Hi ya'll...I just need to get verification from the experts.;)

I called the Disney Travel Co to add a request to our reservation. I asked to possibly be in the new royal rooms. The CM said that they were a seperate, more expensive category, then told me they didn't have any rooms available anyway.

Is it true that the royal rooms are a different category? I wouldn't mind paying a little more, but I haven't heard this from anyone on the Boards yet (unless I missed it)

The royal rooms are a booking category; and they haven't even been finished yet. The refurb has just started.

Yes, as PPs said it will be their own booking category at a higher price. Similar to the pirate rooms at CBR. When are you going? They're only available for booking for stays after March 2012. Work commences on them in January 2012, and will be done by early March if they stay on schedule.

Magnolia Bend, Oak Manor: starts January 15 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]

Five weeks puts it done at or about: Feb. 19th 2012.

I have been watching all the info on these rooms, since I have one booked on the 24th of Feb.

:banana::banana: safe trip. I'll be lolling in the Gulf today, then bright & early tomorrow head over to WDW :goodvibes

At North Redington Beach.....loving the heat!!!
Checking in at POR tomorrow morning...woohoo!
:yay:

Is it possible to get a standard room in Magnolia Bend or are all the rooms in Magnolia Bend preferred? We really don't care which building we're in, we just would prefer Magnolia Bend area vs. Alligator Bayou. (Especially since it looks like Magnolia Bend will mostly be renovated by the time we get there with queen beds!)

It's my understanding that there are no preferred rooms in MB. All the preferred rooms are in AB.

I could be wrong though.

This is correct. Magnolia Bend has all the room categories except Preferred. Preferred is only certain buildings in AB.

We land in Orlando Sun. at 5:25 pm if all goes well and should be at POR by 7:00pm. We have put in a request for a refurb room, we have our fingers crossed!!!! We will be there for 12 days so I won't be able to post any pictures until may 9/01/11 in the evening, but I will take pictures if we get a refurbed room.

can you buy them w/a paypal account? how much are they?

The phones I bought are from Tracfone. The cheapest card on line is $10 I think thats for 30min or 90 text messages. The cheapest card that you would find in a store would be $20 for 60 min. I got the phone number for Hess Express by downtown Disney and they do sell them I will just take a walk down their to pick up a couple of cards along with some water and snacks for the room. Their is a way to load the minutes and actavate the phones without a computer but it's much easier with a computer. You get just enough minutes with the phones to load them just as long as you don't screw it up the first time.

I'll be traviling with my DD16 and thought the phone were a good idea incase we get split up. I will also be able call my DW back in Canada because with the Tracfone calling to Canada uses the same minutes as making a local call.

On the Tracfone web sight their is no mention of Paypal but that would have worked if their was.

Thank ya'll! I need to read the boards more and pay more attention!
Looking forward to maybe trying the royal rooms out Sept. '12 then!

Only 35 days to go for me! POR is the only mod I haven't stayed at. Hoping for some more pics of the rehabbed rooms to get me excited!

Oh gosh! For all you folks heading down there soon...

PLEASE TAKE PICS!!!! :worship:

Thank you :lovestruc

If we are lucky to get a refurb room on Saturday, I will definitely take pics. Unfortunately I won't have a computer so you wouldn't see them until August 28th late. Hopefully someone else will be able to post pictures sooner :)

Ok. So I have seen at least 6+ DISers that are checking in the next few days! Maybe we can fill up Acadian House and have lots of pics. Praying that we can get rehab rooms (kids need to share a bed and will fight less if it's a queen :)) but if not we are still at WDW relaxing!

Siiiiiiiigh...one more week (8/24!!!) until we check into that piece of heaven!

Wow another amazing shot. Looks like a dream. Excluding the people.

Love this one!

you really should enter your photography in contests... this takes the cake.

I really got lucky on this one and I'll tell you the reason why. We started out early that morning and we went from a really cold room to an outside humidity that was off the charts. This fogged up my lens pretty good. I was complaining in my mind. Little did I know that it would lend itself to a dream like photo. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

We have been using Tracfone for years!! and it is a great way to stay in touch at the parks. We used to have to add minutes online, because our phones had issues putting codes in... however, we both got new phones for Christmas last year and adding minutes from the phone is very simple! Actually it is easier than doing it online now... all you have to do is type in the numbers off the card....

hope this helps

I think my question got lost a few pages ago, or someone's reply did. :0)

We have a King room booked. Are these all over the resort, no special location? Are they ever corner rooms? Are there king rooms in the newly renovated sections? (not Royal rooms, I know they're not underway yet, and it doesn't look like King Royal rooms will even be on the menu).

:hippie:

We wil be staying at POR Riverside this coming Decemeber, our first stay there ever

When booking our stay we booked a standard King Size room but put in a special request to have a River view in the Magnolia Bend room. The CM was very nice and assigned us to building 85.

After we hung up with her I got a bit confussed...I realized that river view has it's own category with it's own price, so how was she able to assign us a building so far ahead of our trip and put in a request for a river view?

Also is building 85 a good choice? Thanks for the expert help!
