Potty accidents and PreK

Seems I'm from the generation that had to wash everything by hand.
First we had the cook the laundry for a night and then my hubby and I had to rub and rinse every piece.

Its just laziness that children are not potty trained from the parents. Pampers are so easy and when the child go's to PreK its the problem of somebody else.
And yes our children were potty trained at the age of two.

And yes they were also cute and " extremely intelligent".:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

There's no law that says that everybody else has to do things according to your schedule otherwise they will be deemed lazy. You my dear are not the beat we all have to march to.

I just wonder if "potty training" fore a 3,5 year old just a laziness by his parents???

If there where no Pampers and you had to wash all his diapers I think all kids would have been potty trained before they even got two years old.

It seems to be quit comfortable just to do noting yourself except buying Pampers and put the problem on the teachers plate.

 that is uncalled for and frankly impolite. OP never mentioned Pampers at all. He soiled himself in his clothing. You're just stirring the pot here:stir:

No I'm a full trained mother,and grandmother with almost 60 years life experience.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Interesting point of view, although my DMom has 60 years of life experience too, and she used Pampers on all 3 of her kids and we were all trained when we were ready. She also had the use of a washing machine too and she was not wealthy. So not sure why you were "cookin" laundry????

She also help care for my kids esp my oldest as I was working PT so she was instrumental in potty training him and he wasnt trained until almost 3 1/2 as well

But one thing that is great about my DMom is the fact that she is nonjudgemental about parenting. Even with her 60 years of life experiences as mother and grandmother.

I guess it is bash parents day on the DIS, this and then the picky eating thread.

Wow.
I guess I should be glad DS goes to a special ed preschool. Last year, when he was 3.5 and he started PreK he was *mostly* pottytrained. He did fine at home but it was not uncommon for him to have an accident at least once a week at the beginning of the year. The teachers even requested a stack of pull ups or extra underwear,w hich I happily provided for him. They cleaned him up and went about their buisness, no matter if it was a poop or a pee accident (although if it looked like diarrhea they had to send him home, which I didn't mind. Diarrhea can spread fast in that kind of setting I know). By the end of the year, he was fully pottytrained at school. We've only had one incident so far this year when he forgot to ask and he was so embarrassed he hasn't done it again.

In special education, the rules are different. I worked in a class with 6 - 9 year olds who had several poop accidents, and the teachers and aide were trained and certified to take care of the situation. In this class, potty training was actually part of the currriculum - not so in a regular preschool classroom.

Not training a child to use a potty is just laziness.

There are a variety of reasons why children potty train early or late and why some have accidents and some do not. And what is a "full trained mother and grandmother???" I think I am a decent mom but nobody ever trained me. I was always told children did not come with instruction manuals so you listen to your heart and go with your gut instinct. Too bad in your 60 years of life experience you never learned to be non-judgmental and accepting of other's parenting styles.

I do accept other's parenting styles but these parents just put there problems on others plates.

I wonder if some posts scared OP from giving an update.

I don't think it is laziness but kids are sure trained late these days. I test preschoolers, hardly any three year old boys (older and younger three) are anywhere even close to being trained. It is weird. The girls, it is hit or miss. I am shocked when a three year old is trained, it just is not the norm.

I am not bragging but all six of my kids were trained by two, one was 22 months. It was very hard work but worth all them money I saved not having to buy diapers.

You know, I've always heard that most boys don't train until 3, but I've never personally known a little boy who wasn't trained before 3. My own were trained at 2 and 18 months (the 18 months one had a few accidents a month until 2 but not BM). I don't think it's the end of the world if a boy isn't trained early and I didn't push, I just don't understand why I don't know any late-training boys if that's the norm.

Wow, it must be nice to be a perfect mother and grandmother. Every kid is different, and some are not PHYSICALLY able to be potty trained until later. If you speak to any fully trained pediatrician they will tell you that. Where's that pot stirring smiley when you need him?

My mom is in her 60's, and had me in cloth diapers - used pampers on my younger sister. She said that kids were trained early, but the moms were as trained as the kids. She also admits she was thrilled when disposable diapers were invented - she didn't have to train my sister so early. My mom also admits that it was easier to train kids back then, because we weren't going anywhere - she had no car, there were no mommy and me classes, playgroups, etc., so much less stressful.
