The difference between the Standard and the Garden view is The (GV) Garden and (RV) River-view ones come with dual queens, standard view comes with double beds.
Actually, ALL of the Royal Rooms, in all categories, will come with two queen beds - no more doubles after the refurbishments are done.
The Royal Rooms or RGR rooms, are all in the mansions and not near parking lots.
I'm sorry to disagree, but how much closer to a parking lot do you want to be?

The river view rooms are of course a little further away from the parking lots (as the Google satellite view shows) but do bear in mind that you can go round either side of the mansion buildings, or right through the middle (where the elevators are) so even then it's not that long a walk. For easy access to the main building though, a river view room is wonderful (quite apart from the gorgeous view).

I appreciate the information. I have checked out all the information online (especially Andre's very helpful site) but I just can't get a feel for how large the mansion buildings are and the best location I should try to angle for. I did not know that we would most likely be in the Oak building, that is very good to know for planning.
We have been officially upgraded to BC.

I actually went shopping today just so I wouldn't be stalking these boards (and to get some new shoes for the trip) lol. This is when I start to get mad at myself for using a TA just to get a small gift card. If I didn't have one, I would be stalking & calling Disney myself non-stop. As it is, I have to wait until the TA hears anything. I've tried calling myself, but the CMs won't tell me anything, and the TA just says we have to wait until Disney contacts them.
so glad you finally got your call!
Really can't wait for your trip report.
I said um no....
