingering over my coffee and surfing the news sites.
I need to go and clean out my car of the all the crap in there, then head up to the car wash for a mini detail. Then stop at vets for a refill of one of the dogs meds. Is should stop and pick up some milk, too. No other plans for the day. I might tackle my huge basket of ironing this afternoon. Or maybe I'll tackle a new book instead!
Have a good day -

Having my coffee and fretting about DS - he's having one of those really hard weeks where everything just seems to go wrong at the same time. ☹️ (And I'm having one of those weeks where I really wish he lived closer, or that I'd done x or y differently for him, or...)

And to top it off, the cats' bloodwork came back from their vet appointment the other day, and one's kidney numbers weren't great. The vet thinks it's just age-related and wants to try her on low phosphorus food, which I've put in an order for. But in the mean time, I keep worrying that she's drinking too much, or sleeping too much, or...

Anyway, prayers, good vibes...whatever your thing is, I'd appreciate them!

@PollyannaMom Sending prayers and good thoughts to you. It is hard when our kids are struggling a bit and we so want to be with them. I hope things get better for your DS. Add in furbabies with issues and it makes it really tough. I hope the food helps your kitty.

@tazdev3225 So sorry your grandkids have to deal with their great grandmother and her son. That is so hurtful for them.

It is cold here, 31 and a bit of snow on the ground. I walked already trying to avoid any slippery places. I cleaned the sinks and the kitchen counters. I feel like I am ready for the real estate agent. I am very anxious as I keep wondering if I should just stay here and tough it out. It is the path of least resistance but I know it isn't right. I want my grandkids to come visit me and have a place to play right outside. I want a place where I can soothe my heart and soul and see birds and squirrels outside my door. But, I am still emotional from the holidays so my thought process is not the best. I don't want to end up having to stay with Kenny for months. I would really like to go from one place to the next. I can't wait until I can be comfortable somewhere and not have to think about moving again and maybe work on getting to the next step. I do not want to have to make any more major decisions. I just want to have to decide what flavor coffee to have in the morning.

I am going to Jeff's house today to see everyone. I hope to play with some of the grandkid's new toys. Tomorrow I go to Kenny's to watch the kids for a couple of hours while he attends a work event.

Have a good day.

Good morning all--bright sunshine, but a high of 38 later.

@PollyannaMom --Prayers for your son, and for your furbaby

@Snowysmom I think you already know you can't continue to live where you aren't happy. I hope the walk through with the real estate agent today goes well. Will be thinking of you

I don't know what it is, I just can't get out of the funk I've been in all week, no matter what I do. Today I am going to dig out some of my Disney park cd's and blast them on the stereo while I clean. Maybe that will help. First I have to strip and remake the bed. I want to hang the clean sheets on the clothesline after they come out of the washer. I want that crisp fresh smell the air gives them.

I was up writing and messaging back and forth with my friend until almost 3 am, so I will be in bed early tonight. I thought I would feel worse after sleeping less all week, being engrossed in writing, but I am wide awake by 7 every morning, and make it through the day without a nap, lol

Have a great morning everyone
