POR - Will my kids like it?

We're a family of 5 with 3 boys. We've stayed on site twice before, at Movies and then at POP. We are thinking of making a trip this summer and now we have something new to think about. My youngest is over 3 this time around, so we are now officially a family of 5! The boys have their heart set on staying at Sports but I know those have a max of 4. They just love the theming, the fun atmosphere, etc. Two rooms at the AS would be a waste because they'd be with us all the time anyway. Can't afford a deluxe, so that leaves us with POR, is that right?

I don't know anything about POR. Could you guys give me some info. What is special about it, what will we (especially the boys 8,6,4) like about it? I don't want them to be disappointed so I need to gather my facts before I book anything. Thanks!

We have a 7 yr old, this May will be his second year in a row at POR. We almost decided on ASMo or CSR but in the end he wanted POR again. He loved the pool, waterslide, surrey bikes, arcade, boat to DTD, other watercraft, fishing hole, and the various wildlife that were camped out in front of our building last year. Oh yeah, we loved it too. The food court was very reasonable and decent quality. The grounds are really beautiful, we enjoyed taking walks around the resort or over to POFQ on our down time from the parks. The bus service is ok, but not as good as CSR. It is much more crowded during peak times, as it also goes to POFQ.

With five you definately will want to be in the AB section to have the trundle bed. If you want to be close to Food Court and Pool, then Buildings 14 and 16 are good choices. We stayed in 14 last year and loved it, we have requested it again this year.

I don't think you can lose with any of the resorts on your list, have a nice trip!!

I think your boys will love POR, especially the Alligator Bayou section (where you will need to be with a family of 5). The pool (swimmin' hole) is awesome with a great slide. And the food court really has some great choices. Once they see the resort, I think you'll be fine.

The pool is nice; there's a playground; there are several "quiet pools" scattered throughout the resort; and the boys can fish if they like. There's also an arcade.
But, one of the best things at POR for families is.....

Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson!!!
He performs in the River Roost lounge, Wednesday through Sunday evenings from 8:30 'til Midnight. Everyone loves him, kids and adults! The nacho platters in the lounge are great, too!

Is Alligator Bayou the only section that sleeps 5? I'm not familiar w/ this resort too much and we have 5 people staying there in June. Is Alligator bayou near the food court also?

They do have hairdryers. Thats one of the few things I know about the resort

Alligator Bayou is the closest to the food court but it spans quite a distance back. The CM's at check in will help you with location.

Alligator Bayou is the only section that has the trundle bed for the 5th person. Its really nice, you and yours will love it

We are already planning our return visit to POR and we're booking two additional nights (9 total) so we have more time to spend at the resort without feeling like we've missed out at a park.

We just love this resort! The kids adored the pool and we would have loved to rent bikes, but did not find the time. So much to do! I thought the resort offered a lot for the price and was well worth the jump from budget to moderate.

I agree with the other posters that your boys will have a good time. The free boat ride to Downtown Disney is a nice perk.
