Princess Power - September 2016 Weight Loss and Lifestyle Change Challenge

Not feeling very woohoo right now. Thought the cold was getting better, but now I am actually feeling far worse. Arg!! And I am supposed to train for my 6k in 2.5 weeks. Haven't run that distance since May!

But let me try:

It is warm enough to wear my favourite summer work dress to work one last time before fall starts on Friday (according to weather forecast)!
The scale moved down from yesterdays horrible number!
Had a lovely lunch break with colleagues in a nice garden restaurant (enjoying summer before fall starts on Friday)!
Because I did not eat my packaged lunch, I know have a packaged dinner all ready to be eaten when I get home, no cooking necessary!

WOOHOO WEDNESDAY! I love this day. It makes me stop and be grateful for the things that I've done!

I've recently adopted a "to-do" list with 3 categories: cleaning, errands, and personal. Each day I have to accomplish one thing from each category. This keeps me from feeling overwhelmed and not doing anything. Plus, with my mental state lately it's beneficial for me to feel like I've accomplished something instead of using my overwhelmed feeling as an excuse not to do anything. So for the past two days I've been able to check off at least one thing from each category which has helped me to feel so accomplished!

I also have changed things up and switched to MFP again. WW was making me feel too restricted and it was making me want to "rebel" and eat food that was pretty much really difficult to eat with WW. So far I've been really successful with MFP. I weighed myself this morning. So woohoo for that!

So today after you tell us your woohoos also tell us what your 3 wishes would be – but remember there are things Genie can’t grant you – so choose wisely.

1. To only need 4-5 hours of sleep and feel fully energized
2. To have the debt that I've accrued during my divorce magically paid off!
3. To be able to go to Disney multiple times a year

Love this-- such a wonderful idea!!!

Woohoos!
I've been under the weather recently, and am starting to feel like I'm finally kicking this cold.
And no plans this weekend, so I am ready to rest up and clean my house!

Wishes:
1- A magic sleep bubble that lets me get 9 quiet hours of sleep each night.
2- A perpetually clean house
3- Calorie-free desserts!

Hmm, well both my kids were up multiple times last night, I slept horribly, and one is now home from school sick, with a bad cold, so I am not feeling very woohoo right now ;) I'll have to work on it through the day and see what I can find.

Wishes:
1- To be able to get more restful sleep. 6-7 hours is usually good for me, but lately the quality has been poor, so I am feeling tired all the time.
2- A house cleaner.
3- To never have another running injury!

I am not feeling so whoohoo either. I feel frustrated at the last few kg. I also went jeans shopping, and couldn't find any. Love jeans shopping in US but american jeans are crazy expensive around here! Local brands rarely seem to cater for girls with curves.

On the plus side, I can honestly say I have been doing my best to stay on track so I am happy with that. Also super excited about holiday next month

I was hoping for a weight loss woohoo this week but I am actually up 2 pounds this morning, dangnabit. Not unexpected, going from the restriction of juice only to real food. And I know WW works for me, so the weight will come off, it's just that I've set a fairly aggressive pre-vacation goal.

In lieu of weight, woohoo that I go back for phase two of my tattooing on Sunday. I'm definitely getting my little bee down at the base of my thumb and at least one of the birds that will be flying up my arm. I also want a sacred heart with w.i.p.written in it and might do that instead of the other birds this time. W.i.p. Is short for work in progress, quite popular in crafting circles but also refers to unending personal growth and change.

Even tho my weight is higher, I did go over to Old Navy the other day and picked up a couple tunic/dresses in XL that fit and will work for vacation.

And then there's the up coming vacation. The Texas part has been booked for so long and being a tour I had to do nothing, so it hardly feels real. WDW is also so easy, plus the gal I'm rooming with already had the room. I usually only do a few TS ADR's and only have a few FP+ that I care about so there's been very little planning there either. Easy Peasy... Except for the clothing part :).

Ok three wishes:

A healthy vibrant body at a weight where I am strong, active and can wear cute clothes.

A live in Nanny who will cook and clean for me.

A lovely boyfriend to get out and hike, camp, travel and explore with.

My Woo-Hoo for today -- Work has been very stressful and really making me mad lately. Yesterday, I din't not want to be at work and really just wanted to cry. It was just a rough day on Monday that I carried over to Tuesday. I didn't want to talk to any one here so I just dug into work instead. I got so much done. I was able to finish work that my co-worker should have been keeping up with but hasn't. My boss sent me a cute picture of a dog saying "Who is Awesome, You are Awesome"! It was nice to hear that and put a smile on my face when I was really not having it yesterday. Today I have finished the rest of the work that was behind so we are currently caught up for the first time all summer.

Another woohoo is my daughter got her cast off. They still don't see a break but it is still sticking out weirdly. We are now taping it to the ring finger in hopes that this will work. The orthopedic was very perplexed by it. We are thinking that it might be a muscle spasms. Crossing my finger that this works. But the stinky gross cast is off.

My wishes I had to look up the rules. I forgot them and it is one of my favorite movies. So here are my wishes:

1. For my husband to make enough where I can be a stay at home mom and we can still do everything we do now if not more. (I can stay home now but then vacations and all the extras would be cut)
2. For my kids to always be happy and healthy
3. To be able to go back to eating what I wanted when I wanted without gaining a pound

1. DH and DS to be healthy and happy with work and school
2. To manage to keep balance while on holiday and return to real life without bad post holiday blues or sugar withdraw symptoms and no extra pounds
3. I am fed up, SOOOO FED up having to lose weight and I just want to see the last few kg gone before 1st of January so no weight loss goals 2017

I totally forgot my biggest woohoo: I am back here on this thread!! I just read through everyone's post and realized how much I missed all of you giving me motivation! And I was just feeling very peckish and reading here kept me from going to the kitchen. I think I will try to go to bed early and get a lot of sleep to help with getting rid of the cold. And it will also keep me from eating!

My woo hoo's for the week are that I did my 10 mile training run on Saturday and it really wasn't that terrible! Also, my son is having tons of fun playing soccer for his first time and did great and enjoyed his first real game on Saturday. And my daughter was very happy with the way her audition went this weekend as well. When the kids are happy, I'm happy!

3 wishes:
For my family to remain healthy, safe and happy.
For unlimited funding to go on disney trips and other trips.
For enough time to get all my workouts in and the kids homework done and the house cleaned and the food cooked...

but I feel like I'm starting to see the big picture now much better than before. I feel like the "sprint" of weight loss is over and now I'm more in it for the "long run". I don't feel the pressure to get under a certain amount by a specific time like I did... feels much healthier mentally.

2. I'm loving my new car! I usually get a little buyers remorse after big purchases, but I haven't felt that with this. I actually enjoy driving to work! It's also my first car with all the bells and whistles, and I love technology, so it's been fun figuring out all the things it can do.

It is great to hear that the pressure is easing about your weight loss - and that you are now focusing on balance and healthy life long term. New cars are so much fun!

For Dairy Queen to invent a zero calorie Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard.

Hope you feel better soon - the flu/cold that went through here a couple of months ago lingered was too long - I have only in the last week started feel really back to usual self. So I hope its not similar to that for you.

I've recently adopted a "to-do" list with 3 categories: cleaning, errands, and personal. Each day I have to accomplish one thing from each category

I also really like this. Its kind of like @pjlla's set the timer for 10 minutes. Glad its working for you.

I also have changed things up and switched to MFP again. WW was making me feel too restricted and it was making me want to "rebel" and eat food that was pretty much really difficult to eat with WW. So far I've been really successful with MFP. I weighed myself this morning. So woohoo for that!

Glad to see you are listening to yourself and changed things up :D

To only need 4-5 hours of sleep and feel fully energized
2. To have the debt that I've accrued during my divorce magically paid off!
3. To be able to go to Disney multiple times a year

Ugh debt - I have way too much of that too - but just from me and partly Disneyland! So I want to add your #2 & #3 to my wish list :rotfl:

I've been under the weather recently, and am starting to feel like I'm finally kicking this cold.

Hope you feel better soon too - sometimes that weekends are so good and just what you need.

A perpetually clean house

oh - why didn't I think of this - yes this so much :thumbsup2

Hmm, well both my kids were up multiple times last night, I slept horribly, and one is now home from school sick, with a bad cold, so I am not feeling very woohoo right now ;) I'll have to work on it through the day and see what I can find.

More sickness - hope your kids recover quickly and it doesn't take you down as well!

Jeans shopping will do it every time - when they are good they are so good - but they can make you feel absolutely horrible if you can't find that right pair!

W.i.p. Is short for work in progress, quite popular in crafting circles but also refers to unending personal growth and change.

I was wondering what WIP was .... love it :thumbsup2

Ah yes - the necessary evil sometimes - but the extras definitely make life a little more enjoyable!

My boss sent me a cute picture of a dog saying "Who is Awesome, You are Awesome"! It was nice to hear that and put a smile on my face when I was really not having it yesterday.

Nice to hear your boss recognised all your hard work - I think I remember you saying previously that he/she (I can't remember) was not always that great with this - if only they could manage the other staff member to actually do the work in the first place.

Good for you with the run. I do love watching my kids play sport - so glad to hear your kids are enjoying their activities at the moment. Love your wishes too.

So some of us have hit a bit of a hump at the moment with our woohoos! Don't give up - I will send pixiedust:

There were some fabulous wishes everyone - I hope Genie works his magic for all of them for you :D

My first woohoo is simply Woo-hoo it's Wednesday! I am half-way through my first 5 day week. Why is the 2nd week of school always the craziest? Faculty meeting, tutoring, dance classes started, Nutcracker Auditions, Open Houses (both mine & DD's). So Woo-hoo - everything except Open Houses has already been accomplished for the week.

As for progress, my weight has dropped a bit, I've maintained 10k+ steps every day, started logging my food, and am about to finish week 5 of my c25K program tomorrow.

Magic wishes...
1. A good night sleep.
2-3 I'm too tired to think of anything else...

It's great reading everyone's Woo-Hoos!

My Woo-Hoo is that I had to get some new denim capri pants because my 2 pairs were too big (good problem!). When I went shopping, I went down 2 sizes. This was the first time I'd gone clothes shopping since losing some weight, so I'm not sure if they run big or if I've truly gone down 2 sizes, but I'll take it for now! I was in a 22 and I got 18s and they fit!

My 3 wishes:

1. Happy and successful family. Kids are going through such transitions - 2 girls off at school and DS is starting high school. He has always been big in sports and still loves them, but he isn't very aggressive and that isn't a good trait when trying to make HS teams. He has the ability, but he's going to have to come out of his shell and I know he'll be sad if he gets cut from any of the teams he tries out for. (Sorry that ended up so long).

2. Someone to keep my house clean.

3. To enjoy exercise and healthy eating all the time!

My woohoo is also a boohoo this Wednesday. I finally got DS1's haircut for the first time today. He really needed it cut but I kept putting it off because it means he isn't a baby anymore :( (in my mind anyways) He looks so handsome now and like a little man.

My wishes would be
1. That I would be a fast runner
2. Free Vacations for life
3. For my kids to always be happy with who they are

I tried 17 pairs of jeans yesterday! Like I felt happier with 5kg on top current weight few months ago, than today after my traumatic jeans shopping experience! I feel so... horrible :(.

I need to look at my before after picture to remind myself how hard I worked and how well I did until now to motivate myself again

this is funny

Oh - I completely understand that!

17 - no wonder you were traumatised! And seriously funny post with the takeout! So that must be why I can't lose weight :rotfl:

Good Morning everyone :P

Okay we have learned that many of our much loved Princess stories are derived from much darker folk tales. But Sleeping Beauty may be one of the worst. The original version penned in 1636 by an Italian named Giambattista Basile – was very sinister involving sexual assault by a King, infidelity, it was not true loves kiss that woke Sleeping Beauty but giving birth to twins (in her sleep) and one of the babies sucking the flax (responsible for the sleep) from her finger, planned infanticide and murder by the King’s current wife when she found out – but it ended in her death instead. Not very Disney is it? The journey to the modern story began with alterations by French Author, Charles Perrault, followed by the Brothers Grimm. It was the Brothers Grimm version that saw the emergence of Maleficent and the name Briar Rose which our current Disney story is based. What a journey – can I say I am so glad for the Disney Version!

Let’s start with the obvious part of Sleeping Beauty – SLEEP! I know from recent posts this is something that many of struggle with. Not only can affect our weight loss journey it also related to overall health and wellbeing. Here is a link with some info – it has quite a lot in it but even when I skimmed over it – good info jumped out at me.

So just as those of us who are parents likely tried/or are still trying to use bedtime routines with our kids to make bedtime easier …. turns out us adults need a bedtime routine as well!

Klein-Levin-Syndrome-aka-Sleeping-Beauty-Disorder.jpg

QOTD: Do you every feel like you have slept as good as Princess Aurora? What is your typical sleep/bedtime routine?
Bonus Challenge: I know that many of us kind of already know some of the things we are doing that are affecting our sleep badly. Identify one thing you can change/improve and do it for every night for one week to see if it helps and let us know.

Quote of the Day

My woot moment was at the skate rink last night. I felt REALLY strong and surefooted, which is always the toughest part when getting back into the sport. Last winter I had the opportunity to go skiing and my legs were jelly after only a few runs. Fortunately, my BF didn't have as much slope experience so he took a class and I tagged along so I could just stand there with the group and rest!! Of course, the instructor made fun of my short skis (I can't STAND normal length snow skis - mine are about the length of a yardstick). But he was a nice guy and DID show me how to spin down the hill on them which was cool... So now I'm hoping I can keep up this pace so NEXT winter I can get back to blues and maybe a few black runs. (I'd never do those on regular skis but on short skis it's like hopping down the mountain - MUCH easier!!)

As for wishes... the only real wish I have is that my DD lives a long, happy, healthy life. If those three adjectives make for three wishes, there you go! If that happens then all is right with the world for me. :)

As for sleep I have NO problem in that department. I could hibernate without issue. On the weekend my cats harass me for breakfast since their still on a work day clock, and I climb right back into bed for another four hours. If anything, my biggest issue on the weekend is not setting a reasonable time to get up. Then mid afternoon I already feel like the day was taken from me! So I really have enjoyed forcing myself to get up for an early run in the cool morning and i hope to continue to do that!

Morning all! I'm back from the excitement, fun, and magic of San Diego and Disneyland! Brought a few extra pounds back with me, but I won't stress about it because every single calorie was delicious and worth it!

I'm at work now, but will pop on tonight or tomorrow to share a bit more and show off a few pictures! SO HARD to get up for a 4:30 am shift this morning and then get dressed for working at school..... post-vacation days stink! TTYL................P
