Possible new annual pass promotion coming

As for upgrading, if we have 5 day passes in hand, but wont be at the parks till march 2018. Can we call and do the upgrade, then just show when we are there. If not then we would have to buy the passes now, and hold onto the passes for another year.

It's gonna have to be option 2...

Since you have a bought ticket, they will only bump them when you're there...but as you pointed out, it's after the promotion window.
 
Ok...If we have the DVC Platinum Pass now, can we call to just upgrade to the DVC Platinum Plus pass? We technically payed more for the Platinum Pass than what they are charging for the Platinum Plus pass now.
 

The answer about any ticket exchanges is generally "only at park entrance guest relations", BUT if you call, you can sometimes get lucky and get someone who will transfer you to someone else with Disney superpowers who can take care of it for you right over the phone.

So...... Do you feel lucky? :)
 
Is this only for DVC members?
Yes. It's a member benefit for those who purchased direct or those who purchase resale prior to April 4, 2016. The passes can only be purchased for use by people who live in the same household as the member.
 
Ok. i have a Gold AP that was just activated in May. When I'm in Disney in August i can upgrade my pass for free. Will it still have the same expiration date (May 2018) or will they give me another 12 months? Never had AP's before.
Also, if I purchase a new platinum pass , I don't have to use it until Dec of 2018, which will then expire Dec of 2019?

If you upgrade your current pass it has the same expiration date (May 2018)

Yes, you can sit on the voucher until December 2018 and it will expire 12 months after you first use it.

I wish they got rid of the "use by Dec 2018" date! We don't plan on going in 2018. We have 2 more trips this year.
 
That doesn't sound right. I think you need the blue card either way.
Well if you log in, it simply does not offer the AP deal but it offers you this deal, says nothing about a card (specifically says member ID, unlike with the AP) and has no statement re membership extras on there at all. I haven't bought it as even now it's not as good a deal as a standard price UK ticket (and I'm hoping like last year, once the 'free dining' offer eventually ends in the UK they reduce the 14 day ticket by £100- it's an ultimate ticket covers everything including hopping, mini golf, memory maker etc currently including tax it's £350 (about $425) but last year they dropped it to £250. )

You're right. The AP offer states:
  • This offer is part of Membership Extras. New purchasers after April 4, 2016 must purchase directly from Disney to have access to Membership Extras.
The ticket offer does not include that wording.

Pre-Feb purchase at $549 would need a $10.65 upgrade
Current gold bought at $559 should be free
 
Are there any circumstances where DVC/WDW would allow a non-transferable pass to be transferable (gifted/gratuitous transfer to family member or friend), say in the event that the pass owner dies or becomes incapacitated, etc?

They almost always allow it in those cases if you simply ask.

Thanks! Dd15 is flying to Disney with our family friends this week. I'd bought her a new gold ap a few days before the promotion began. I called Dvc and they switched hers to platinum at no extra expense. She will still go to guest relations for activation but it will activate as platinum.

The platinum upgrade worked for DD today
 
Just returned from our trip where we upgraded our gold passes with the 13month expiration to the platinum plus. Our expiration date on the gold was 3/18. When I logged into my MDE to look at our tickets our expiration date had changed to 2/18. We bought the original Gold AP's to cover trips for February 2017 and 2018. We probably would not have upgraded if we knew we would lose the month. My understanding was that if you had already activated and used the gold pass, the expiration date would stay the same. Has anybody else had this occur? I looked at mde after we upgraded and I am almost positive the date was correct but today when I logged in it changed to February. I have an email into member services but thought I would check here too. Hoping it was just a glitch. Our cast member doing the upgrade had to go into the back for a long time when she did the upgrade.
