This is insane!!!
I booked 2 days ago for June 16, 2012 on the Fantasy.. and I just went to check about the deluxe verandas and my category (for 2A and 2C) has gone up by $1200~:scared1::eek::scared1:
REALLY!??!? that is insane! I am so glad I booked 2 days ago!

Welcome to our cruise :goodvibes Come on over to our meet thread :thumbsup2

We looked at booking that cruise when bookings first came out in Oct., but we didn't book until we were on board the Magic this Jan (we wanted the re-bookingon board benefits), and the price went up $200, which wasn't bad. We looked at Cat 5E and 6A (decided on 6A for multiple reasons). That is sure better than $1200 in 2 days!!! Prices go up as your cat sells.............

Wish I would have booked back then.. I had NO idea you had to book this early.. and honestly wouldn't have even been looking if there wasn't all the hoopla going around with the Dream.. so glad I did.. I wasn't going to book until late summer/fall of this year.. :scared1:

I'll come on over to the meet up.. thank you!:thumbsup2

I have found that prices fluctuate all the time. We booked a deluxe ocean view stateroom for The Dream in May last month and it was almost $4000 but my travel agent called me last night to tell me she found a deluxe ocean view stateroom, albeit on a lower level of the ship for $3100. Last year we booked 6 months in advance and 2 mths before that cruise the SAME exact room showed up for less than half....we actually canceled, lost our deposit and rebooked at the lower rate and still saved $1600. Not sure why their prices go up and down so much? One could go crazy constantly checking:)

We booked our August cruise the day booking opened for the Dream and got a great rate. Within days it was up $500 for our category and the category was sold out within a week. Part of me wants to cancel that cruise for something else, but the great rate we got keeps me holding onto it.

I wonder though...if I cancelled, would it go back into the availability at the price I paid or the higher one?

You are right! I just checked on the same category & sailing this morning, it was still the same price. Then it suddenly jumped $1200 in the afternoon. Wow!

We usually book early for this reason. You think 2 days is crazy- you should see how some cruises jump in price in HOURS.. MINUTES even -on opening day for that date if it's a special cruise or for some other reason filling up quickly. LOL

We recently booked June 16th 2012.... because we had b2b booked for Fantasy in April 2012 and then suddenly a lot of people we've cruised with before (pirates) were booking June 23rd 2012.. so we switched to 6/16 and 6/23 cruises. I'm sure we paid a lot more than those that booked it soon as the dates came out. And maybe others doing b2b with the 6/23 pirates cruise is making that cruise fill up a bit more? This group is used to long cruises (panama canal 2008 and EBTA 2010) -so there might be a lot of b2b'ers like us. Plus in summer probably helps it fill quickly too. June 23rd started filling up FAST all the sudden when everyone started switching to that cruise- our group is not small. LOL As soon as I found out and went to book- there were no longer any inside or oceanview rooms for 4... only verandah. :scared1:
I wish I'd booked those cruises the day the dates came out- so I would have gotten the cheaper price but alas..... such is life. I wish I'd had a crystal ball. LOL

It would go to the higher one.
The only way it would move back down is if later they lower the prices if the ship isn't full either near PIF date or after PIF date.

We have yet to cruise, but I will be checking on our March sailing for the Oct. one we have booked! I'll be doing a couple of others as well. I think we might like to sail at Christmas 2012, so we will see how those work out.

Just checked prices for my 6/16/2012 Fantasy cruise as well. Since I booked last week, the price went up appx $925 for 1 adult and 2 kids, same cat 6B cabin. I'm thrilled I didn't wait any longer! Good thing I didn't really want the concierge family stateroom I had priced just for giggles - was $7984 last Friday; now $10698.

Goodness! I am thinking now maybe we should book our next one onboard waaaay in advance. How long in advance do they allow you to book? Plan on taking our little one next time but she needs to be quite a bit older. Might just have to wait til '13 actually.

Ours went up too. Two days ago I booked the June 6, 2012 on the Dream. I was just messing around on the site this afternoon and noticed the price for our category was different. I priced it and it had went up $103.53.

Can't wait to see what it's going to be this time next year for that category. Glad I didn't wait until today to book it.

I guess many cruises went up today! I just checked ours and it has gone up over $1100 since yesterday!!!

We're going Jun 16 & 23, 2012 also. Our category went up 3000 per cabin. wow

Holy Cow!!! I cannot believe the increase. Our 8A cabins went up over $1200 each. I feel for those who are booking now. What in the world would account for such a jump?

Lori P. :)

I suspect that the Dream's MV and all the publicity around it has sparked interest in DCL and increased bookings.

It's insane!! I'm sure it's the MV of the dream. That is what had me loiling at prices already. I didn't plan on booking until later this fall. So glad I booked! It will be fun to see what it is next week!!

Holy cow!
I was bemoaning the fact I hadn't booked right the first day I could (for those June dates in 2012) and how I could have saved money if I had... now look at how much I saved even with booking it recently (instead of like say today or tomorrow) LOL wowzerssss.

Because of the price, we'll have to skip DCL for 2012. Even if I book on board, it's still too steep for me.
