one way to treat them kindly is respecting their core beliefs.
we must forget our differences and unite to have a peaceful world.
if we don't we're both gonna be in for it.
Treat them kindly so they can be peaceful or they'll blow us up?! Do you realize how hilarious that is?
And do you realize we did nothing to provoke them other than not subscribe to their core beliefs?

No, treat Muslims kindly because that is what Jesus told us to do, you know that whole "do unto others" thing. And what did others do that have provoked extremist Christians?AKLRULZ said:ROTF!Treat them kindly so they can be peaceful or they'll blow us up?! Do you realize how hilarious that is?

To be clear, the Torah specifically tells Hebrews to kill people..Large groups of people in fact...Last I knew Christans used our Torah, which they call the Old Testament.. The G-d of the Torah and OT is the same G-d as the one in the NT. To say there holy book has instances to tell people to kill in the name of G-d and deny the parts of ours that does the exact same thing is clearly biased. Christian have killed in the name of G-d..Jews have killed in the name of G-d. Muslims have killed in the name of G-d.Saxsoon said:I think the bringing up the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition do not match well with what we are talking at hand. I don't remember Jesus telling me to kill Jews or the Muslims, or anyone else for that matter. Actually he is strictly against conversion by the sword or battle for that matter. When he was about to be captured in the Garden of Gethsemane, was it Peter? who had gone and cut a soldier's ear off to protect Jesus, and he said those who live by the sword shall die by it. The events mentioned above are from misguided zeal that yes every religion has. But to say the Bible told me to do it, is not true, unless I skipped over something.

edited to add....This issue of the inquisition and the crusades was brought up in response to this
You can speak next time a fundamentalist conservative cuts someones head off or blows up a group of innocent people for no reason other then to promote his hateful religion
Now nowhere in that question did he say we could only bring up examples if said persons religious book specifically ordered them to do it
The Crusades and Inquisition most assuredly happened to promote a religion.
The same could be said of passages in the Quaran..People are people, and they interprit things the way the wish to interpret them.ElizK said:The Old Testament does not tell Hebrews to kill people. It TOLD a certain generation of Israelites to kill certain people. That cannot be applied to our generation.

Ok..I get your point...I should have used told and not tells...You are right.ElizK said:Absolutely! I was only talking about the present tense you used in your post.![]()

The point I am trying to make, perhaps badly is that it is not religion itself that is inherently bad(in most cases)...The problem is that religions are made up of people, and unfortunately, people can be bad,v ery very bad and it's important to focus on the bad acts that happen and the people who commit them, and not on painting entire religions as evil because people are screwed up..If we paint every religion that did/does bad things as evil, well, there won't be many left. That includes my own.

I don't defend their actions. But we can't play the innocent victim, either.
