Problems with dropping first or last day of UPH?

Has anyone ever had a problem with dropping the first or last day off their UPH when checking in?

We are leaving bright and early on our last morning and do not need admission media for that day..therefore we want to drop it.

It hasn't been a problem for us in the past..but was curious if anyone has had any problems. We are staying at BCV if that makes any difference.

Its been my experience that the hotels will sell you whatever UPH pass that you want. Don't even ask them about "can I drop the first / last day" - just go up to the counter and say "I want a 4 day Unlimited Park Hopper pass" (or whatever you want) and you should be able to get it no problem.

When we checked in last year with the in-laws, the WL front dest CM told us she really wasn't suppose to do it. She did acknowledge many do it, and she did it for my in-laws without a problem. She was just pointing out there could be a problem at somepoint in the future.

We had no problem at OKW last week. We dropped first day and were asked if we needed to drop last too (we didn't).

I didn't think that just asking for 3 or 4 day UPH worked since they were for specific days during our trip but maybe that was just an assumption on my part. Does that mean we could have used our pass the first night, even though we "dropped" it, and not use it on the last day instead? Never thought to do that.

NOt at DVC but my colleague at work booked a stay at the GF thru her travel agent with UPH even though they arrived at like 7pm after all but Epcot were closed the desk refused to drop the first day of the UPH for them since it was done thru the travel agent...unfortunately my colleague did not check with me BEFORE booking anything as she thought her travel agent would know best how to handle things...which as we all know depends on the agent....

I don't recall any DVC members ever reporting a problem with dropping first and/or last day on UPH tickets when they were staying at a DVC resort. Doubt you'll have a problem, either.

When you buy UPH tickets in advance, you are never allowed to drop days - any days at all. If you are, it is very much an exception. I've not read or heard of any exceptions ever being made in that instance, though.

Hopefully, your colleague will ask you for some advice before she books again!

Ticket Prices

DVC members get a 10% discount on the gate price of UPH (Ultimate Park Hopper) tickets. UPH tickets were formerly known as Length of Stay passes.

DVC members staying on points are not eligible to purchase UPH tickets in advance (and thus get an advance purchase discount). However, the 10% discount on gate prices plus the ability to drop arrival and/or departure days is a better deal for us anyway.

Sometimes, UPH tickets are the best value and many times they are not. It depends on how you plan to spend your time. Everyone needs to "do the math" based on their own touring plan.
