Bongo's Cuban Cafe

We had lunch here - the interior of the restaurant is beautiful! I would love to come back and eat dinner on the patio while looking over at Saratoga Springs - what a view. I had the Cuban Sandwich:

My DW had the Pan con Bistec - long, thin but very tender piece of steak with mozzarella cheese, lettuce and tomato (although she left the tomato off of hers):

We both loved our sandwiches but they were huge and we took half of them back to the room. Even cold, they made great late night snacks!

Wow, Thanks for the pictures of the Cuban Sandwich. I just posted a thread the other day about wanting to try this!

Mmm I want one of everything in Goofy's Candy Cauldron! I'm sure they're calorie free, especially since Goofy is so skinny himself!

Picture of Kona Cafe Fruit Platter & Bug Kahuna

I CAN"T GET THIS TO WORK! SORRY!

This was so delicious! As you can see you get a lot so my daughter and I each took half the fruit and half of the Kahuna. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!

Because I had heard so much about the School Bread in Norway on these DISboards. I had to try one so I did....but I bit it before I took a picture so I went back to the cabinet and took this so. Here it is without the bites of myself and my daughter.

Sweet delicious and it has a cream filing. It hurts so good!

EDITED SEE POST ABOVE!!!!

Would like to see the pics of the meals at the Kona Cafe - but the links you have do not work...

Orsba - those are fabulous pics *drool* Congratulations on your wedding :goodvibes:

Looks like I'm going to have to invest in a treadmill for my return trip. I'm going to gain sooo much weight from this trip!

And going to enjoy every BITE!!! :cool1:

That first post in this thread showing a photo of the Mickey Waffle was kind of disturbing. It looked as though Mickey had had his brains bashed in with a shovel.

Okay, that was just twisted enough to make me laugh out loud.

My family is planning an intervention regarding my obsession with Disney food.

My 4 favorite snacks- white chocolate strawberries, white chocolate marshmallows, caramel apples, and of course my little oogieboogie.

Where is Goofy's Candy Cauldron in DTD??? I can't believe I've never seen it :earseek: How could we possibly have missed all that delicious goodness? :)

Thanks Ang! We ate at Earl of Sandwich- how did I miss it?? Oh wait! My BF got some straw filled with different colored sugar thingie there. We were in there, I just never saw a dessert case like the ones in the pics. Next time I will pay much closer attention! I think it's because he went in there and then I went in EOS to get a cappuccino smoothie and I went to meet him and then we left so I wasn't really in there that long. Thanks for the help! I feel silly now

Not anymore, actually. It just got moved across the sidewalk, to where one of the "home goods" stores was - they basically switched places. The home goods store now has various foods and wines from around the resort as well as the regular towels, cups, plates, etc.

The candy store is greatly expanded, with tons of new items, plus a frozen slushie stand. You can get a refillable cup, about 16-20oz in size for $6 (they're really sturdy, too) and refill for $2.

I can't WAIT to eat my way through Disney - these pics are great!! THANK YOU!!!!

SRU Alum -

Actually, the one we went to (and took pictures in) is on the West Side. It is in the row of shops that includes the magnet store, the magic store, and the Planet Hollywood memorabilia store - you walk past it as you go from Pleasure Island to Cirque de Soleil. I didn't see a slushie stand in there, but there is one wall that has numerous bins of candy - Jelly Bellys, chocolate covered raisins, etc. You can fill a bag yourself and they charge you according to how full the bag is. We didn't realize this and ended up buying $10 worth of chocolate covered raisins! Luckily, my DW said they were great. :teeth:

Forever42's post makes me think we missed a bigger and better candy store - although I can't believe it got any better than the one we saw!!

Cool! Thanks :) We missed that one too. We were even in the magnet store, but I was on a mission to find a monorail magnet that said the spanish spiel for my sisters, so I must not have been looking for goodies (it was a random moment, that's usually all I'm looking for :rotfl: )

Here are a couple of pics.

These pics are from CDoobee's Wish Walk '05 trip. Since she was on her own this time (although she was surprised by her sister's arrival a few days in), she brought along little "avatars" to represent her 3 Disney fanatic offspring--Ariel for me, Tigger for my DB, Jared (TigCollins--SOCD), and Tinkerbell for DSis, Katelyn (CDoobeeJr.).

Miyuki, the candy lady in Japan was very talented.

This monkey she made was holding a banana, and looked much better in real life!

The kids are getting into my specialty chocolates I got in Italy!
11688124.jpg

I'm getting hungry! Apparently, Hil and Katelyn like the Wet Burrito and Pico {from Cantina de San Angel, I would guess} best, while Jared goes straight for the churro!

One of the chefs {at Boma}, Tjetjep, who goes by TJ, gave me a tour of the buffet showing me all the vegetarian options, and THEN...

brought out this wonderful dish he'd prepared especially for me! It was great!
11688280.jpg

He later came back and brought us all some...

deep-fried oreos! YUMMY!!
11688282.jpg

After saying goodbye to Melanie {MelanieC}, {DSis} Marcia and I went to Jellyrolls for a while,

and Sissy got thirsty and climbed right up on my straw!

Deep fried Oreos? That sounds awesome!
Can you get those at Boma by asking for them?
