The difference between the Standard and the Garden view is The (GV) Garden and (RV) River-view ones come with dual queens, standard view comes with double beds.

Actually, ALL of the Royal Rooms, in all categories, will come with two queen beds - no more doubles after the refurbishments are done.

The Royal Rooms or RGR rooms, are all in the mansions and not near parking lots.

I'm sorry to disagree, but how much closer to a parking lot do you want to be? ;)

The river view rooms are of course a little further away from the parking lots (as the Google satellite view shows) but do bear in mind that you can go round either side of the mansion buildings, or right through the middle (where the elevators are) so even then it's not that long a walk. For easy access to the main building though, a river view room is wonderful (quite apart from the gorgeous view).

They did mention they were in a riverview royal theme room, they would have to walk around or through the middle of the building to get to the lot. So I wasnt too wrong. I did forget the royals were all queen beds though. I did edit what I said, I also forgot to take out the part I mentioned about the parking lots. I fixed that also.

Thanks Venomhatch and andrewilley, :worship: I appreciate the information. I have checked out all the information online (especially Andre's very helpful site) but I just can't get a feel for how large the mansion buildings are and the best location I should try to angle for. I did not know that we would most likely be in the Oak building, that is very good to know for planning.

The Disney CM I talked to on the phone said any of the views would be fine and wouldn't make much of a difference from a walking perspective. But I'd like to not be right on top of the parking lot, which leaves me with Garden or River views. The cost difference between the 2 is about $128 which isn't that much, so that is why I originally booked the River View. I guess I'm just trying to verify if the extra $ is worth it, and it sounds like it is.

I gather from your replies that you both recommend the River View given our situation, so that's what I stick with! :thumbsup2

However I'm sure I'll continue to stress out over things, just because I've never been to Riverside. Hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise :goodvibes

If there is anything else I need to know, please feel free to share. I need all the help I can get ;)

Thanks again!
Traci

We have a March 7 check-in date. The CM I talked to said the calls are based on check-in date and I'm guessing that lists were split up among the "team" and some may be working faster than others.

Okay, count me as embarrassed - I just re-read the first page more carefully, and saw this:
Booking a River View room will also tend to assure you of a room without too long a walk to anywhere.

My apologies for not being more thorough before posting!!!

Just in from work still no call hmmm march 5th check in. Should I call.

I would call, here is another number, it reaches the operation desk at POFQ and POR Press the number to take you to the right desk. 1-407-934-5778

:cool1::cool1: Yayyy for you! Congrats on getting your call!

I have to say though that I'm getting really frustrated (not with those here, of course). :headache: I actually went shopping today just so I wouldn't be stalking these boards (and to get some new shoes for the trip) lol. This is when I start to get mad at myself for using a TA just to get a small gift card. If I didn't have one, I would be stalking & calling Disney myself non-stop. As it is, I have to wait until the TA hears anything. I've tried calling myself, but the CMs won't tell me anything, and the TA just says we have to wait until Disney contacts them. :confused3

Woohoo for mom2daisy :yay: so glad you finally got your call!

So we're waiting on Debrn, stinkerbellsmom and cassiopia419 ... throwing more pixie dust your way!

Just called and asked if I could have that building and level with a preference on 3rd floor.

They said yes sir.

WOW! Another poster who was upgraded was asking about CL and everyone was saying they doubt very much, after their upgrade, they would then get CL plus there is no TPV in the CL building.

Good for you Venomhatch! You've worked your ticket on this and been rewarded for it, I am so pleased for you - I love go-getters  Really can't wait for your trip report.

Just got back from our first ever stay at POR (previous stays at CB and AKL).
Good and bad.
Good: It is beautiful serene, well themed, close to everything. We really loved the resort.
Bad: Our CM at check in had no Disney Magic. She was down right sour. Never smiled. Short answers to my questions. We were so happy to be there so I was cheerful, polite... Our room was not ready when we checked in at 11 am; that was a bummer. We stored our luggage but ended up sclepping the brand new ipad around all day in the backpack. I had planned to put it in the safe in the room.
I had booked a "Garden view room". We were in Acadia, on an end. If you looked out our window you saw 1/3 "garden", 2/3 parking lot. I was aggravarted by that since I had paid extra for the garden view. Other bad thing about the room was the AC was REALLY noisy. One morning I woke up to it and didn't know what the noise was coming from.
I had no intention of complaining and otherwise it was very nice. It was a refurbished room with 2 queens as we had hoped.
Would definately stay there again; just hope for a better room.

Just thought I would pass it along.

They did not charge you for CL? I asked how much to be upgraded and they quoted me over $300 per night! I said um no....

I know it is frustrating but when I asked them they said that they still had a lot of people to call and they would get to you. They are going according to checkin date and they are calling about 100 people per day and they split the list among a few people and there was still a lot of availability.
