:rotfl2: come on! cuz i can't wait to hear what the princess is going to come up with.
or maybe Princess-to-be in belle's case!

When my DD was 9 we saw Mulan at a character breakfast and she whispered to my DD, "Don't let you mom set you up with the matchmaker!!" lol

Belle and Beast are married. Belle was a peasant, while Beast was a prince. The only way she could be made a princess was by marriage. In fact I believe it's a Disney trivia of who's the only princess that became royalty by marriage. I know I read that trivia somewhere but I can't remember where I read that.

There are nine canonical Disney Princesses, if you go by the Disney Princess official website (and why not? :goodvibes). Four of them are royal by birth:

Snow White
Aurora
Jasmine
Ariel

Four are commoners:

Belle
Mulan
Cinderella
Tiana

And then there's Pocahontas, and I'm not sure where she fits. She's the Chief's daughter, but is that really a princess? I don't know, but who am I to argue with Disney? I'm also not sure why Esmerelda doesn't get to be a Princess, if Poca does, but again, I don't own the rights to them. :lmao:

I would think Pocahontas should count - in the tribal system of the American Idians the chief was the "king" of his territory, except in places where they formed larger confederations of multiple tribes...

And anyone that knows anything about Disney weddings knows it takes time to plan one of those things - no way they can squeeze one in at the end of a full length movie. You've got to find the dress, book the wedding pavillion, schedule your private fireworks, find a date with the honeymoon suite at the GF available and not occupied by another celebrity... the list goes on and on!

well i would say "hun, most marriges end in divorce and the beast really didnt want to go through all that legal mumbo jumbo and lose half of his royal riches. so they just hung out until they became sick of each other and parted ways peacfully." hehehehehehe just kidding you guys... could you imagine her face :lmao::rotfl:

It would look like this..... Horrified & Confused.....

This was after i told her the alice was not really a princess :rotfl2:

If Coral hadn't been eaten by the pirhana (no, not pirhana...whatever kind of fish that was), Nemo would have been a more normal kid, Marlin wouldn't have been so protective, and the whole journey probably wouldn't have happened b/c Nemo wouldn't have defied his overprotective parent by staying at the fishing boat. No need to find him!

Tiger Lily is a princess, so I would assume Pocahontas is too.

Snow White, Aurora and Mulan are all married too. Although technically I believe (I can't be 100% sure) Mulan isn't a princess. She is married to the one of the members of the royal court though, so I *think* that does makes part of the royalty circle but I'm not sure how.

And yes I am one of the history geeks, so all this in IMO.

I have to throw out there that Cinderella was also a pesant before marriage and she is the most common princess of all. Snow White is never confirmed in the movie as an actual princess. Her step mother is consider the queen however so she probably is.

On a side note Pocahontas doesn't get put in the princess catagory very often and she is the daugher of a chief. She is more of a princess than Mulan.

When Belle and Beast are in the Park together she is wearing her peasant outfit. In the Parades and Shows with her Prince, she is wearing the Yellow Ballgown!

Hmm, I think Disney's official princess website is biased against some of the lesser known (aka not as marketable) princesses of Disney canon!

They don't mention Princess Tiger Lily from Peter Pan, Princess Eilonwy from The Black Cauldron, or how about Kida from Atlantis? She's a princess too. And if you really want to get technical, you could get into direct-to-video sequel territory and point out some of the offspring of the characters. Simba and Nala's daughter Kiara, Ariel and Eric's daughter Melody, just to name a few. OR if you want to count Pixar, you have to include Princess Atta and Dot from A Bug's Life! :rolleyes1

I don't consider Mulan a princess so I don't know what Disney is thinking on that one (other than franchise $$$)...she's not of royal birth, and her husband isn't either. He was a captain in the military promoted to general, but that doesn't make him royalty.

Yeah, maybe I think about these things too much. :rotfl:

DH & I discuss this quite often. He likes to point out who is truly a princess and who is not. Poco & Mulan are his top two "offenders"! And as he points out, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Ariel are the only TRUE princesses -- the rest just "married into it". Drives my oldest daughter crazy as Cinderellas is her favorite!

This picture has made the rounds a lot, but it's always what I think of when this comes up:
The_Non_Princess_Club_by_mimi_na.jpg

LOL, I've seen that picture before. I had it set as my desktop wallpaper at one point. ;)

 This topic is hilaroous.

And I agree with one of the PP that Mulan isn't a princess, not even by marriage.

Back in the days of the fairytales lots of women died as a result of childbirth. So thats why most princesses (to-be) have no mother and are single child.

btw I am curious why we dont get to see Kida in the parcs. It would be awesome to meet her.

wikipedia has this to say about Mulan:

The Emperor presents her with his crest, intending for her to be his successor, technically making Mulan "Princess of China."

for whatever that's worth...
