So excited! We are checking in on Saturday, our first ever stay on property!

My question is: am I crazy not to request a specific room or building? We paid for Garden View, and are celebrating my in-laws' 40th wedding anniversary. I figured we'd just check in on arrival and hope for the best...

Any suggestions?

Nope! I love doing that. I've stayed at on property 7 times and I only put in a request once that I can remember. I have always loved my rooms.

Have a wonderful trip!

We check in on the 22nd.....oh boy.....27 more days!!!!

I'm addicted to the dis boards and to the Port Orleans site (Thanks Andre!) - I must check in several times a day - even to just look at the pictures!

Enjoy your vacation!!!

We check in on the 23!!! I can't wait!!! I pulled out the suitcases yesterday. Now to start filling them!

I subscribed to this thread so I don't miss anything!!

We just got back from 10 days at POR. We were located in Magnolia and used the East depot all week. We only had 1 issue one morning when we waited a long time for an AK bus. The guy monitoring the stop gave us all fast passes. Other than that we did not have a problem except being either the 3rd or 4th stop at night :)

Ok. Gee I'm sorry I said anything.

I, for one, think its great that you were told that!!! I agree with you, that if you were told that this would happen, then it should be happening! I do think that I would print that email and bring it along... Just incase you need to be a complainer, like someone else suggested, to get what you want ;)

So happy for you and your parents! Can you fax in my request now please?

WOOHOO! So I sent my fax to Port Orleans today and received an email from Mr Elg within an HOUR!!! OMG! So he put me on the 2nd floor in Oak Manor in a corner room just as I requested! Here is the best most amazing part.... I requested that my parents were in the closest non-Royal Room building (since they didn't book one of those) so that we would be close. I just didn't want them to end up in Alligator Bayou since it's really far. He offered my parents a COMPLIMENTARY upgrade to a Royal Room so that he could place us in side by side rooms!!!! WOW!!!! Pixie dust already! :) :) :)

I hesitate to post this, because I know I will sound like Debbie Downer. But please, please, remember your room is not 100% your room until you are in it. Disney can and does pull preassigned rooms and gives them away. I've paid for certain room locations and not gotten them!

Hopefully you will keep the rooms you have been preassigned. But for your own good, don't become too attached! Don't make it so that if you show up and end up with a 3rd floor non corner room, you are heartbroken. It is not a good way to start a vacation, I can tell you.:(

I can't see why Mr Elg, the room coordinator, would go out of his way to e-mail me that this is what he is doing and then it not happen. He said "I WILL place you in a 2nd floor corner room and your parents beside you." He didn't just say he would try to do it.

He will pre-assign you those rooms. And if all goes well you will get them. However, you are not guaranteed them until you are in them. If someone checks in before you, and demands the room type you have, they may shift you and put the complainer in them.

As I stated, I've been bumped from paid for room locations before. Your room is not your room until you have key in hand, and have walked into the room.

Odds are you will get them. But sometimes stuff happens. So please don't make the joy of your vacation hinge on getting them. Thats all I'm saying.

Ok. Gee I'm sorry I said anything.

Hey Heather I just pmed you. I am glad for you.

I think if anyone knows this can fall through, it would be Venomhatch himself. It happened to him earlier this year. He spoke directly with the room assigner who assured him he would have TPV CL, and when he checked in, alas, he did not.

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying not to micro-manage too much, don't want to set myself up for disappointment ;)

I got TPV 3rd floor and have all the pics to prove it! end of subject! So nothing failed there! Mr. Elg did say it would be a long shot on Club Level! So have a nice day move along. Thanks for coming buh bye!

Back on topic folks. Rooms are pre-assigned and they aint yours til your in them. Period.

As for fighting back and forth, board rules will be enforced and infractions handed out if necessary. Drop it. Now.

Exactly 3 months from today we will be at MVMCP and I'm hoping to be close to a food coma by overdosing on cookies and hot chocolate

Then we'll have to roll in to our room at POR and sleep really fast so we can be up at RD for Epcot the next morning!

I.cannot.wait!

Don't feel bad, I think there was a minor outbreak of grumpy pessimism virus around here last night. :)

You have been allocated a particular room arrangement by the MANAGER of the on-site room assignment team, not by some anonymous person at a call center, and he felt confident enough in his systems and processes to personally email you to confirm what he has done. Sure, there's always still a chance that it might not happen for some unusual reason*, but the odds are that an assignment that he has specifically blocked out will not be overridden by anyone else without a VERY good reason.

* Caveat: yes, the rooms you have been assigned could have to be taken out of inventory due to some unforeseeable situation with a previous occupant or other damage... or the hotel could close a whole building due to a tsunami and the Sassagoula River flooding its banks... or Walt Disney World could suffer an earthquake and have to close for six months... In short, nothing in life is 100% certain, but in all probability you will get exactly what the manager has reserved for you.

I hope you have a great time, and your rooms are just what you want them to be.

Nice wording Andre! When pixie dust flows like this, we should be thankful that Disney is a place where magic happens, instead of coming down on it!

Can a family of 5 stay in Magnolia Bend if one of them is an infant in a crib/pack n play?

Yes, as long as they are under the age of 3, you are fine.

We did it last year with two couples and the infant in one room and the five year old and I were in the other room.

Mousekeeping will come in and set up the pak n' play and will make it up each day, when they do their regular rounds. They will push back the table and chairs and place it in front of them. So you won't have much access to the chairs, but you will be able to use the table top.

Enjoy!
