Princess Not Married??

HONESTLY: My daughter just asked me this question this week too!!! Of course she's older... and easier to have more complex conversations with......

We decided that it was a newer Disney princess movie (with more marketing concerns) and they decided to leave something for the sequel.............

Ohhhh.... I remember now how it came up! We were watching "Say yes to the Dress" and I told her I wanted to make Belle's yellow gown in white for her wedding dress one day!

This thread needs to be on the next podcast Forum discussion - too cute!

No one has mentioned Prince Edward ("real" Prince), and Nancy Tremaine (princess: by marriage) from Enchanted! Why are they not in the parks??

Although she is from a different tribe, here is an explanation from a Native American website of why Pocahontas is not a Princess:

It's Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet (defs had to wikipedia for her name though)

Thank you!

I've actually never seen that movie, so that explains why I didn't recognize her.

DH & I discuss this quite often. He likes to point out who is truly a princess and who is not. Poco & Mulan are his top two "offenders"! And as he points out, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Ariel are the only TRUE princesses -- the rest just "married into it". Drives my oldest daughter crazy as Cinderellas is her favorite!

Do you suppose if his dd "married into it", he'd object? Guess not! Bet he'd be thrilled to have come into some $ and have royal things. Bet he'd call her "PRINCESS" all the time!! That'd show him! :rotfl::worship::rotfl:

But, of course, he's right! With the exception of Jasmine as she was actual royalty.

DD did ask

Answers were:

Belle : the beast and I are planing our wedding, a wedding is a big thing to plan.. Dress and cake..

Sleeping beauty:

Flora and mary weather keep changing there minds about the color of the flowers and cake...

Flora wants a pink cake with pink roses and mary weather wants blue berry with blue roses..

I wonder why??? do you know?

DD" B/c Flora likes pink, and mary weather likes blue"

I did hear the other ones..

However she did ask mary poppins why she didn't marry bert?:rotfl2:

Mary " Bert and I are best friends"

DD" Mommy says, you should marry your best friend" :rolleyes1:lmao:

Last night we were watching Princess and the Frog and DD turned around and asked me why didn't Beauty and Beast get married ??
I told her I did not know.
Then she went to the movie cabinet and pulled out every princess movie, to show which princesses were not married.
And plans to ask each princess at the park why they are not married? :scared:
Is this an appropriate question for my DD to ask? :confused3

The list is
Beauty (belle)
Aurora
Snow White
And I think Mulan
I want to say that it is inferred that Aurora and Phillip are married since they are betrothed to one another since birth - we just don't see the wedding.

Beast and Belle are not, I can't remember why.

I think it is inferred that Snow White marries her prince too, we just don't see it.

Mulan was apprehensive of Shang, so there was no wedding there (but I haven't seen Mulan II yet, so I don't know how that story ends)

They must all get married, because Alfred Angelo just put out of a line inspired by their wedding dresses.

He has:

Tianna
Belle
Ariel
Aurora
Jasmine
Snow White
Cinderella

Out of them, I think in the movies only Ariel, Cinderella and Jasmine getting married, but I'm assuming since they are inspired by their wedding dresses and the princesses, themselves that they are all married after the movie ends. I'm looking forward to trying on Tianna, Cinderella and Aurora next month!!!

I have to throw out there that Cinderella was also a pesant before marriage and she is the most common princess of all. Snow White is never confirmed in the movie as an actual princess. Her step mother is consider the queen however so she probably is.

On a side note Pocahontas doesn't get put in the princess catagory very often and she is the daugher of a chief. She is more of a princess than Mulan.

Snow White is a princess by birth. The huntsman refers to her as "Princess" in the film.

I like to think the non-married women are holding out until we have equal marriage rights for ALL... ;)

popcorn::

This is one of the most interesting threads! Love this discussion.

Could someone identify all the girls in that photo? I think I have most of them, but want to be sure.

Here's another twist to consider: I'm fairly certain that she doesn't become imortal, but since Hercules DOES, Meg is at least married to a God (that is, if we decide they end up married), which I guess, would be a step above Princess, dont ya think?

This picture has made the rounds a lot, but it's always what I think of when this comes up:

)

In the latest movie -( Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams )

They are still not married...and this is after Aurora moves into the castle:confused3

It may not be in all the movies, but I'm pretty sure DD has a book where each princess is married (not all the same book, just different stories where they're married)... like one is Snow White on her first anniversary with the prince and they both go and ask the dwarfs to get a special diamond for their spouse. Although the books for Belle may just be books about when she lived in the castle (which seems weird to me - she wasn't there THAT long)... I'll have to check next time we read them. I'm not sure if books "count" because they're not movies, but they're out there. :) Trust me, DD knows EXACTLY where to look for them at the library, lol! ;)

2 things on the topic of princess marriage.

1) As I was watching Voyage of the Little Mermaid at the Studios last weekend, it dawned on me that when I first saw the film at age 6, it seemed completely realistic to me that Ariel married at age 16...

2) In Tangled, Rapunzel is 18 and the film ends with Flynn talking about asking her to get married for years before she finally says yes.

I guess Disney is picking up on the trend of a rising average age of marriage in society...

I'd just let her ask. Face characters give hilarious answers!!!

My DD asked Snow White where the dwarves were and she had this whole story about how the were at the mines trying to find some diamonds for her and how she was going to make them gooseberry pie for dinner and then she asked my DD if she likes gooseberry pie.
