Morning everyone! This weekend I'm making ADRs!!

Well i was close, real close, scary close. We had a tornado today in brooklyn, i swear i'm telling the truth.

I heard about it this morning, on the news. I was like 'Did I hear that right? Brooklyn?!'


Chicago doesnt really get them - they'll be spotted south of here often, but not near me. My Girlfriends car was torn up though, from a 'micro-burst' - I guess it's similar.

Thing is - it came through in 1990 - it's 17 years later and it's allllll built up. (notice pictire above.....it was really just out in the boonies) New houses, new schools, malls, etc.... When it originally came through, it was pretty much a little poop-hole of a town. So, as Plainfield started booming, I was like 'Why on earth are they building where they constantly get tornados, or conditions good for one??'

Im a " I wont live south of 55" snob.... I know it means nothing to any of you, but I wont live south of 55.

Hey - is anyone else planning a February-ish trip? End-O-January / Beginning-O-February-ish?

I'm thinking about end of feb first week in march, maybe. Out of no where my mom called and said she wanted to go to disney for these dates, which was very surprising, since my mom is not like the rest of us when it comes to disney. So i'm considering meeting my mom up there. Still just a maybe, i will have to wait and see.

When you guys do go to wdw, what do you use to get to the resorts??? I had some family that landed at mco and used magical express a week before we were set to arrive, my aunt and uncle along with thier grand kids were staying 2 weeks and we were meeting them there and spending thier last week with them at wdw. Magical express was around and operating well over a year. They waited at mco for close to 3 hours for a magical express bus and thier bags did not make it to thier rooms until 24 hours later. This was not like a hoilday time or peak time, it was end of sept. Afterthat i swore to never use magical express ever. We usally use murray hill, which we have used everytime and loved them, plus most times we beat the magical express bus to pop and end up get on line at pop's check in with little to no waits.

So i was wondering how do you get to the resort, who do you use.


Btw I'm not saying that magical express is bad or anything it's just that that was my first impression of them thru my familys expirence, so i always been kinda nervous to use them.

YUCK! Dont tell me that! We used ME in January, didnt check our bags, and it was super smooth....but, it was January!

Hopefully September wont be bad. ***fingers crossed*** I have a 7.30 ADR 2.5 hours after we land - it BETTER be on time!!!

And previous to January, we've always driven....

YOMD has been extended until the end of 2008. What do you guys think about that?

I am ready for a change. I am not saying they have to go all out every year, but keeping YOMD feels like they just don't want to go through the trouble of changing it.

When I read this on the announcements I thought this was 2008 and it was just extended to the end of the year. I was like so what? But another year? It doesn't really fit with the title.

Did you all catch the changes to the dining plan?? Regular DDP will NO LONGER include an appetizer or gratuity and will go down $1 i believe in price.

There is a deluxe plan that will include 3 meals per day and the appetizer, but still no gratuity.

Yeah, this will be the last time we do DDP...its just not a good deal anymore.

Well i was close, real close, scary close. We had a tornado today in brooklyn, i swear i'm telling the truth. I know this might me normal for some of you, but this is the first time in history they was a confirmed tornado in nyc. About 5 am i was awaken by loud thunder and buckets of rain. It was also the first time the weather scared me. It was real windy, with really bad lightning and thunder, i mean the kind of lightning that lites up the inside of your dark house. It was bad, real bad, then out of no where the t.v. crackled with breaking news and they told all brooklyn residents to prepare for a tornado and to go into your basements, right away. We here in nyc are not used to that. We have never had a tornado watch/ warning before and this was the first time the weather channel ever told nyc residents to go into thier basements. I could here the wind real bad and my house was shaking a little, i really thought for the first time we might lost the house, it felt as if something was trying to pick it up. Anyway it passed and i went outside to check out if there was any damage 4 out of 14 trees on my block alone were down and pulled out of the ground by thier roots. There were litter and tress branches in the road ways as far as i could see, which was several blocks. I called the fire house to see if they needed me to come in and was told that 911 had thousands of calls from everypart of brooklyn and queens , all from people that needed help. Only one person died, which is one to many but it could have been a lot worse. I ended up going in and i'm really beat we were very busy until about 2 pm. I'm beat and going to bed.Btw we had no damage to our house other than a small chip in a small window.

We had a tornado here too, but it was 30 miles away. They have one in the surrounding counties about every year I think.

When we used MEARS before they were ME in 2002, it was awful! We waited forever and ever! Since then we used towncar services...I can't remember which one right now...I think the one they promote on mousesavers. But then when ME showed up and it was FREE...I mean, come on, $100 or Free? So we tried it...and it was fine. No wait both times we've used it (okay 5 minutes the 2nd time) and no luggage problems!

I dont listen/read the news anymore we'll I do listen to the news but mostly rerun news like this morning I was on my way to work and my happy listening was interrupted with the news in 1945... the today Aug. 9 the 2nd bomb is ready to be drop off at Nagasaki if japanese peeps dont cooperate/surrender... I listen to 1940's and 1950's radio station

Before last year we used public transit. Last year we used ME and had a HORRIBLE experience. It was bad news. The line was crazy long. We waited forever. Some of the lines moved fast, our was sloooooow. Our luggage didn't get to us until 3:30AM!! (this was over 12 hours after we landed). And leaving was a mess too. The bag check in and bording pass lines were insane. They give you a time you have to leave, yet we waited at that darn bus stop for about an hour before we were able to find room. Now, that being said, I WOULD use ME again. I would make sure to pack more in my carry on. (I hate carrying a bunch of stuff ont he plane with me) And I would possibly take a town car or something of that nature back to the hotel. This year Lori and I are renting a car which I am excited about. I will miss the "welcome" and "goodbye" movies on the ME though.

Yeah, I miss her too! We usually talk everyday, so this is weird!!! But I know she needed a break and I am sure she is having a great time. She texted me last night and said she was going to go see Ka which is a Cirque show I believe. She is addicted to Cirque shoes, so I am sure she had a blast!
