Grocery Delivery

So I triple checked and there were no shuttle launches after April 8th, gave up on car rental. Just checked now there are now a few. Gah! We leave in a week and I am ALL over the place!

In the past I used Instacart from Publix for years, then after several bad experiences (orders canceled with no notice or reason) and rising fees, I started taking Lyft to and from Publix. As the cost of Lyft increased, I tried Amazon Fresh on my last visit in January. It worked out very well! I always order alcohol so I had to be present, and my shoppers/drivers were a husband and wife team who carried everything up and into my 3rd floor room at OKW. I'll definitely use Amazon again.

Basically you have to be sure to check leave at door and leave instructions otherwise there is a code, not QR but rather a 4 digit code they have to verify in order to drop off.
Based on the scant reading I did about this, it looks like it is a not-all-the-time-in-all-places thing. I know for sure I did not have to mess with any of that five weeks ago.

Thanks! Since 5 weeks is very recent I think that’s probably the DP I will go with if we end up not using Target for some reason.

I use Walmart+ most of the time and generally do not have issues. Here is the secret to a successful delivery. Make sure it is scheduled after you arrive in FL if flying. Walmart will text you about any issues with your delivery and you need to be on the grid for that.

We've used Walmart once, Amazon several times, no serious issues but always some uncertainty about delivering it to the resorts (security letting them in was an issue once, finding the driver once because I wanted to meet them but instead they gave it all to bell services). Decided to try Vacation Grocery Delivery on our last trip. It came highly recommended, and because it's run by former cast members they know the locations and it arrives before your arrival time and they coordinate everything with bell services seamlessly. Their delivery fee is (probably) higher but I used them because they were transparent about it (vs odd mark-ups from the others) and I liked the idea of supporting a local small business. And my reduced stress about the delivery was worthwhile in the end. I'll be using them again.

I also would rather pay the fee that’s in front of me than pay various markups so the fees are kind of hidden.

One other thing to keep in mind when staying at Boardwalk - Speedway is pretty close!

It’s not huge but they sell wine, beer, water, soda and snacks, coffee, etc.

A tip I learned from the UK travelers is to bring an empty luggage with you.

Makes it easy to wheel a bunch of drinks back to the room 😂

It’s a nice back up, especially for alcohol and cases of soda, which the Boardwalk Market doesn’t carry.

A 6 minute walk?!!!

That is how good they enclose the bubble. I had no idea.

I hope you’re not actually looking for “shuttle” launches…
They permanently stopped many years ago.

I’m hoping you are looking at any sort of rocket launches out of KSC, which usually you can see pretty good from WDW.

No not NASA like what just happened on the 1st. Rockets is the correct word, basically a launch for my son to see since we missed the Artemis launch by 10 days.

Anyway we decided the ones that are going to be when we are there are not as the most convenient times this trip. Maybe in the future.

Got it… I just wanted to make sure you were not googling “shuttle”, as that would be long gone.

We live 40 miles from the space center and I just step out to my porch and can see any launch!!! Cloud cover does have a say on that however…. :teeth:

Thank you so much! I had screenshotted a person on FB who said to use Flamingo so thats what I wouldve chosen. I for sure want a Super Target for the groceries.
Flamingo Crossings Target is tiny! I've stayed for 1 night at the start of various trips in both Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn and have gone into the Target for minor things. Wouldn't depend on them having everything desired.

My preferred spots for things for my rooms are (Ovation) Publix and Aldi - I go to the ones down Old Lake Wilson Rd, leaving Disney via Sherberth Rd near Animal Kingdom. This is a bit far for most people (more than 20 minutes one way) but so far I always have a car and I like getting away from the bubble. I also prefer this Publix or most Publix to almost all other options and I've physically shopped in many. Full disclosure, relatives had a couple of houses in Reunion (all sold during the pandemic) and I was very acquainted with that area for almost 20 years.

To the OP, I just did Walmart delivery to BWV last week and it was super easy and trouble free. I had reached out to member services to confirm the proper address and guidelines. Basically just the resort address, place your name and reservation in the W/M online comment field, and cell phone info in case they need to reach you. I experienced no QR or other code garbage during the transaction. Bell services took possession of the goods until we arrived and brought it to the room for the $6 fee and of course a tip.

Amazing! Thank you for the info. So now I can just look and see who has more of what I want/need. Target or Walmart.
