Purse Wallet Stolen at Epcot

Well, we tried calling it several times right after we realized it was gone and it went to voicemail. But we were told that if it was given to a driver he/she may have turned it off. Once it was reported lost to Sprint it wouldn't ring any more and callers get a message stating person is unavailable. So calling it at lost and found would have done me no good

Just a word on "pinging" your phone as these apps that can locate it for you. A couple of months our doorbell rings at 9am - young college kid telling me he lost his phone the day before and it was "showing" in my house - he showed it to me and sure enough it looked like the phone was in DD6's bed... Talking with him - sounds like he had it at midnight in a nearby park and went back to our neighbor's house afterwards. I assured him neither my 4 or 6 year old was at the park that late (neither were DH and I) and none of us had been out the door et that day (evidenced by our pj's). We did check our side yard in case someone stile it and threw it in our yard. Nope. Never heard if the phone turned up but I promise you - those ping/GPS tracking devices are not 100% accurate...

many of the pinging apps and even the phone companies tell you that it is within so many meters of the "ping"

I know! So funny to me that they really thought it was in my house (wanted to check my daughter's room) rather than the likely place - the house across the street where they were hanging out the night before...

I posted in a thread several months ago that I would never carry much cash with me in Disney... and I got flamed. The truth is that the place is a thief's dream. Pick pocketing is a breeze. Items left in strollers. Women leaving purse lay behind. People packed in looking at parade or fireworks ..... My cast member friend says that personal strollers getting stolen, especially expensive double strollers and fancy jog strollers happens much more than Diz folks want you to know about.

My husband found someone's iphone at the golf course several weeks ago and was able to soak all of the water out of it (it had just rained a few days prior) using rice and other than the back of it being shattered it still worked fine.

He then tried to locate the owner to tell them he found their phone and got it working but the phone had no service (apparently turned off when the owner lost it) and it was locked by a passcode.

So he called the golf course to see if anyone had reported losing an iphone and someone had so my husband gave his phone number and told them to have the owner call him and if they had the passcode to unlock the phone he would arrange to give them the phone.

So the guy called and had the passcode and set up a time and place to meet to get his phone back, but never showed. Again this was several weeks ago and we can't get a hold of this guy.

Who does that? I should also mention that when my husband told the guy about finding the phone and what he did to get it working again this guy acted like he could care less so I dunno, weird to me, but I when he decides he wants his phone back he can call.

I found a phone in DTD in California. I hit redial and explained to the person who answered where I found the phone and please let the person who lost it know I was leaving it at House of Blues. Most everyone I know has a phone so I figured someone with them had a phone. I also told the person who I left it with at House of Blues that I had contacted the way of the phone and they were on their way to pick it up.

So sorry to the OP. Hope it did not ruin your trip:goodvibes

We just got back from Disney and over the course of 7 days, we found....

A bag left on the monorail at the Magic Kingdom. We gave it to the conducter before the monorail left. As the monorail pulled out, we saw a very frantic lady running up the ramp.

Outside of CRT, in the courtyard, I found a wallet with identification, cards, and money ( if your initials are M. H..... you are welcome;) )I handed that one over to guest services.

Two phones found on Exhibition Everest, handed over once we got off.

and for our good deeds.....The hurricane missed us and we landed in EWR right after United Airlines System crashed:cheer2: Karma Baby!

I found a cell phone in the bathroom at the condos where we stayed in July at the beach. Someone left it in the stall on a shelf in the bathrooms near the pool. I immediately turned it in to the real estate office there. I can't imagine not turning in something I find. But, as others have pointed out, WDW is not immune to crime and I don't get those that think it's different than the real world. Thieves have families and go on vacation too. Some people feel no guilt over stealing and really think that it's "finders' keepers". I've heard people say that.

Unbelievable - you 'helped' her to lose custody and caused her to get fired from her job because she stole your purse? And you brag it up on here? Must be proud of yourself...sheesh.

I'm having a tendency to take the poster's side in this one. Evidently she was TEACHING the child to steal. Social Services, etc should definitely be involved at that point.

The most common place for a stolen handbag/wallet to turn up is in a trashcan in the nearest public restroom. Thieves will go into a stall to rifle through it in privacy and then will ditch what they do not want. I had my bag taken in the Superdome once and sure enough, found it in the nearest bathroom (minus all cash, of course.)

Disney sorts all of their trash! Maybe you could try calling the trash department or whatever that would be and see if they found it? I am sure your cash and usable cards are gone but you might get back your ID and any photos or person effects you had in there. Just a thought. So sorry you had to deal with this, it really stinks! :grouphug:

A friend and I went to a concert this weekend. She found an iPhone in a stall in the ladies room. Picked it up in a plastic bag she carries in her purse and gave it to an usher. We asked on the way out, and a manager had come looking for it.

That is completely disgusting that someone at Disney would steal your purse! We all pay a lot of money to go there and you would think that other travelers would be more respectful of one another's property! I really do not want to get flamed for this but just cannot help but speak my mind. The fact that they called Haiti leads you to believe they are foreigners. And usually at this time of year, there are so many foreign tour groups. They have no respect for anyone. I am not saying that Disney shouldn't allow them in the parks. But I am saying is that Disney should monitor their behavior better for reasons likes this. They just see a handbag and take it like they have a right to it. And that is how they behave throughout the entire park. My favorite is when they cut you on line and pretend not to understand English. If they are responsible for taking this woman's purse and they get caught, I am sure they would pretend not to know that is stealing.

Really wow just wow. I have no words except that you have no idea what you are talking about. Because they called Haiti means nothing. They could be nice white American born citizens that are in a theft ring. That sold the phone or sim card. Happens every where.

Oh and I saw the person who stole my wallet. White American male. So maybe Disney should do something to watch them.

There is no reason to attack me for stating my opinion. I have freedom of speech. I have been stolen from before as well. Right in front of my house while I slept. I live near an area of foreigners and alot of them are illegals. And my father was robbed with a gun put to his head and stomach and it wasn't by a white American! Nope it was by foreigners.

First freedom of speech is a right you have that prevents the govt from limiting you ability to speak out. It has nothing to do with Disney, disboards or me thinking what you wrote is bigoted, stupid and just plain wrong. In fact under your rationale my speech is also protected.
Second if you live in an area so riddled in crime you should consider moving. Third te foreigners at Disney you are so concerned about probably have more money in the bank than you. It is a very expensive trip for them to just fly into the us never mind several weeks at Disney.
Are you bigoted against all foreigners or just the nonwhite ones? Are English and Irish ok?

This thread is about a woman who just had her purse stolen an her trip ruined. Let's not forget that. I hope you find it and you and your family are in my prayers.
