Ah, so true; my neighbor and I were discussing how just a short time ago, we were discussing going "next year" and here it is.

But I like it to slow down too; there isn't anything worse then the "walk of shame" to the ME bus at the end of the trip.

Agreed! Worst walk ever :sad2:

Sorry I didn't read the whole thread...but we are heading down Nov. 16th-20th at POR (king bed room), will those rooms be remodeled by then?

Thanks!

The refurb just started a few weeks ago; you can check out the schedule at portorleans.org.

Yup, East Depot. Had to go look at map, I can never remember the stop name.
Magnolia Terrace is my fav location, but depending on when you're going, it may be closed for renos. I think it has started, or will be soon. There's a reno sched on page 1.

We are headed down next March, so I believe that Magnolia will be completed by then.

Thanks again and have a wonderful trip!

I'm on my way......just waiting for my connecting flight. That's one step closer to POR!!!!!(

We leave for the drive down in 8 days! :cool1: Just was looking at the map, trying to figure out where I'd like to be. We're a party of 5, so I know we'll be in AB. Is there water or something located in the middle of bldgs. 26,34,35, 39? If so, I imagine that would be a pretty section to request. Don't think it's considered water view, but not sure if it's a different category. Looks to be a decent walk from the main area, but that'd be OK. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions?

Thanks!

We were in building 34 two weeks ago. Our view was of a small pond with a bridge over it and lots of greenery. It was very pretty. The walk to the West Depot was about 2 min. Great when returning from the parks! The walk to the food court was about 10-15 min., depending on how quickly you were walking. It was a lovely walk and no one complained about it, even the 4 teenagers in our group. At first we thought we weren't going to like our location but it turned out great. :goodvibes

I have a question for the Riverside veterans- It is our first stay at Riverside and the rest of our family is staying at French Quarter-Which building should be request for the quickest hop over there?

Well the Parterre Mansion is the closest building to the French Quarter. There is a bridge right at the south end of the mansion that takes you over to the other side of the water and then you just walk down the path under the bridge and down to the FQ. Path in red, below.

No in my past 4 years, a trip every year, have never found free wifi except at orlando intl airport. DVC has a wifi in the park but you have to be on DVC membership. I am getting free wifi on my plane rides!

Just got back from POR 2 weeks ago. No free wifi :sad2:

Thanks for the bad news...I guess. The reason I ask is because I have two US pay as you go cell phones that I can't load with minutes while I'm in Canada. They sell minute cards at Hess Express and it would be easier to load them with my iPad.

Maybe the front desk would be willing to help me out. I will also look for the cards during my layover in Chicago at the airport then I can load the phones at the Orlando airport.

Leaving on Friday:cool1: Still no other pics of the new rooms huh??
I am thinking maybe Oak Manor if we cant get Acadian..... Would like Magnolia but assuming that's closed now.

Yeah well if your hoping for free wifi at chicago I hope its not ORD aka O'Hare because I found this:

ORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport Wifi
Price
Concourse $6.95/day Terminal 1: Concourses B & C, Terminal 2: Concourses E & F, Terminal 3: Concourses H & K

No, I think I'd load the phones at the Orlando airport for fear of missing my boarding times. I just hope I can find the cards in Chicago.

I checked into it and they are not sold at the Orlando airport.

any way you could buy them online and have them shipped to you so you'd already have them when you get to orlando?

Judging by your signature, you're going in September? PP is correct that Parterre Place is the closest to POFQ. The rooms are not renovated yet, if that's a concern. If you're asking for a future trip that happens to be in 2012, Parterre Place is being converted to all royal rooms which will be a separate booking category.
