Puggy Update...

I had posted on the boards a while ago about my female black pug Zelda. I had thought she might be pregnant.

Well we went to the vet 2 weeks ago, but it was still too early to tell anything.. The dr said come back in 2 weeks.

Well we went back today, and the vet started feeling around again..... Well she felt 3 "somethings" This could still be a false pregnancy though. So we are just going to treat it as a normal birth and wait and see.

We will be seeing a due date of just before Thanksgiving. And we decided we will keep the pups....What are we thinking..

We just had our third litter of puppies this year and are lucky to have a good show dog vet who specializes in reproductive work. At this age, you should be able to ultrasound the dog and see if she is pregnant. Later, it is common to take an xray to count the number of puppies.

Not all vets are good at the reproductive side of the business. and we missed the cycle of one female dog because the vet blew the hormone tests.

How neat, Dax. I would probably have to keep the pups too. Pugs don't have large litters do they? Only one or two pups at a time?

I am having a terrible time finding a reputable breeder to buy a pug puppy from. My husband promised our 11 yo DD she could have one for her 12th birthday in May. I have contacted the breeders in my state (Georgia) listed with the Pug Dog Club of America and the AKC. Do you have any advice on where to get a pug? I didn't realize it would be so hard to find a pug puppy.
