The Fairy Godmother gave Cinderella a makeover to go to the Ball. A good makeover can give you a confidence boost and help you feel special. Share with us a picture (or 2) of a time when you feel like the Fairy Godmother gave you a makeover (or you did it yourself lol) and you looked and felt fabulous – it can be recent or long, long ago (mine will be). I have 2 photos I am going to share. One is when I felt great about myself and the other not so much. There is about a 11 year span between the pics. On my wedding day I wasn't the lightest I have been but was still really small at 116 pounds. The second is this past Christmas when I was the heaviest. Heavier then I was pregnant with either of my kids. I am still heavier then when I was pregnant. Put I have lost about 10 pounds since Christmas.

Wedding Pic.jpg
This was my wedding almost 12 years ago. October 9th will be 12 years. This is not a great picture of my dress but it was a beaded lace from the top to the bottom. I was a princess on this day. I had my tierra and a horse and carriage.

Christmas Pic.jpg

This is from this past Christmas at my heaviest. I felt better then I looked on this day but seeing this picture when my dad posted it I knew I had to do something. I was 150 pounds here. In this picture is my dad and 2 of my youngest brothers.

I hope you all had a good weekend – today we are visited by … The Villains!

In every Princess story there is a Villain with their own agenda that inevitably creates problems our Princesses have to overcome. But … do you love a good villain? What can we learn from the Villains in the Princess’s lives? Sure they are ‘Evil’, narcissistic, arrogant, devious, even murderous. However, I think the Villains are very good at remaining focused on their goal, fighting the barriers in their way, never giving up, plotting, scheming, putting themselves first and using their powers for self-preservation (well until their ultimate demise haha). We are approaching the half way mark of the month this week – It’s time to let your inner villain out to help you achieve your goals!

QOTD: How good are you at being like a Disney Princess Villain when it comes to achieving your health goals?
What villainous traits do you need to put in place for the rest of the month to help you achieve your goal?
Bonus: Who is your favourite Disney Princess Villain?

Oh Boy! I am not a villain type of person. This is going to be hard. I am too much like a princess. Everything is always good. I will think about this and get back with my answer.

As for checking in for the month. I am 3/30 days with getting 10,000 steps. I am at 3%. I am so mad at myself for not getting my steps. For a month and a half I got my steps everyday and now for a month and a half I haven't. Ugh!!!!! It is a new week and I really don't have anything that should get in my way. No excuses this week. I will get all 7 days!

We are eating better right now or at least trying. Last night I made a chicken zucchini spaghetti. It was something new of use but it looked good. Well it wasn't. We are not huge zucchini fans and so got pizza for dinner. But we tried. We are having chicken salad tonight and another healthy meal later this week. and then just left overs.

I had a busy weekend and did not get to report in. I am at 25%, I got in 5 workouts so 100% for the week.

In a funny twist, one of my favorite "new me" pics has me running in a different version of the same shirt as @courtneybeth :) It was taken at Avengers half last year. I love it because that was my favorite half to date, I was the least injured and just truly enjoyed every minute.

I don't have many pictures of me as my old self, because I really avoided the camera. That is something that makes me sad, not because of the lack of the before and after but because it is when my kids were very young. I have tons of pictures of them, and with grandparents and each other, but very very few with me.

@piglet1979 I was soooo waiting for someone to post a pic of the wedding day!!! Thank you! You look just beautiful and your dress is gorgeous :D You're Prince Charming isn't bad either :rotfl:

I know what you mean about pictures showing us a reality we don't necessary feel - I have those moments way to regularly lately.

Okay this made me laugh out loud - I like zucchini - but I get what you mean about trying new things - it looking good - but nope, can't eat it. I have done that before spent time cooking a meal for us all only to throw it all in the bin! Good for you for trying - we don't know what we think of it till we do. Oh and you are not along in your frustration of yourself about walking - notice I am at a disappointing 0%.

I am generally not very villainous, but I do enjoy the villains:) My favorite is Maleficent. Sleeping Beauty was my favorite fairy tale as a girl, which is ironic, because I don't sleep much. But I always liked Maleficent as well. I really enjoy the more recent take on sleeping beauty with Angelina Jolie as well. I think I need to work hard on the delicate balance of my villain vs. princess side. I need to hold myself accountable and stay focused on my goals, but not be so hard on myself that I am a villain to myself. When I am too hard on myself I actually usually make things worse than when I strike a good balance.

I don't have the focus and determination of a villain, but I can be *****y and harsh which is why I've adopted the "be kind" mantra.

With this 4 month break in healthful eating and being completely off plan, I've clearly demonstrated that focus on the end goal can, shall we say, shift easily. I'd like to maintain a -2 pound per week average for the next month before I head out on vacation, and that is going to take laser focus.

I survived the three day cleanse... It was rough though. I was hungry and tired for all three days and had a stomach ache most of yesterday. But this morning I could see the difference in my face, much less puffy, and aside from tired I do feel better, so it was worth doing. Now to build on that and maintain clean on program eating.

Happy Monday everyone.

I got to make our first dining reservation this morning for our trip in March. We are going to stay near Disney Springs the night before we leave on the cruise - which also happens to be my birthday, and we ended up getting reservations to Bongos Cuban Cafe. Now we'll have to wait a few days until we can make our reservations for our park days after the cruise. I missed the planning part of a Disney vaca - love doing all of it. The trip is starting to feel real!!!

My 56 % report from yesterday is now a 44%. :( I have no will power when it comes to dinner at my parents and my mom makes Italian.

Loved reading the Club 33 report @courtneybeth - sounds awesome!

I don't really have one pic that wows me - pretty much every pic wows me at this point. I'm still used to seeing myself as 300+ lbs - it's been that way for almost 20 years, I'm not used to seeing me without all the excess baggage!

QOTD: How good are you at being like a Disney Princess Villain when it comes to achieving your health goals?

I've never been a villain fan. I've done a pretty good job sticking to the plan eating wise like a villain. Since I hit the goal of 100 lbs lost, I've dialed back a little bit to more of a maintain mode. For me, that means I eat the same during the week, but on the weekends, I might indulge just a tad (like last night). Exercise has been cut down too. I'm surprised that weight is still coming off at the rate it currently is. My original goal was to slowly get down under 200 lbs by the end of the year, but the weight is coming off quicker than I thought during this maintain mode, and the best part is I feel like my current habits are something I can stick with the rest of my life.

Report for the week -- 0%.....

Trying not to be hard on myself. I was literally home for 3 nights last week and had other things that had to get done. Coming in from Disney then an overnight weekend bachelorette party 2 hours away.... I am running on fumes and out of routine. This is my typical pattern. Routine goes to heck and so do I! The good news is even though I did "celebratory" eating and drinking this weekend and gained over the holiday, I am down to only 1 lb over how I started this month. Those other 3 Labor Day Lbs came off quick. Too bad I wasn't focused on lbs this week haha!

I have one that gets my anxiety going .... e.g. why is your heart racing? something must be wrong with you? what could be wrong with you? its probably a heart attack or you have a blood clot and it is blocking a vein, you could die

OMG this is literally my inner voice all the time now. Still waiting on a cardiologist referral and this is my constant inner voice. It's driving me crazy!!! And with my anxiety, all it takes is one small thing to get blown into a big thing and I just spiral down from there. So I completely understand the struggle!

@courtneybeth WOW WOW WOW! How amazing! Thank you for sharing the pictures and your story! 33 is off to a fantastic start!!!

QOTD Catch Up---

My fairy godmother picture: I'm another wedding day person. I felt like a bridal model all day Haha! DH and I more or less eloped to Ireland, and while the weather has a mind of its own, I wouldn't have wanted any other back drop. I was not at the "goal weight" I had set for myself, but I looked like myself and I am still thrilled at how they all turned out. This is the weight I would be happy to get back to. 15 lbs down--15 to go!

Villains: Shoot, when I really have a fire under my rear, I can be just as determined as any of them.... but man.... I am one of those people that focuses in on one thing and I can't find it for me right now. When we were vegan, I was so dedicated. It was an obsession of a sort. I don't think that was necessarily a healthy approach, but I wish I could redirect the passion I had for that into my regular lifestyle and diet. It comes in spurts, but for some reason I was able to ride that vegan obsession for months.

Ursula is my favorite for some reason. I love her song and her sass. Even as a child, that was the one villain I picked to pretend to be over the ingenue every time!

Halloween Time just started at Disneyland so of course the villains are running rampant at the parks! I love this time of year because things just get a little bit wicked :)

Do I need to belt out a song to talk about my health goals? Because that's one thing I always look forward to when I see a Disney Princess movie - the Villains number. It's very much a Bond villain scenario where-in they basically just sing you their plan. :rotfl: I'm tone deaf so I won't sing, but I think the determination and being so focused/narrowminded is where I find myself in similarity to a Disney villain.

So... I am a believer that Gaston is the hero of Beauty and the Beast and he's just trying to save his village, so he's not really a villain. (Belle, come on. You could have married a very wealthy entrepreneur who is well-liked in your town! You missed out!). So I will agree with @Lady Marie and say Ursula. She's really sassy in the way she handles things and can be a smiling cobra :P

This is fun! I think that a good villainous trait is to be focused and not worry about what other people think. A problem that I have is that I'm self-conscious ordering healthy food at a restaurant with others or packing healthy foods because I don't want to be the "fat" person that has to eat healthy while everyone else can eat whatever they want. So I do that too and then I feel bad about myself. My favorite villian? Probably Mother Gothel from Tangled. She's just funny!

_______

I had my first 10K this weekend and it went PERFECTLY! I'm seriously still really happy about that race and how well it went. I only stopped to walk to drink water at the two water stations, otherwise I ran the whole thing through which felt awesome! It was pretty great to run through the course and be like "this time last year I was so exhausted that I was having a hard time walking" or "at this spot I remember I had to stop and walk because it was a minor hill".

It's really interesting how much exercise really does help with mental health and depression. Yesterday after my run I felt so good (albeit pretty freaking tired) all day. So this week I'm going to focus on doing some type of exercise every day with the exception of Thursday because I can't fit in my schedule. While I'm exhausted and would love nothing more than to lay on the couch and veg all evening I know that I'll be happier if I do even a little bit of yoga or something.

And once again I say that I am back... I have caught up with the thread. So much lovely chatter that I missed. Feeling really bad about it!

Now, I need to get out for a little walk before tidying my place as my cleaner comes tomorrow (I am in the same camp as those that said that paying for someone to do it professionally is among the best money ever spent! And my current person is really great!).

Not sure about any villain that is good for me. Currently I am feeling that I can only muster the bad attributes of villains. I should finally be back into healthy eating and exercising mode since Michael left at the end of last week. But now I am sick!! Arg!!

Another healthy living action pic! You look great :-) - I think I probably also have gaps with very few pictures of me with my kids at different stages - partly because of hiding but also the reality of being a solo mum - there's just no-one there to snap those impromptu moments for you. I remember taking DD to Sydney for 3 days and showing my friend the pics when we got back and she was like - "are you even on this trip?" there was only one photo with me in it!

I am generally not very villainous, but I do enjoy the villains:) My favorite is Maleficent. Sleeping Beauty was my favorite fairy tale as a girl, which is ironic, because I don't sleep much. I was wondering how you survived the juice cleanse - I don't think I could do it. Okay now that the cleanse is over its time to use the best of your Princess and Villain traits to get you to your goal :-)

Woohoo - I love vacation planning!

the best part is I feel like my current habits are something I can stick with the rest of my life.

This is awesome and exactly what is needed to sustain over the long term.

Welcome back - we have missed you. Ugh getting sick - not good - hope it doesn't hang on too long and you feel better soon.

I am always happy when the villain is defeated but I do love a 'good' villain. I also like Mother Gothel or the Evil Queen from Snow White (but this is influenced by how she has been bought to life by Julia Roberts in Mirror Mirror and Regina in Once Upon A Time).

So I have been doing some thinking about my lack of what I consider REAL progress this year. I think I am mostly waiting too much for the magic to happen - I need to harness a few of the villains traits - single mindedness, scheming (planning) and devote myself to my goal a lot more. I am not a runner and don't aspire to be but I have to say I am just so impressed by the images of our runners this month and how excited you look in the act of and achieving your goals.

I've learned through this lifestyle change that you have to do what is best for you. Whether that's become a yoga expert, log calories on My Fitness Pal, or become a runner. You touch upon so many qualities that villains have that we can all learn from: you have to do it for you and not wait around. You'll get there soon once you figure it out. :)

Glad to see you back, I hope you aren't missing him too much. Long distance relationships can be hard

With less than 40 days to go I am in full WDW & US & IOA mode but I am happy with eating & workouts too. Did good 30 minutes lifting session in the gym & 15000 steps yesterday. I would like to cut down post dinner snacking but after lifting session I was really hungry last night.

My son said once that Malificent is like me, she has no parents. :/. It's sad but it just stuck with me for some reason

I am plenty of focused and determent but I find being kind to yourself is so important. Half way through the month, my inner fairy is more helpful. Right now anyway, I am sure there are moments I need good kick to get moving but now - slow, kind and happy is the way to go.

Have a healthy day all

So, I feel like I am off to a good start to get back into the swing of things! I stepped on the scale and got a crazy high number. 2.5 pounds higher than at the beginning of the month. I hope some of it is water weight due to the heat wave we have currently. But I entered it in all my weight tracking apps and did set new goals with today's weight as start weight. I also had a healthy breakfast and tracked this, so hopefully I am back into tracking my food. I am feeling better today, so hopefully tomorrow I will feel good enough to go for a run again! I have a race coming up on October 3rd and have not been training for it at all due to foot issues, travelling and now being sick. But it is only a 6k and I know that I can walk it if necessary.

Welcome back - we have missed you. Ugh getting sick - not good - hope it doesn't hang on too long and you feel better soon.

Thanks! It feels so good being back and I love all the princess questions you are putting up!! I felt really sorry for missing out!

Glad to see you back, I hope you aren't missing him too much. Long distance relationships can be hard

It is ok. Thursday and Friday were hard. But as much as I love him, I also love me-time. I can enjoy being on my own and now after a weekend of family festivities and getting over the stupid cold, I am really happy about being free to do whatever I want whenever I want! And I see him again soon enough! Yes, long distance can be hard, especially when bad things happen and you just want to hug your partner - or be hugged by him. But I still rather have him in my life long distance than not at all, so all is good! :goodvibes

Good morning Friends! - Today we are off to an exotic land - Agrabah.

There is some contention about the origins of the Aladdin story and what nationality Aladdin was. The story of Aladdin is commonly thought to be one of the tales told by a Scheherazade to a Sultan in 1001 Arabian Nights in order to prolong her life. Firstly apparently it wasn’t one of the original tales and was added to the 1001 Arabian Nights collection by French Translator, Antoine Galland, after hearing it from an Arabian Storyteller. Whilst the Disney version sees Aladdin set in the middle-east with an Arabian Aladdin – early stories indicate that Aladdin was Chinese and it was set in China! Princess Jasmine was created by Disney the original love interest for Aladdin was called Badroulbadour the daughter of a Chinese Emperor and was a divorcee – No magic carpet and apparently 2 Genies!!

Aladdin meets Princess Jasmine in the marketplace after she takes an apple with no way to pay for it. This got me thinking about where and how we shop, as Farmers Markets have begun to be quite popular for fresh produce.

QOTD: Where do you shop? Do you go to a weekend Farmers Market and soak up the atmosphere as much as the shopping? Or do you shop in a Supermarket or the local Fruit Shop/Green Grocer? (sorry, not entirely sure of the US terminology – here it’s a fruit shop)

Bonus Question: Which do you think has the best quality and value for money?

We have tiny little bit more! Can you please report back on Universal crowds, I still can't decide to book onsite hotel or not

So sorry I haven't been on sooner and I can't stay long now!! But I am still here! I will definitely report on Universal crowds - I have always stayed on site because I can't stand lines when I know I could've book a room where we could skip them all. I would say it will be a busier time due to the Columbus holiday while we are there. Generally business picks up for them because of Halloween Horror Nights. Not sure when you're going, but the week after Thanksgiving is our light crowd go to week when we aren't there for Halloween

As for weight loss, I started the month at 194.2 and weighed in this morning at 188.8! I have NO idea how to calculate the percentage of that, can someone clue me in? I thought 8 pounds this month would be a reach. But I sort of plateaued at the end of last month as I started with strength training - then suddenly the scale started moving again!

Finally - Villains!!! We love all thing Halloween so it's no surprise we love the villains! In fact we're signed up when we go down to spend a day at HS and are doing the Club Villain party - I can't WAIT!!!! Sadly, my favorite villain won't be there - HADES!!!! I love his irreverent wit! Great character... he, along with Pain and Panic, were on one of their cruise shows and they were terrific! But I am looking forward to seeing The Shadow Man at the party!!! I must like men as villains, THAT'S probably not a good thing hahahahahh!

As for weight loss, I started the month at 194.2 and weighed in this morning at 188.8! I have NO idea how to calculate the percentage of that, can someone clue me in?

That's great - I use an online percentage calculator - just google one and then put in the numbers.
