Preferred View-BWV-Long walk?

Luna Park however is the worst DVC pool for "little ones" in my opinion. SSR and BCV and VAKL have zero entry pools, much better for smaller kids. SSR and BCV have toddler slides, and the only slide at VAKL is pretty tame (though there isn't zero entry). OKW and BWV have deep pools and the slide at BWV is a little more intense than most pools (I'm not sure what the slide at OKW is like). You can get life vests for small kids at the DVC resorts, and wearing vests my "little ones" (who are no longer little) were very content at BWV - however, it was a LOT of work for Mom and Dad.

This is good to know! My sons are not good swimmers(6 and 3). However since we are looking to go in January the pools shouldn't be much of a problem. I love zero entry pools! They are a parents best friend!

Sorry, that should be VWL that isn't zero entry but has a tame slide.

Yep, we liked zero entry with toddlers, but they outgrown them so fast. Now we prefer non-zero entry pools because so much of the pool is "too shallow" is a zero entry pool.

The walk can be long, but its overplayed here.

We had a much longer walk from our AKL room to Mara than anything at BWV. My parents walk at WL to the pool was longer than any we've had at BWV. Stayed at the far end of the Poly Longhouses once - though the grounds there are lovely to walk in, it wasn't a short walk.

There are long walks at BWV - there are long walks at almost any Disney resort - they are just generally pretty big and pretty spread out.

That's good to know - I read these remarks about long hallways often but don't know what to expect. Are we talking from the hub to the Adventureland bridge, or are we talking Spaceship Earth to the American Adventure? This helps give perspective. We had a long walk once when we stayed at BC Resort, but we definitely survived it every day and night.

Just as an FYI - the pool at OKW is great and the slide is wonderful but, I'd say, intense! I was surprised by the speed at which I went down (it's a downward spiral with powerfully gushing water and a strongly-propelled deposit into the pool). It was great but DEFINITELY not for kids who are timid or under 10 or so. And there's no zero entry.

You're darn right on that one. I'm a BWV owner who has stayed several times in Jellyrolls end BW view villas. The walks to those were nothing compared to that of a recent stay I had (during a conference) at the Yacht Club. My room was literally a five minute walk (at a fast clip) from the lobby.

And many other attendees at the conference also complained about the ridiculously long hikes to their rooms.

The rooms closest to MGM are our favs. The halls are quiet(er), and they are closer to the bus stop than most of the rooms. Plus, we like the walk to MGM, and being at that end of the resort gives us a head start.

Having said that, last time we were there we had a great room overlooking the Village Green.

The only room we DIDN'T like was our first stay, right next to the elevator. We always knew when the elevator had arrived and only some of someone's party was there, and that they were holding the elevator, so hurry up!

It's the "inset" lawn area in front of the rear of the Boardwalk main lobby:

Villas with village green views are set back from the Boardwalk, and because of the setback often don't have a view of Epcot and Illuminations.

In fact, some people booking BW view get annoyed if they get assigned a "Villa Green area" villa (the ones on the "Screen Door" end towards the front -- which are mostly studios -- are categorized as BW view). Even though they are are, they aren't directly overlooking the Boardwalk and have at best a partial view of Epcot/Illuminations.

Moral - if you're booking a BW view studio, never request close to lobby or elevator.

Yes, but... All the Boardwalk View rooms are on the second floor or above. Luna Park is off the first floor. Which means you can be pretty close to Luna Park, but have to take stairs or the elevator to get there - and if your "little ones" can't take stairs, you need to figure its an elevator trip. That's why "close to the elevators" is such a common request (Luna Park is right off the elevators). That's true of everything but ground floor rooms at BWV in any view category.

There are 4 or 5 boardwalk view rooms on the first floor, next to Jellyrolls. There is shrubbery between the room and the boardwalk to give you a little privacy. This is where the DVC models used to be.

We are leaving in one week for MSSNP and F&W staying in a preferred studio. I have not stayed at BWV so I am wondering what would be the most centrally located area to be in. We are not travelling with children so that's not a consideration. We are all ablebodied although my mother could benefit from not staying in an area with one of the "Overlook Hotel" type hallways. Any suggestions?

If I had to guess - I wish my DH was still awake he is better at distances - I would have to say - and I stayed in one of the last studios at BWV - it is about from the hub to Adventurland to say Splash mountain. Or from Spaceship Earth to the bridge between England and France. That about right?? The end of BCV from the front desk is about the same.


I may be wrong - but then again your talking to a 49 yo Pooh sized female who does not find walking to the rooms a big deal.

I used walkjogrun.net. I get about .12 miles from the Lobby to either end of the Boardwalk Villas - so about a quarter mile long in total, but the lobby and elevators are in the middle.. I get about .13 miles from the turnstyles to the hub (before the castle) at MK. - or about the same from Spaceship Earth to the Living Seas. I get .16 miles from Mara to the far end of AKL. If you are staying at the far end of VWL its about .1 mile to the WL Lobby. And about .15 miles from the back end of the BCV to SAB.

Its walkjogrun, so its approximate.

I'm not too concerned about the distance. I tend to think people's posts about the distance to the rooms are a bit dramatic. Of course, I've never stayed at BWV, but we did stay at Beach Club on our first trip and, while we agreed that that walk was long, it was manageable.

I'm not concerned about the walk to the rooms at BWV - I figure if I can walk 8 miles a day in the parks, I can handle walking to the rooms.

Which views are the ones closest to the MGM walkway again?
