Price increase in 2 days!

I suspect that the Dream's MV and all the publicity around it has sparked interest in DCL and increased bookings.
I wonder if those booking onboard the MV for the discount helped push the sales past the 'price increase' threshold.

I just got an email from my TA telling me that DCL is pulling all of the inside and oceanview rooms that are usually available for the TA's to book, and taking them back into DCL's own inventory...in two days.
That means that all the hype about the Dream is working, and Disney doesn't want to share the profits, and has also proven this by raising the prices, probably sooner than they normally would.

Forgot to mention....all the rooms that are being pulled are for cruises starting July 10, and ending with Sept 29.

I had posted prices for the Fantasy MV just 3 days ago, on 1/28/11, in the Special Rooms thread, when we were discussing situations where verandah rooms were less than porthole and inside rooms. I just went back tonight and updated them for the new prices. Here's what I posted in my update:

The prices on the Fantasy MV cruise have jumped sharply as well. But there remains one strange price - the 8A rooms are still more expensive than the 5D Verandah rooms for a family of 4.

Here's what I posted just a few days ago, with the updated prices off to the side:
1/28/11 -> 2/1/11 price
11A - $5813 -> $6569 = $756 increase
8D - $5827 -> $6961 = $1134 inc
8C - $5897 -> $7045 = $1148 inc
10A - $5981 -> (not avail)
6A - $5995 -> (not avail)
8B - $6037 -> $7227 = $1190 inc
8A - $6219 -> $7451 = $1232 inc
5D - $6247 -> $7437 (lower than 8A) = $1190 inc

^^ haha
That is still sooooooooo weird!

I checked our June 2012 cruises we booked about 2wks ago (I only checked June 23rd, not 16th) and they have jumped almost $3000 in price already.

What is up with the 8A rooms?? Why are they so high. They must be super special. I wanna see one now. lol

Wow reading this you guys got me curious. For the same type of room on the June 16, 2012 cruise, we would now be paying $1900 more than when we rebooked on our last cruise. Glad we did....it's already expensive enough, now it's beyond our budget!

It's funny - just for into the discussion last week with co-workers/boss because they thought anyone that planned their vacations so far out were crazy. Wait until I give them thisexample, especially since June 16 is our cruise!! (We didn't book the first day booking came out, we waited until we were on board the Magic last month)

They have to cover Bob Iger's THIRTY FIVE PERCENT raise!

.

We recently booked June 16th 2012.... because we had b2b booked for Fantasy in April 2012 and then suddenly a lot of people we've cruised with before (pirates) were booking June 23rd 2012.. so we switched to 6/16 and 6/23 cruises. I'm sure we paid a lot more than those that booked it soon as the dates came out. And maybe others doing b2b with the 6/23 pirates cruise is making that cruise fill up a bit more? This group is used to long cruises (panama canal 2008 and EBTA 2010) -so there might be a lot of b2b'ers like us. Plus in summer probably helps it fill quickly too. June 23rd started filling up FAST all the sudden when everyone started switching to that cruise- our group is not small. LOL As soon as I found out and went to book- there were no longer any inside or oceanview rooms for 4... only verandah. :scared1:
I wish I'd booked those cruises the day the dates came out- so I would have gotten the cheaper price but alas..... such is life. I wish I'd had a crystal ball. LOL

you area going on back to back cruises? 2 weeks! NICE! :thumbsup2 are all these "pirates" going to be on the June 16th cruise?? and what are these said pirates??? :goodvibes

We're going Jun 16 & 23, 2012 also. Our category went up 3000 per cabin. wow

another back to back! wow! :thumbsup2

Exactly! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I wonder if the June 16 cruise is a popular one.. because the weekend after is cheaper? Is is a eastern/western thing?

ugh! I so need those last few documents so I can file my taxes and book (and pay for) the last 2 cruises we have picked out...

We originally chose June 16 because it was the cheapest Eastern carib of the summer. Our anniversay happens to be June 13, and DH's b-day is June 15, so it does kind of work out for us. We did the same thing last summer - chose an Aug DD cruise because it was the cheapest, and we prefer verandah cabins, so it made a big difference price wise.

For all of you June 16th Fantasy cruisers, here's a link to the meet thread. We are a lively bunch :goodvibes

Man i hate to hear that. I've got my eye on 2 different cruises, but can't book them until Feb 15...

It looks like the price increases are EVERYWHERE.

We're booked on the Magic - in the Med, which is supposedly not selling well this summer - and the price for OUR trip has increased $1700 since we booked it.

I get the Dream, but the Magic?

We were hoping to book the Fantasy when we were onboard, but we might just be skipping that plan, too. We initially thought we'd travel back to the US next year to stay with our parents when they take their annual trip to FL and add on a Dream trip, but now??? Not so much.

Why not? Couldn't you book them with a Disney Visa and get 6 months free financing on the deposit? I learned to never wait until getting onboard to book a room as prices will often jump significantly more than the 10% discount one can get onboard.

Well, after all of this talk, I had to go price our rooms that we booked back on the first day of booking. We have a Cat 5c and 11b across the hall for June 2012. With the OB 10% discount, our rooms increased by about $725 within a couple of weeks after booking and now have gone up another $2,000!! Without the OB credit, our same two rooms are now over $3,000 more than when we originally booked. I'm not sure we could afford to go on the same cruise again!

Someone at DCL must have decided that the ships are filling too quickly in 2012 so to slow down demand, they increased the prices dramatically!

I guess I can no longer say that the Oasis costs a lot more than DCL for the summer of 2012 (well it's still more expensive for me, but not for anyone looking to book now for 2012).

I know, right?
(personally the 8A rooms I've seen pictures of I do NOT want to be put in them- even if it was a free upgrade. I mean seriously. I'm at the point I think everytime we stay inside on Dream/Fantasy I'll put do not upgrade on it. ugh but then again what's the point? just book verandah cheaper. :lmao:

Pirates is what we've called ourselves on several cruises that most of us have cruised together.... you should see the pictures of the majority of the group in super mega authentic costumes!!!
The pirates are cruising 6/23.... but some of them might be doing back to back cruises. We hadn't before on the previous pirate cruises- but we will on this one. The thing is our first pirate cruise (which btw- included a lot of "blabbermouths" group and "double dip" cruisers also- in other words some had already cruised together on the same one or two cruises prior to the "pirates" group coming together on the Panama canal cruise) was Panama Canal and the second was transatlantic.... what you should read from that is- LONG CRUISES. LOL For some, 7 days just isn't enough. We're one of those "some" LOL
It comes out cheaper for us too- one airfare instead of twice for 2 seperate cruises.... one rental/other transportation to/from port, one pre-cruise stay at parks instead of two. Yanno? A lot cheaper to do back to back vs. 2 seperate cruises at different times of the year.
Anyway there might be quite a few who are booking June 13th also.
But it kinda looks like a lot of other cruises are going sky high in prices too... so that probably has nothing to do with it. LOL

I originally booked a cruise on the Dream when I was on the Magic last year, then moved to the April 21st sailing of the Fantasy in a Category 9A forward-facing room. My category is sold out (at least I think so, it's not appearing on the site when I do a search anymore).

My Fantasy June 30 5E room is now $900 higher for two adults since I booked a few days ago. I also notice a larger difference in price for veranda rooms compared to ocean view (inside still a little high). I can just see universities using this as a case study for supply and demand- it is interesting.
