Purse Wallet Stolen at Epcot

sure hate to hear this but it does take a while for if something is turned in to get to lost and found. absolutely am not putting blame on any one but sister and I had a close call when our Mother was with us as once as she was always forgettingher purse int he grocery cart at home and left her ourse in the scooter at dsiney and we ate and I had the room card so paid with that and when Mother looked for her purse was not there. went back to scooter and it was still sitting there onthe seat.. but sister and I decided right then OK we give into the ugly fanny pacs and so the story goes we still use them..just to be safe.. lanyards kinda scare me as lost my work ID off one once and so do not want to put cc or KTTW $$$ etc in one and mine cracked off so it is fanny pac belly for us.. sure hope you find your stuff that cannot be replaced..

In March 2010 I lost an expensive phone on Dumbo (but didn't know which ride at the time). We called and called and called my phone but nobody answered. We retraced our steps through the MK for a long time asking tons of CM's at every ride and attraction we were at. We had been on several rides before noticing it was lost. How did we find it? I was walking past Dumbo when I heard it ringing. It was in a CM's pocket. It sounded like my ringtone. But I called it a few more times just to be sure, and of course his pocket rang every time I called. He said it was going to be turned in as soon as someone came to relieve him, but he wasn't allowed to answer it to tell me it was found. I was like, "WHAT? We've been calling it for a few hours!" He said, "I know. I heard it ring EVERY TIME!" He said it in a tone that let us know all the ringing was really annoying him. And yet he was not allowed to answer it.

I understand WDW doesn't want their CM's on cell phones, but not even to help a guest find their phone?

I to use an ugly fanny pack at Disney, that way it is strapped to my ugly butt and I can not lose it and carry AP and room key and sometime 1 credit card if I want to use it somewhere else for a discount etc... my only problem now is remembering to take my AP out of the Fast Pass machine...did that once but it was still there at the kiosk... to be honest we have been super lucky after going there for 12 years 2X a year, only had great experiences.
As as for Saint Anthony, never had him not come to the rescue, it is amazing....unfortunately I find I need his help more and more lately as I get more forgetful.
Also I agree I think the purse was thrown in the trash right away after the money, etc is remove..I had a purse stolen at the beach once years ago and all they took was the cash(they worked as a team ,one watching you, One doing the deed, and threw the purse in the trash, so got back the inportant stuff, but the security/police at beach said that is what they do if they are professional, do not want to be caught with stuff with your name on them. of course that was years ago and now they are more cleaver .

Sorry, OP. that just stinks. Recently, I found a phone in the ladies bathroom at MCO. I immediately turned it into the lost and found, and hope the person got it back. I thought about leaving it there in case the person returned right away, but decided to turn it in before someone else could help themselves to it. Plus, the lost and found was right around the corner from the bathroom.

And I lost my phone locally and got that back. It was in my stroller and fell out when I folded it. I appreciate the person who turned it in and the workers.

Okay here is the unfortunate update to my stolen wallet.

They were using my phone to call Haiti. I didn't think much about my phone since I was at a conference. I suspended my phone on Tuesday but not before this person/people could call Haiti and run up my bill. One call was 26 minutes. Gannon at the Contemporary took me to the business center to file a police report and print it so I have a record.

I have given up getting anything back but I feel really violated. I have always turned everything in that I find. Its the right thing.

I am just annoyed at having to get things reissued and that I left it there in the first place.

I just feel like they know where I live and thats creepy. Hope they enjoyed my hard earned cash and gift cards and stealing my phone.

I don't want to let one bad apple spoil the bunch but I feel untrustful of everyone now!!! and I am a very very trusting person.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Still, most people are honest but many..and more than used to be...are not, no matter where they are. Tiny in comparison, but I had left my favorite DLR hat on a seat at Billy Hill..was back within minutes, but it was gone. The same trip, I had left a windbreaker thing in the room..distinctly remembered where and that DH had been piling the pillows on the chair where it was left. Called after arriving home and it was never turned it. I'm sorry, but I still think housekeeping at VGC took it. My friend and I were staying at DLH a couple weeks ago and found $62.00 laying on the carpet in our hallway. We took it to customer service and waited in a line to turn it in and the CM really didn't seem to care who we were and where we found it. No telling where that went. The best thing is to just be super careful with your belongings...sad but true.

I am sorry that this happened to you. Unfortunately there is a lot of "bad and dishonest" people out there. They even lurk on these boards but I won't get into that. I just know that if I found someone's belongings I would try everything possible to reunite the belongings to the owner. It is called pay it forward. And lo and behold, my son lost his wallet on a beach and it was returned to him, money and all. So lesson is be honest or it will bite you in the a$@@#@@#@. Anyway I hope you had a good time in light of the situation.

Yes, hold on to hope as other posters have said. My husband dropped his wallet outside our camper at Fort Wilderness campgrounds early in the morning prior to us leaving for Seaworld. We didn't notice until around lunch. My heart stopped because in that wallet was our some of our vacation cash, debit cards and credit cards - immediately I called and canceled our credit and debit cards. When we returned to our campsite, there was a note telling us to come to the front desk building - we went back up there and lo and behold they had my husband's wallet with everything in it (nothing missing). So you never can tell - there are good people out there and they seem to be all over at Disney.

On our family trip this March, I found a meal card while waiting outside of the RRC and I called and seen if there was a balance (to make sure someone wasnt just littering, it happens ) found out there was a balance and quickly handed it in. It is so sad when people take what doesn't belong to them like it is some kind of lottery.

I wear a crossbody Baggallini on our trip and I very very rarely remove it. It's kind of a hassle to situate it when I sit down for a meal, I just try to sit on the inside of the booth or furthest chair and that way I can swing it more toward my side and it's not right there in front of me LOL.

I am just so paranoid about losing it.....and someone less than honest finding it

it astounds us how many times we see handbags, cameras, shopping bags, etc left in unattended strollers at WDW a CM once told us that they are also constantly amazed at how often see guests who seem to believe only good ppl are allowed into WDW, and that "there are security cameras everywhere, anyway".
years ago, nothing was bolted down in the attractions or resorts, and there weren't sensors on any merchandise - now, every little piece of decor is solidly attached, one has to get a cm to see more expensive items, and just about everything has a sensor attached.
unfortuately, bigger crowds tend to attract more thieves.

of course, this was not referring directly to OP's loss. i still hope that your purse is recovered, perhaps without the cash, but the rest intact.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. Back in 2005, I accidentally left my purse on the train at WDW. I had just gotten off the Barnstormer, looked at my husband, and said I didn't have my purse. I carry a bag around, and keep my purse in it. I just realized I didn't have my purse. It was maybe 15 minutes later. I ran to a shop to get a CM, and my DH ran to the nearest train station.

The very next person on that train after me saw my purse, picked it up, and gave it to the conductor. The biggest regret I have is that I could never thank this person for their honesty. This person did the absolute right thing, but I never got to say thanks or offer a reward. Some people are genuinely good.

Oh, I was hoping for a happy outcome.

We also have the find my iphone apps and I put one on my foster daughter's android phone too, but I can't remember what its called right now. If you lose it, it will track it and if you can't find it, you can have it make a tone.

She went back to the restaurant and "pinged" the iPod in front of the manager. She showed him the results and asked for them to return the iPod. Their waitress was there and started making a fuss, complaining that they were "causing a problem" and should be asked to leave because "it's not like anyone stole it." My friend decided to call the police and file a report. She showed the responding officer the results of the "ping" and the manager continued to deny that it was in the building. I don't exactly know everything that happened but she said they were there for 2 hours, searching for the iPod. (I don't know if it was the police, the employees, my friend, or all of them that did the searching). She said that they even searched the waitress's purse but it wasn't there....She thinks that it is stashed in a ceiling tile or a toilet paper dispenser or something. The last I heard, she went back to check the public areas of the restaurant for herself...

I'm sorry, but I have so many problems with this "interesting story". I work in the service industry and if somebody went to my manager and basically accused me of stealing her child's toy two days in a row, I'd make a fuss too. The lowly, thieving waitress in this story probably makes enough a night to buy three iPod touches, and likely has an "it's not like anyone stole it" attitude, because she likely would never steal it, nor would her coworkers, and she's offended by the implication. The iPod probably dropped into some weird niche at the table or down in the cushions of the seats and that's why the ping is displaying the restaurant's location. If she came back with that attitude, the waitress probably would have been the first person in the place to help her find it.

I do have a question to the OP about the "debit card being a loss". I know many people on the budget board save by buying gift cards and loading them up and I wonder if that was the case in this loss? I've always thought that was kind of a good trick to save and budget but in light of this story, it occurs to me that it's also an easy way to risk losing all your vacation money in one distracted moment. How much did you lose in gift cards and pre-loaded debit cards?

To the OP.. I am soooo sorry this happened to you, I got my purse stolen on the weekend of the 18th of August, We were travelling with some friends to Carowinds for one night. We stopped at a rest stop to let the kids out to go to the restroom, my friend and I made the dumb decision to leave our bags in the van. I covered mine up with a blanket and put it towards the back of the van. We were gone maybe 4 minutes at the most. When we got back out to the car the driver's side window had been smashed and our purses along with my luggage (which was all the way in the back of the van next to another suitcase and a cooler) was taken. My overnight bag had my nook tablet along with my expensive croc flat iron. They did leave the nintendo ds', ipods and my phone which is a droid razr in the car. As soon as we saw that the things were gone I got on the phone with the bank, my husband got on the phone with another bank and my friend's husband got on the phone with 911. The bank said that my card had been used at the next exit my friends went down to look through trash cans and ask the clerk at the store but he said that no one had come in (this was at 9am on a Saturday) but that the gas pumps had video on them. I know that it was our stupidity for leaving the bags in the car in the first place but yes it does make you feel violated, especially because this person probably saw that we were travelling with children and it didn't really make a difference to them. My 10 year old was worried that they had our address and my picture and thought that it would be easy for one of them to come after me or even the fact that they knew that we were going to be out of town. It took a good few days after we got home to make he feel at ease. So O.P. I am sending big hugs your way

He advised us to use the guest relations phone to call WL. We did and they didn't have it. Called sprint and reported it lost, which gave us piece of mind and then continued with our day.
When we got back to our hotel, pop, they suggested we call both theme park lost and found and WL lost and found. Theme park lost and found had the right model phone but couldn't unlock it with the code we gave them...however they also wanted the phone number and told me that the phone number didn't match the SIM card. Not sure how they checked that. After we got home, we contactes sprint and were told our model of phone doesn't have a SIM card...I am confuses and irritated we should have just stopped by the lost and found I suppose...

I'm just curious, did you think of having someone call your cell when you were on the phone with lost and found to see if it rang?

My daughter is 28. When she was 8 months old she got a bear, who actually looked exactly like the 'snuggle' bear on commercials, but a darker color. Fast forward to 18 months old. We were at Disneyland and she lost Boo Boo bear. She sat him down on the table so she could go potty, my husband was sitting there, but watching a parade. We came out of the bathroom and Boo Boo was gone. We looked high and low, with my daughter becoming more hysterical by the minute. We went on with our trip and the stuffies we tried to use to replace Boo Boo just were not up to par.

We checked with lost and found several times a day and finally it was departure day. Imagine our surprise when we got home and Boo Boo Bear was in the mail two days later!!!! It turns out someones child had picked it up and carried it to the DL Hotel before the mom noticed he had it.

She turned it in, it went to lost and found and a sweet cast member sent it back to my daughter, with a card from Mickey Mouse and a note to Mom and Dad to explain what happened. She said she remembered my daughter and how heartbroken she was!! Needless to say, we could not thank her enough!! Peace was restored in our world!!

Since that moment, I have been a 'finder' of many items, including at DL and WDW. One time I found a wallet at DL. I think I was around 39 at the time. I looked inside, just to see if I could see anyone nearby who looked like the person on the DL. No such luck, but I noticed the wallet was VERY full and knew the person would be missing it for sure. We were walking toward Main Street, to turn the wallet in. Low and behold, while in line, who should we find, but the wallet owner.

His attitude was almost as if I had tried to steal his wallet. He opened it up, took out each item, took out the money and counted it, while snarling at me through the process. He looked up and had tears in his eyes. He said 'I can't begin to thank you. I never expected to see my wallet, let alone have it returned intact.' He then asked me if I wanted money for returning his wallet. Sheesh!! Anyway, happy endings do happen and I hope yours will end up happy also!!!!! Added prayers your way!!
