I need some help here from those with experience. We will be disembarking the Magic on April 25th at the POM. Our flight is not till 4pm that same day. We have looked at options of hotel day pass or renting a car for the few hours and we would like to rent a car. As I'm about to book the car, i'm noticing bad reviews of long wait times and no cars being available because others have the same need. How can I make this work as efficiently as possible? What have others done?

I’ve rented a car from Alamo three times when we arrived at POM on the Magic, in 2016, 2017, and this year. We use the car to drive from the airport car rental center to WDW for the second part of our vacation. I joined the free Alamo Insider program so I can check in on line and choose Alamo’s skip the counter service. Once at the car rental center, I go directly to the aisle in the garage and pick out a car. No delays at the counter. We have used both taxis and Lyft to get from the port to the car rental center rather than waiting for the Alamo/National shuttle at the port. I understand that there is a free shuttle, but we prefer to arrange our own transportation so we have less hassle managing our luggage. We use a porter to help take the luggage through customs and out to the point where we get our taxi or Lyft.
