POT (Proof of Time) Race Equivalency Cutoff Confirmed Times

So I have been watching these guidelines fairly closely because I am on the border between corrals. I just saw on FB that the Corral assignments for pacers were released for the Spring Time 10 Miler. It looks like the pacers for the 1:30 finish time are in Corral B. @DopeyBadger does that mean that the cut off for the PoT should be slightly faster than the 1:31:15? Maybe I am reading too much into this....lol...but these cut offs are my training goals. 🤣

I guess what I am saying is that if I submit a PoT for a 10 mile race that is 1:31 flat, that would not have placed me into Corral A for the Spring Time surprise 10 miler right? So for thinking ahead, if I run a 10 Mile race this summer and want to use it as a PoT for the HM only in January (not a challenge), what would I want to run in order to get Corral A placement? Sub 1:30? I know these are all just best guesses and this could change. I am just wondering if the goal posts were moved... 🤣

I don't think you can read into it with that granularity. There's not a 1:31:15 pace group, so there's no way to know exactly what the cutoff is from that.

Yes, I realize that...I know these are always just guidelines but I am working really hard on my running goals, and some of these goals include running near these cut off times so I just want to be prepared! :-)

These tables:

only covers the WDW M, Goofy Dopey in Table 1 and HM solo or non-marathon challenge events (like Fairytale, Two Course, Dumbo Double Dare, and Chills/Thrills) in Table 2. Nothing from these tables can be drawn back to Springtime. I haven't been tracking the Springtime 10 miler corral cutoffs because runDisney had announced they would be changing the distance... but obviously they haven't yet.

Even outside that, you can see disconnects just in Table 1 and 2 for the same time. For example, a person with a 1:30:00 10 miler would be in Corral B for Dopey (between 1:24:30-1:35:05) but in Corral A for the Fairytale Challenge (1:31:15 or less). That's just how the math shakes out. So just because a 1:30 Spring Time 10 miler is in Corral B has no bearing on what would happen for Dopey or Fairytale.

If the goal is a WDW HM solo event Corral A placement for Jan 2025, then the goal POT submission remains 1:31:15 or less.

I wouldn't assume the corrals have changed based on the official pacers. With the cutoff so close, it's smart to move the pacers back. Someone could reasonably have submitted a time good enough for B but be chasing that 1:30 time. Likewise, someone in A could have a 1:30 goal and they would be allowed to move back. If it was the opposite and the pacers were in A, corral B folks would not have the opportunity to run with the pace group.

Thanks so much @DopeyBadger and @GollyGadget --that makes a lot of sense. I promise I am not some kind of pace snob at all or obsessed with times. I just promised myself that my goal is to run Disney races with DH, who is a Corral A runner without asking him to drop back to Corral B (he always does happily so it's ALL ME and not him 🤣) . I have been working on this goal for 2 years now and I am chipping away it with each training block--I am getting close but not there yet....ALMOST!

Half Marathon Proof of Time: Results for a 10K, 10-Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon
Thank you! I have never submitted a POT and am sick of running any amount of minutes after sunrise lol I'm from New England and not used to the Florida sun. So I'm going to try to submit POT in an effort to get a better corral, I am usually corral C. Right now I run anywhere from 9:30-10:30/mile

Princess race POT deadline is coming up. I already submitted a 10K POT towards the RD Princess 1/2. I ran another 10K this morning and improved my time by 5 minutes (60 minutes 16 seconds to 55 minutes 14 seconds). However, according to the chart on the first page it would not change my coral. Would I benefit from submitting the improved time anyway?

Congrats! As you noted, it's unlikely to change your starting corral unless rD adjusts the ranges (though that's always possible), but it would give you a lower bib number if that matters to you. (It has no impact on your race but it might make you feel nice inside 😄) If I were you I would still update it.

Definitely update with the new. I’d say more likely than not it won’t change things but that’s close enough that you never know.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the chart. I was trying to figure out if my new 1/2 PR put me into POT contention for the Springtime Challenge. And this quickly told told me the answer to that was yes for the first time in close to a decade I have a POT again.

@DopeyBadger or anyone else who may know. If I am understanding the most recent chart in the OP, if I wanted to be in corral A, I would need to submit a POT of a 10 miler of 1:24:30 or 8:20ish pace or half marathon of 1:53:58 or 8:40ish pace as the slowest possible option?

Always subject to change, but yes. If you are submitting a POT for the WDW Marathon, Goofy or Dopey, then you need a POT 10 miler that is 1:24:30 or less or a HM POT of 1:53:58 or less to be slotted into Corral A (not including Dopey 5k/10k which is historically based on estimated pace and not the POT you submit).

Worth noting that W&D coming up will be the first time we’ll see the impact of the new 2:30 POT threshold at a WDW race. It’s not exactly clear how they’ll be integrated just yet but there was chatter from the latest DL race that some people who would normally be in B were assigned A and the new POTs were given corral B. We should know by this time next week how this is going to be handled but in the meantime the current chart is still the standard.

Anyone have any experience for getting a corral change at the expo?

I registered for the half for marathon weekend in early September using notifications from the team run disney ******* account. Since I was rushing to register, I skipped entering my PoT thinking I could go back an update it later. After getting my confirmation, I tried to go back and update my PoT but I couldn't, and e-mailing Track Shack confirmed they had already closed PoT changes at that point (which seemed really early since I vaguely recall mid-October being the cutoff in the past).

Track Shack did suggest I visit Runner Relations during the expo, so I'm hoping I can switch to higher corral then (my PoT should get my into A based on the current charts), but I'm still nervous about getting stuck in a later corral.

PoT was due on July 1 this year so that is why you couldn't update it. I still think you did the right thing by registering without it though because you may not have got in at all if you took the time to fill that all out.

I've heard success stories of PoT changes when there was some sort of error but not when there was just none submitted. My advice is to go ahead and ask (it certainly can't hurt) but have realistic expectations.
