Pro Choice or Not

What is your sex and your stance on abortion?

  • I am a woman and I would like to keep abortion legal

  • I am a woman and I would like abortions to be made illegal

OK here is a possible scenario:

Man wants child

Woman doesn't, wants an abortion simply as a form of birth control

Have woman act as a "surrogate" for lack of a better word

Man raises child by himself

Another:

Man doesn't want child

Woman does

Woman gives birth and raises child on her own

What if she doesn't want to be a surrogate? What if the man failed to use birth control and the woman gets pregnant? What are his responsibilities then?

I'm not going to waste my time going through a thread to feed a troll, especially one that keeps diverting the topic at hand, avoiding showing their proof on their assertions.

I cannot believe you just caused Chobie a troll...LOL

Who said anything about forcing a woman into having an abortion? Discussing =/= forcing. Discussing == having a say/opinion on that matter at hand.

And as to who the 'tiebreaker' is, I'm still waiting for that 'discussion'. As I said, I have no answer. I haven't been in that situation. But I do know people, who, in the end, came to a 'middle ground', so to say. After discussing it, and coming to a standstill, they both came, male and female, with research/statistics, and discussed it, again. Neither really had a 'deciding factor'. They both came to terms with a compromise.

See, I view it a different way. It was not a compromise. The reviewed the research/statistics and discussed the situation. After reviewing the material and discussing it again with the other party, she made the decision on what she was comfortable with. It may have been a mutual decision, however, it was her and only her decision to compromise with her body. The male could plead his case with the research, but it was ultimately up to the female to decide to "compromise.

What if the woman is incapable of having the final say?

Next of kin and if that doesn't work, then the courts get involved.
Remember Terri Schiavo?

I love the choice of word "surrogate" as if that changes the fact that what he is suggesting is forcing a medical procedure on a woman and having the final say.

Well according to Justice Kennedy and the majority of the SCOUS, women can't make these decisions by themselves in consultation with their doctors, so big strong men who know what's good for them need to make those decision for them.:scared:

There was a decision based solely on emotion. The feeling that women are too stupid to make decisions about their bodies.

Even when I do as you ask, you fail to contribute to the discussion and put words in my mouth that I have not uttered.

I see, so when you said "have women be a surrogate" what you meant to say was "give women the choice to be a surrogate?"

If that was what you meant, that is not putting words in your mouth. But if it makes you feel better to keep saying that --go for it.

In fact why not go ahead and call me dense again. Now that adds to the discussion.:thumbsup2

I gotta say that for the most part everyone on this thread has done a good job of keeping a level head and not making personal attacks. Which is almost unheard of on this topic.

MANY of you, naturally, refer to Roe Vs. Wade in your arguements...
Did you know that "Jane Roe" is actually a strong advocate for the Pro-life movement now?
<<A Christian since her conversion in 1995, Roe's real name is Norma McCorvey, and her life is dedicated to her ministry called "Roe No More."

In an exclusive interview with WorldNetDaily last week, McCorvey shared her life story and explained how she was "used" by pro-abortion attorneys in their quest to legalize the procedure. >>

I was aware of this as all of the pro-choicers I know are. It's about as irrellevent as the fact that I used to be pro-life

I'm quite sure not all pro-choicers know this actually.
Can I ask why you changed your stance on abortion?

I am pretty sure that everyone I know also is aware of this - on both sides of the issue. But why exactly should it matter?

That isn't what I was saying at all and you know it. You are not willing to discuss anything unless they agree with you.

You asked for options, I gave you a couple. I stated that I used the word surrogate for the lack of a better word.

So I ask you what have you written that has added to the discussion?

I hate to say it, Declansdad, but you're right. No matter what you say, no matter the context you mean it in, its' twisted, wrapped around a tree, and broke into pieces, as per to fit the quoter.

Even when you do clarify (and quite clearly, at that), it's still taken to the tracks, run over by a train, and then thrown into the ocean, floating around, like a message in a bottle, too wet to understand once found...

I've learned some pretty harsh lessons in my life..It would take a long time to go through them..I used to see things in black and white and now I see them in shades of gray. I always said I would never have an abortion..I even carried a child I was advised to abort. I choose to keep that child bu trealized I can't imagine condemning a women for choosing differently.

I don't think abortion is a good thing, but I think it's a neccessary thing... I also did a bit of research on fetal development and all that I learned pretty much confirmed my belief that in early pregnancy a futus/embyro has no ability to think or to feel anything..I'm not saying it's not valuable at that point..It is..It's a potential life and should not be aborted lightly, but at that point , my priority is the living ,breathing function human being that is the mother.

My religious beliefs also play a part in why I'm pro choice

I think pretty much everyone is aware of it. They aren't talking about the person, they are talking about the case and the decision.
