QSDP to Reg. DP Timing Issue?

Staying at Pop for FD and we're booked with the QSDP. We're hoping to upgrade to the reg. DP and were wondering if that had to be upgraded when we originally booked or if we'll be able to add it on once we're sure? (We're heading down 9/2.)

I called Disney with a question about upgrading to the DDP and the CM told me that it has to be added at least 36 hours before the start of your package.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that any changes to your dining plan must be make 3 days before you check-in.

Are you sure it's worth the upgrade? DD17 and I wanted 2 TS meals that would cost about $65 each meal. That's not including tip since tip will be the same whether OOP or DDP. We are staying 6 nights so it would be about $120 plus whatever taxes. So we would just keep the QSDP and pay OOP for TS and keep the 2CS credits, 2 snacks per day plus the mug each plus we'd save the tip money.

That's a great way to look at it. If you upgrade you will end up spending the cost of upgrade, $120, plus tips which could be around $75.

We've gone back and forth on it, but I think we're doing the DDP. We're taking my niece (just turned 4) and we're looking at doing character meals for the most part... it gives her a chance to meet characters without us having to wait in lines for them. We'll be there 4 days and we want to do 3 character meals and Sci-Fi (which is a family tradition).

Does anyone know if we call to add it now if we pay the difference now or when we check in?

ADRs? This close to your trip, I would go on-line/call to see if you can get into the places you want before upgrading your DDP. ADRs for character meals are very difficult to come by during Free Dining and yu are very close!!

No, sorry you cannot do this. Sometimes they allow you to trade credits down, but never have allowed lesser values to trade up.

We do. We booked a couple still planning to pay out of pocket and then I discovered that we could still get pretty much everything we wanted and that's when I started thinking about switching over.
