The same could be said of passages in the Quaran..People are people,and they interprit things the way the wish to interpret them.

While that is true, the fact remains that there are hundreds of madrasas through out the world, the United States included, that orders the followers to jihad. That preach terrorism as Allah's will. That use the verses in the Koran in a very literal sense to incite its readers to killing. That is irrefutable. WE may not be engaged in a religious war but I have no doubts that the radical Islamists clearly are.

Well, now that you put it that way, I now understand the past violence against us. Why didn't you tell me this before??? This changes everything and I regret my previous staments about Islam and the sorry state of affairs in the Middle East. I didn't realize that I had a small hand in all of the problems that are going on over there. Just goes to show you learn something new everyday. The more I hear about Americans, the more I don't like them. Damn them! They seem to be the cause of all the worlds problems!

As I said before, this changes everything on how I will deal with this issue. I promise here and now if my flight is hijacked, not to get too upset. I will stand up and prevent the fellow passengers from storming the cockpit with tales of past American aggressions and show how we as a nation, are at fault. I will calm my frightened wife and children and tell them that, we as Americans have brought this on ourselves and to accept our fate as the will of Allah.

Wow. What an enormous amount of words you put into my mouth.

You're right, of course. History is crap. Why bother studying it. It would never make for a more informed and better decision, like getting to the root of unrest in addition to stopping those already active. Nothing before today ever happened. Thank you for showing me that being ignorant of history is the way to go.
